Success Online is 80% Mindset

I have found that there are many excellent Internet Marketers out there. Most of them are all over the place, chasing one niche to the next. Trying to create the next great E-Book or affiliate product. Spending hours spinning their wheels for small income results.

I was one of them...until 2 years ago when I joined the Internet Education Company I have been with since October 2007. I do one thing and do it very well. Laser focused and surrounded by many successful entrepreneurs and we all help each other. Take the support you get in this Forum and multiply it by 100.

Looking forward to feed back on this thread.

Good post! I hope that many understand what you've said. I've recently did a video on exactly the same thing - The Power of Focus.

One has to think of it this way, the sun beats down on the ants that scurry around on the ground all day. And not one ant is hurt by the sun. But place a cheap 50 cent magnifying glass in between the sun and the ant to focus the sun - and you just about instantly cook the ant.

The power of focus is an unstoppable force.

    Thanks for the post!

Agree with both these comments. Especially getting support from a MasterMInd-type group. WF can often serve that purpose as well.

For my offline business, I too am part of a group. It costs me around $10k a year, but is MORE THAN worth having the focus, training and accountability.

I'd recommend you find a mastermind group that you can thrive from. ORRRR ... get a really good coach.

It is just soooo easy to get distracted by the latest money making thing.

To be laser-targetted, to me, means not reading emails, not getting bogged down by gurus trying to push their products (its only going to make them money, not you!) and working on your business every day.

It is also about not being afraid of success, which I think many people are including myself sometimes. I have to talk myself out of fears which seem to be in my head.

Laser-like focus is one of the most important steps towards achieving success. The thing is a lot of people have trouble with focusing these days. I would say that instead of trying to do everything at once, we should do things one thing at a time and put your full attention on it. Get that done and move on to the next thing. That makes it harder for people to become overwhelmed with everything that may be going on. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I would have to jump in here and say after I've talked with several VERY Successful people (They each had personal networth's of MILLIONS) it's 99.9% YOUR MINDSET.

It doesn't matter what approach you take if your Mindset is not right.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[1551486].message }}

I would have to agree with the 99.9% statement. You could feasibly know nothing technical and still make it work with the right mindset.

Working on a project that revolves around mindset and consciousness has been a great way for me to see that firsthand with myself and others I work with.

We all live in self-limited worlds that in a real sense are our creations. Most of our creations are self limiting walls and barriers.

Scripture states it "suppressing the truth in unrighteousness" which just means we shut out things that don't fit into our immediate desires because those desires mean more to us than what is right. Of course those desires are a result of our short-sighted self limiting world view. As our view of reality widens, our desires become more noble and pure.

Plato's cave analogy also applies here.

I think the "Law of Attraction" attitude is more about an approach to life than a magic way to rub a lantern and get a Porsche. It's an approach that leads us out of our own caves.

    Hi there,

Mindset is vitally important. Puts you in the right frame to get things done well and with a strong purpose. Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals like in a Mastermind or with a mentor is crucial too.

That said, I'm not too sure if a mindset contributes to 80% of the success.

To me, I believed focused action is the most important.

I see many people who are motivated...but when it comes to taking action...they procrastinate. Many do in fact. Why? Because taking action requires effort! It can be painful at times when you do things for the first time. And you are sure to meet stumbling blocks and make mistakes along the way.

Many either take action and stopped halfway...or don't take action at all.

That is a big issue that needs addressing. And I know many newbies face this problem.

Okay I've gone on too long now. Good post by the way.

I used to be like that, 500 or so websites trying to make them all as big a google. As soon as I narrowed it down to 5 websites is when it all came together.

80% mindset and 20% action is a great combo.

I agree that you have to learn the basic internet skills before you can make headway on the Internet but thereafter 80% Mindset is a serious underestimate in my opinion. I would put the figure nearer 100% especially when you consider that without Focus everything else literally blurs into insignificance!

Once I have that where I want it, then I can look around to see what's next. Focus is key.

Focusing on one thing is key, but knowing that thing can be the problem too. You don't want to follow a rabbit trail.

If you can leverage your core strengths, and look where you can provide maximum value, that is the best starting point.

In the end that is the shortest path.

      Simple, but not easy.

Success online (or offline) is about taking action now. If you just take action you'll program your subconscious mind to help you get to where you want to go. Your subconscious is the problem solver. A healthy mindset is the sign of highly trained subconscious mind.

I agree in your concept of focusing and mastering one thing. Become the best in the world in your profession and you'll have people wanting to hire you or have you teach it to them.

I recommend leaving the other professions respectively to other experts. You don't really want to be the jack of all trades in your business. Recruit the right professionals/experts around you and take your business to new heights

    Hope that helps!

I have to disagree. If you have a positive mindset, but do little or nothing your not going to get anywhere.

On the other hand, if you have a negative mindset-You've tried, and tried, and tried and nothing works-Your doubtful anything is going to work-but you keep taking action, you'll eventually succeed.

Just because you think something will work doesnt mean it will, and just because you doubt yourself doesnt mean something wont work. You have to take action, before you know anything for certain.

Of course having a positive mindset is important to; but happy thoughts arent going to build a business for you. Hard work, strategy, and innovation are.

A positive mindset is important only so much as it contributes to your ability to take action and relate to your peers.

Sorry, I just cant let this one go. I know to many people who have "positive" mindsets and sit around and do nothing. I know one guy whos "Going to be a millionaire" next year. Only, he says that every year.

Whats he do? He builds up his business, gets comfortable and lets his earnings drop; and does the same thing next year.

If he quit being so "positive" and stuck with a "This is war, I'm going to give this my all" like he does when his business starts to hit a down turn every year he would be a multimillionaire right now.

But he doesnt. Because instead of staying focused, he stays "positive" and thats all he does.

Being positive is important. But its also a seductive trap. If you dont stay *motivated* then your going to fall into it. Business, especially in a virtual environment requires constant innovation.

        Hey there,

It's neighter about a positive or negative mindset.

It's about having that mindset that gets you done things, that will help beyond your stumbling blocks.

The mindset that generates focus, action, determination and commitment.

        Easy?

Well for a few it is.

Often comes down to the beliefs you have about yourself.

Everyone is selling their methods on how to make money.

Some are crap, but most here are good things. It also are things everyone can duplicate and implement.

So why doesn't every warrior here makes it? Because they don't have the mindset and thinking patterns needed?

The only thing standing in the way between you and being successful is you.

Not the lack of money, not the lack of success, not the lack of knowledge, not the lack of knowing the right people, not the lack of experience, ..

        Most keep dreaming without implementing.

Though to do that you have to have that mindset that gets you off your ass.

        So the question is

what is the one feeling that stops you from implementing X?

As I heard Carrie Wilkerson once say... gett off your but's... (and yes that is "but" with one t :-) )

Have fun and a great 2010 people

Great Post the mindset is the most vital part of success so many people fail to realize when trying to make money in this business. There are so many outside distractions and negative people that try to discourage a new internet marketer it's vital to protect your mind. I have one very important quote I try to live and work by:
"As A Man Thinketh So Is He"
What you think is what you will become. A persons most dominate thought is what controls their life and status. Your thoughts become things. I try to keep negative people away from me they are like poison. They can kill your dreams as quick as you blink your eye.

Focus is important, and hard work too, but I think mindset is the key. How many people do you know who are focussed, work very hard, but still dont seem to move an inch in their lives? Mindset also helps you when you stumble, because you tune in to knowing how to leverage on a failure.

I certainly agree that success has a lot to do with your mindset and faith in yourself and your abilities. When you're focused on what you want to achieve, you can harness all your best energies to making your dream come true. The best thing about being focused and taking action is that you're expending your energy on those areas that will reap you handsome rewards rather than dissipating your energies in several unprofitable ventures. Being focused and having a positive mindset backed by complete faith has worked its miracle on me!

          Really, not that many.

There might be some some who are not focussed on the right things, or could move further with focussing on other things.
