Bob proctor, affirmations, mind movies etc etc

I am 3/4 of the way through Bob Proctors interpretation of the science of getting rich.

I don't know if I am seeing contradictions, I might have to listen to the tapes right from the start again.

He keeps on mentioning his affirmation "I am happy and grateful....." apparently he says this frequently (he doesn't seem to mention how often)
also:
One of the guest speakers mentions writing down everyday your dream house, the exact details of your ideal future etc. He mentions to do this once a day for a month.

However in one section he says "It is not necessary to take exercises in concentration, nor
to set apart special times for prayer and affirmation, nor to "go into the silence," nor to do occult stunts of any kind" "These things are well enough, but all you need is to know what you want and to want it enough so that it will stay in your thoughts."

Now that is fair enough (especially the last line), but I assume some people would benefit from the affirmations, as well as the exercises in focus and concentration (writing down your goals every day).

I have also noted in the secret, that they say "ask only once" which also seems to go against the daily affirmation idea

Other people talking about the law of attraction (mind movie site) seem to recommend watching or writing affirmations or watching videos with images and visualizations every waking moment.

Am I missing the point??????

I think affirmations have been great to me, not that I have had a flood of things come true...but a lot of things just seem to be slotting into place

Hmm I do believe in the power of visualization, though I'm skeptical when it comes to affirmations...haven't really worked for me. I tried them but I gave up, maybe I should try it again.

By the way, I've read the secret and the first week I had some weird stuff happen to me...like when I wanted something it manifested suddenly, nothing huge really. They say the law of attraction works everytime. But the first week after reading the secret I was really aware of its power. Nowadays I don't really pay much attention to it. I haven't won the lottery yet.

      Affirmations are tricky.
      I worked through several things....starting at "I make $4000 a day".
I quickly learnt that the brain (sub-conscious mind?) needs a realistic goal.
So I went back to "I make affirmations daily". This was a promise I could keep, and I started to believe myself.
I have started adding in clearer goals and it seems to be working for me

I think it's all about BELIEVING it. Believing that this works.

I'm going to try this stuff again. Maybe I should read the secret, think and grow rich, and the science of getting rich again and REALLY act upon it and STICK TO IT :p

Oh forgot to mention, they also say that you have to pay attention to your thoughts and feelings throughout the day so that you don't fall back into negative thoughts/feelings. I find that really exhausting.

You see, affirmations are mere words. What really matters is what stands behind them. And that's the FEELING. If you repeat thousand times "I am happy and grateful..." and think at repeating about your job problems, unsolved relations, home rent, driving a car safely, etc., the effect will be that of 10%.

What I suggest is try to find some time for yourself, around half an hour, so that nobody would disturb you, switch off your mobile phone, sit comfortably and examine your past. Find an event, a situation when you felt REALLY HAPPY. I wouldn't suggest the range for such hunting but most often the state of happiness is connected with love feelings.

Try to remember this situation in full details, dive into it, remember surroundings, sounds, smells, lighting, touch feelings, and most of all remember the feelings you had in your body - some tingling, heat, high beating of your heart - everything.

As soon as at will you evoke those feelings of happiness several times, you'll notice that it's enough just to think of body sensations and remember the state you was at that time to start FEELING the same tingling, vibration and so on.

This is where 90% of success lies. When you repeat any positive affirmation try to feel the same sensations in your body every time you pronounce this affirmation. And by the way, it's very convenient to do wherever you are (don't do it while driving a car ) since there are no outer manifestations of your state except your eyes - they will sparkle - and your smile - it will inevitably appear on your lips.

The same relates to visualisations - you may use any method (visual board, desktop, pictures all around the house, etc.) but every time you look at the picture of your dream you must (really must) force yourself feeling the body sensations of happiness.

When you master this skill the result will be that you'll be able to focus your free energy (which is just gathered during remembering the situation of happiness) on the subject of your desire. And that will lead you (in some time - usually not one year of practice) finally to the state when one thought of yours will receive enough energy to be fulfilled and materialized in your life almost instantly.

Just wondering in print, and not wishing to be negative, but could affirmations be a way of shutting out thoughts that you'd rather not confront?
If you're not succeeding in whatever you want to do, why not ask yourself what is holding you back? I can't see what is so positive about repeatedly telling yourself something in the present tense which clearly isn't true whilst not even considering why you are where you are.

    Hi everyone :-)

A few days ago Bob Proctor created a new program called 6 Minutes To Success.

Every person who joins 6M2S will receive every morning the exclusive email with the short, 1-6 minutes long motivation video from Bob himself.

If you'll watch his videos on regular basis, that will change your personal and business life for better, like night and day. If you know Bob Proctor, you know what I am talking about.

Watch Bob as he talks about his new project in the short video here:

    Enjoy :-)

In the book Think and Grow Rich Napoleon Hill states that most of the 13 principles are designed to be used to apply the SECRET. The secret in Think and Grow Rich... Is that you must take your definite purpose (goal) and turn it into an obsession.

In the chapter on Persistence... Hill mentions that the problem with most people is that they lack the ability to use persistence when applying the secret.

The secret is to write out your goal using the instructions in the chapter on desire. You write out exactly what you want including a deadline by when you must have it and then you read this statement of your chief definite aim out loud 2 times a day.

Earl Nightingale (a disciple of Napoleon Hill) recommended that you write down your goal on a card and keep it in your purse wallet or pocket and read it as many times as possible during the day. This is the same strategy that Bob Proctor recommends.

The reason that affirmations don't work for most people is that they quit too soon. Write down your goal on a card and carry it in your pocket and read it several times a day. Each time you touch the card read it or repeat the affirmation to yourself. Do this and your life will change. You will find yourself achieving goals much easier because you are changing and your goal is constantly in the forefront of your mind.

Affirmations have been used by all religious groups and is used today in all advertising. It's not a question of whether this tool works or not. It's a matter of will you stay persistent until you reach your goal and continue to repeat the statement of your goal or affirmation daily until it becomes your reality!

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
I see what you mean - these concepts may be very confusing, especially when you combine different sources.

I'm a fan of bob proctor myself, and what I've come to know is that affirmations themselves don't do you good unless they have feeling attached with them. So absolutely repetition is a must, but feeling is very important.

Words themselves won't change your life.

I've found a good site which refers to Bob Proctor's concepts: bob proctor quotes
