I don't want to go to school anymore...

We are in the same boat. I'm a senior in high school and I have the same attitude as you have; and my parents are getting tired of my ugly academic grades even though I'm making lots of money than before.

I never let school interfere with my education. I told my parents that I don't care if I go to the best schools or the worst ones or never go to college at all. I do not care if I get an F or a D or C in all of my classes. School is still in the middle ages. It can barely teach people how to read and write.

The only thing I care about is doing what I love to do and put it to service for human kind so I can make a living and a fortune. Now that's what I call wealth and happiness!

Alfonso, if you can make as much money online to get the basic needs of life to live in this modern age, then continue your Internet marketing.

Alfonso, you can quit at anytime you know. Why not finish it?

My advice for you is continue school and drop out of school when you make enough money to support yourself and your family.

Internet Marketing will be around forever, an opportunity to finish college or high school wont necessarily be.

And remember, most people who do IM do so for a while part time on top of a regular job and/or school before they quit andgo IM full time.

Plus, the lessons you learn in school will help you personally and professionaly forever.

Take it from me. Dropping out of college to pursue ANY method of making money (whether it's IM, or just a 9-5 job) is not a good idea. I made that mistake 10 years ago, and have always regretted it, and am preparing to go back to college at the age of 26. Sure, you can be extremely successful and profitable with IM and not finishing college. But why not do both?

No one really knows what's in the future. An Electromagnetic Pulse bomb could detonate in 5 years, destroying all electronic equipment and sending us back to the stone age. What would you do then? IM obviously would not be an option anymore. You'd have to go back to fighting with all the other 6+ billion people on Earth trying to get a job. And the ones that get the high paying jobs are the ones with a higher education. That won't change.

Granted, my example might be a little far-fetched. But you get my point. What would it hurt to do what you love, and do what is smart at the same time? The next 2 or 3 years will go by regardless. What you do with them is what's important. I would highly recommend finding a way to balance your entrepreneurial desires with your university studies. Find a way to get motivated to study your classes, just as you find motivation to study IM guides and materials. They're all good for your future. You've come this far. Why back out now?

Well, Alfonso, I can understand your feelings of inferiority. And I know it can be tough to explain to parents why you're not reaching your potential. But explaining that you fell into a slump and your grades fell but that you're working to improve will be a LOT easier to explain to them (and they'll be a lot more understanding) than telling them you're quitting school altogether. And who really cares if you're behind everyone else and need to catch up? Why quit? Just do your best. In a year, it won't matter if you were top of the class or if you just finished. Your classmates won't even remember who you are in a few years. But you will remember whether or not you finished your studies and stuck it out, doing the best you can.

Even though I graduated high school with A's and B's, I never, ever applied myself in any of my school years and was constantly behind with catchup work. I hated it, but I finished it and felt really great about it afterwards.

You may regret dropping out, but I guarantee you won't regret graduating.

You should NEVER be doing something that you don't want to be doing for someone else's sake.

College is just not for everyone. Not everyone wants to be at school, for whatever reason, and that by no means makes them stupid. It just means that they have different priorities, or methods of learning, or desire for an academic education, or whatever.

If you don't feel like being there, get out, but ONLY do so if you can actually support yourself.

You can always go back to school. Colleges aren't going to disappear.

A friend of mine is a great example of this. He started college and dropped out in his first year because he was doing IM. He ended up being really successful and was able to go back to school because he WANTED to, and not because he FELT OBLIGATED to.

If you are at school, it should be because you want to be there, not because you feel obligated to be there.

Hey man take it from me. I'm 23 this year and still in uni, although I'm in 3rd yr. I got hooked on the idea that all you need to make it in anything in life is to put hard work and love it like you love..whatever it is you love the most. Hence, begun the tumultuous period in me early youth.

Where I come from, most people graduate at around 21-22 or even 25+ but that's for stuff like law, medicine etc. Anyway, I was studying mechatronics engineering until I thought that I was smart enough to start out on my own. Heck how am I even supposed to apply engineering skills to business? So, I went ahead and dabbled in MLM, door2door and all sorts of ways to make money.

I did make more money than I could ever dream of (at that time) but my studies went down to the drain. Soon, my parents found out and I stubbornly told them it's my life, my rules. Eventually, everything I was doing came crashing down as I couldn't separate studies and money. Needless to say, at 20, I was broke and almost disowned. Not a good place to be.

Long story short, I'm in Australia right now, studying commerce. It's not that I dislike engineering, I love maths and science but (and this is my opinion) let's be realistic, money isn't everything but it is alot of things and my obsession with financial freedom and maths happened to coincide with commerce. The point I'm trying to emphasize is that even though you firmly know what you wanna do in life, don't throw out what you are supposed to have in life i.e. education.

Education is important, I realize that now. Without it, I'll be a fricking sitting duck waiting to get conned by anyone. The world isn't all flowers and a green field for you to run around and be jolly in. It can be a dangerous place and will kill you if you don't know what you are doing. Don't think for once that the security money provides, is everything.

Money is alot of things but not everything. It's hard to explain it but trust me on this, get pummeled to the ground a few times in life and you'll know what I'm talking about.I understand that whatever I've said might come across as harsh or rude but please don't take it that way. Like everyone else, I'm just trying to help. Even more so in this case because I see so many things which you are doing now, which I was doing before and I really hope that you don't go down a path which might force you to ask yourself: "what if I hadn't.....?"

Doing the right thing now is, for lack of a better word, f***ed up. But you have to find it in yourself to do it, if not for yourself, then for the people who care about you. That, I feel is what growing up entails. You can't have everything without paying something in return. Hope this helps. Good luck and all the best =)

I was 16 the first time I went to school on a full tuition vocal performance scholarship at a private university. I was young, thought I knew it all-- I wanted to live. I threw it away after 2 years. About 8 years later, I found something that I thought I could do the rest of my life-- interpreting for the Deaf. So, I went back and got a degree in American Sign Language/Interpreting for the Deaf. I became a certified interpreter for several years until I began not liking the politics involved. I stayed home and started having babies

I have no idea what this means for you, however. I guess just know that school is not the be all end all of the universe.

But, "loving" doing something, doesn't put food on your family's table either.

I also meant to add: wearing the big-boy undies means doing a whole lot of stuff you don't ever want to do.

I read that in the U.S. a college graduate makes about a million dollars more in their lifetime than someone that doesn't go to college. I see you're in the Phillipines, so maybe the economics don't translate exactly, but I'd guess there is a strong correlation.

I spent 7 years at University and ended up with a PhD. Careerwise it was a waste of bloody time - I studied biochemistry but having access to an embryonic Internet made me want to become a geek so I self taught myself into the industry.

However, being at Uni was a lot of fun and a lot of the self discipline needed to set up businesses I learnt while at Uni. Writing a 300 page thesis also made me incredibly quick at writing - it should help me in my quest to build 1000 hubpages this year!

Dude...I'm in the same exact position and here's what I decided to do.


Online is an amazing business but college is a lot of fun. U only live life once so why not live it up while ur young?? So basically, I chose to go to school part time and to stay in school a few extra years to pick up that degree for "security"...but honestly only stayin in college for social reasons. It's a bit of a work week but hey, the fun I have in return is well worth the 10 hours a week spent at school.

I 'm sure you know finishing school is the right thing to do. That is why you are asking for advice. There is much more to learn in school than just what is in your books. you are dead on with the lessons in social networking and that is only part of your education in school. Also try not to be so concerned about keeping up with anyone else. Instead, take the opportunity to learn as much as you can even if your grades aren't as high as you would like. Is you want to be really successful you will never stop learning. If you earn nothing else in school but the self discipline to complete it, you will be ahead of many that quit when things don't go their way.

Why is everyone so infactuated with degrees?? Just curious....

Honestly, you can walk in to any company and pick up a job regardless of your background. I just personally feel it's a silly thing. You have to go through training 90% of the time anyways so why does it matter? If someone with a degree were to walk into a job with up to date knowledge in the field they'd be MORE ATTRACTIVE than the guy that got a degree 10 years ago....guys we're in an era where information is being constantly updated and technology improved.....a degree does nothing for you in the long run. If you can display your more knowledgable and valuable than someone with a theoretical education then your in.....it doesn't matter if you have a degree....times have changed....I'm getting a degree in either psychology or quantum physics but it has NO bearing on the career path I'm planning out......I swear it doesn't matter nowdays...the global economy isn't doin so hot and only the smartest companies will survive and the most VALUABLE workers will make it out...it isn't about some paper...it's all about production.

Ya, I can already see the rebudle coming......degrees are a REQUIREMENT for getting jobs with descent income!!!! They won't even look through at your application...You're crazy!!!! Guys....You don't need an application to get an interview : p Life's about takin initiative and works about providing value....if someone can then walk in to an office, get an interview on the spot and prove that they can provide 5X the value of an average worker with a degree they win....it's as simple as that. There's no IF AND or BUTS. Employeers look for value and production in the real world not fancy titles. Degrees are outdated a year or two after you get them...THEY HAVE NO BEARING IN REAL LIFE!!

With that in mind....I'm still getting a degree just because college is a lot of fun AND it makes things easier...hahah...it might take me another 4 years but hey... The degree's like my cherry on top...as I'm in my interview...oh ya, i got an associates in quantum physics....Ifter I got it I realized It wasn't very practical so I had to find a job in a different field :p....Guess That's the same as being degreeless lol...wish me luck

Here's how it works just in case u aren't familiar with it...

You're mental health is directly proportional to the control you have in your life.

How can you use this?? Make sure YOU choose what you do everyday. If you feel you have to go to school then l find a reason why you personally want to stay....then have some fkin fun dude!! And from the looks of it, that's exactly what your doin.... Just remember, the more control you have in your life the better it is all around...If you don't have control, give yourself control and make the best decision...School and IMing have a closer connection than you think. They truly affect each other.

It gives you something to fall back on. In my experience, that is where you make a lot of your most fruitful business relationships. I would do it all if I could.

I was supposed to go back to college last year, but decided to peruse this instead because I didn't have the funds to purchase 4 books for over $100 a piece and pay over 2 grand for classes. At my "real" job I make too much to get any kind of grants and I would be stuck paying back all of these loans I couldn't afford. I could hardly afford to pay bills as it was.

I am happy I didn't go back. Like someone else said...college will be around forever if I ever decide to go.

i dont have much experience in the college stuff as my further study is not really in the college coz the college is been done by part time and in day i working. That is so boring job i have that time. And the college is in the branch where i study and about 5-7 student only, that is not cool. Coz what the time for social dont have, so i just concentrate in study only. Now that is back time, for job i have to admit it, is really strict supervisor, extreme cool -2 celcius, i have to wear heavy cloth, do the job for 9 hours.
That is so trouble about day job. I no mean to scary you but that is the real living fact. If you got the opportunity to further study go ahead and the IM can do part time.As this IM need time to learn and need slowly learn it or you will get overload info like i am now.

The life in college should be fun and enjoyable.

I'm in the same boat buddy. I'm in high school a.k.a 11 th grade in India. My grades are messed up too and I just want to quit. No matter how hard I try, I'm not able to pass. There are a lot of distractions for me over here like my parents and their troubles with money, etc. That puts me in a lot of pressure and I keep underdelivering everytime. It seems that only IM is something I can put up with no matter how worse my bloody condition is.

I have my exams starting thursday and have no clue about how I'm going to flare in it. If I fail, I'll definitely quit. I can't redo a year. If I pass, I'll have two choices.

I used to get a 90% in Math in my class 10(last year) but now I get 6% Six Percent. If you are determined to go places with this, just quit.

Bill Gates was a dropout but he made a million. Same is for you, Same is for me. No matter how worse the situation is, if you turn to Think And Grow Rich or Science of Getting Rich, you'll bring your business on track if it is not.

One of the world's better known companies this is. My heart was never in it. If I'd continued on this road my folks would have been proud of me and I'd have hated myself for it. It would have been smarter if I'd never completed this course.

Let them know you love and respect them. Keep good relations with them as far as you're able to. But do not do what you don't want to do. You have to have respect for the person who looks back at you in the mirror and you will never be able to do that if you're doing what someone else wants you to do.

From my experience, when they see you're Happy doing what you want to do (and probably successful by the look of things) they'll come round to your viewpoint. Power to you

Don't trip on the finish line. You should finish school as it is always something you can rely on IF something dramatic would happend. I personaly belive when you start to earn money on IM you won't stop earning. There is always something you can do if you got lots of money to stay rich.

But still you learn to be social, discipline and you got friends in the school.7

I go in school too and I can admit I think it's really hard to find motivation but I'm just working with my friends and make the school fun. We use computers all the time so we watch movies, play games and we are working together when it's needed.

If your not going to school then what would you like to do ? You will surely regret your decision if you dont go to school so much better if you just continue studying so you will have no regrets in life later on

I am in the same situation.

My father, who wants me to finish school, but myself, I want to continue working (Both in IM and at my job).

Another thing is, He wants me to stay at home and go to school, the tradeoff is I want to dorm at school and not stay home.

I have the same issue where I want to do what I WANT TO DO, not what he wants me to do.

I have really come to the conclusion that "Do what will make myself happy." My father has always been a mentor for me in everything I have done thus far, but sometimes he holds me back.

I have decided to do what will make me happy, and after talking to him, he has really agreed to it and we came to a conlusion that I will go to school, and dorm and I will lose my current job (but I will continue IM). So it really worked out.

Talk it out my friend, really try to find a medium that will satisfy.

Just follow your heart. Whether you go to school or not, it doesn't matter. A lot of people feel miserable when forcing themselves to do what the society wants them to do. But if you want to continue schooling then do so. Imagine the benefit of having an education. If you can achieve high grades yesterday you can still do it tomorrow. It's all from within. You have the potential to achieve greater heights.

Can you switch your major? Maybe get behind the scenes in IM since one school now has a degree for it. I'd hate to see you lose all the time and money you spent in going to school. It depends on what you are going for though. Definitely go with where your heart and drive and passion is. Perhaps you can switch your major towards that area and pick up some more skills and applications towards what you love along the way.

You don't need school to be successful but you need passion, heart, drive, and education. Education meaning that you should have a desire to learn what you love to do and keep learning and applying the methods you learn to your work.

Check into other majors that will give you some more info about IM and that direction. Whatever you learn can't hurt you, it can only help you get more information to use for IM and what you love to do!

I know how you feel. I was in the same situation in University (which costs money.) I wanted to stop. I was in my last year toward getting my Mechanical Engineering degree. I knew that I wanted to pursue other directions. I finished my degree because I was so close. I now have that experience to draw upon now. It was actually easier to finish when I created in my mind a wrote down why I was finishing. It became a goal and I followed It to completion.

Try to make it your goal. Then strive to complete the goal.

Yeah. Me too. Want to stop going to school. Nice to see a kababayan here. . Where on same place also. I'm from Bato, Leyte. Heard of it? Hahaha!

School was never for me. I'm 22 years old and have never graduated high school, not because I was ignorant but because I wasn't interested in it and that caused me to be lazy. I actually was so far behind that I was forced to stay an extra year by my parents to try and graduate.... that didn't happen either. I slacked off even more and started skipping classes altogether for the first time.

I did bust my butt off at my job however. Putting in anywhere from 40-60 hours a week at a crappy under-the-table job making $5 an hour, eventually having a raise to $9/hour.

The funny thing was that the community college here does not require a GED or highschool diploma. It is a fully accredited school and your credits transfer to major universities. I tried this option after about a 2 year break from high school. It just reminded me why I hated school in the first place..but honestly it isn't as painful as high school is.

A year or 2 out of high school, when I was 19, I started an online business. Computers were always my thing and one of the main reasons I was so distracted. The first year was brutal. I put in a ton of work and had a shoe-string budget still living at my parents.

However the hard work started to pay off, after a year I really noticed my profits start to steadily increase.

Fast forward to now: I'm 22, running a successful business that is making $50,000/year and growing at a fast pace. I quit my "real" job over a year ago and have been living in my own place, paying my own bills, completely independent. I am more happy with myself than ever. I make more money currently than anyone than the people who I was supposed to graduate with.

I'm not telling you to drop out of school, but I am telling you to do what you feel is best for your life. You're your own person and can make decisions for yourself. Just don't hastily make them or else you may regret those later on in your life.

Until you have a solid plan stick to what you're doing. The ultimate goal is success and being happy with your life. The ability to support and provide for both yourself and your future family, quality of life and what you want to accomplish are all things you should be thinking about.

If you are absolutely 100% certain you can accomplish the above without schooling, then, well...the decision on what to do is up to you.

If there is any doubt in your mind, is it really worth it to risk living miserably?

hi.. Alfonso, i highly recommend you to finish schools... believe me.. go to school and have fun.. going back to home and do your IM. If you not really interested in studying, then just put some effort to pass the exam. By choose this options you will in a safe place, you save your IM, you still finish your school and make your parent fell god.

my situations is different from you, i was born in a poor family and it become worst after my father pass away. Just imagine... i was just 5 years old that time. I had few time thinking quit school just to help my mother earn money for our survival. I'm not really good in schools but i manage to pass every exam. Age of 15, that is my first time touch computer and i really like computer. I want to have one but, i know i cannot get the computer so i just keep it my self and never told my mum. I usually going to cyber cafe to use internet and paid RM 2 a hour. I had sacrifice my expenses. Imagine i only have RM 5 a months... that means only RM 3 balance.

I had told my self, i want to do well in my studies and finally i graduated with computer engineering degree. I just have luck after got loan for my studies... but now i have to pay it back... when you finish your studies and get a job... you will know your salary will never enough... that y you have to do something... for mine... i do IM.. im still new in IM but i will learn how to become pro as you ... and become financially freedom.

what my pint here is, now matter what.. studying or learning process is whole life process either in our life including IM but getting the certificate is a proof you had pass certain level of educations.

just finish your study... do not waste your chances ... i believe you have high self motivations and you also know what is "time management" . good luck for your study and IM.

Quitting school and working any job and do IM on the side isnt such a bad idea in hind sight. Dont waste your money, save up as much as you can. You'll have a good 5 years savings ahead of everyone else....you could easily save $100K by the time your friends finish their degrees. Plus you'll have a lot more money if you save your IM cash too.

Keep investing and build income generating assets.

School is ok for most people but for someone like you who wants to be an entrepreneur it's a mainly a waste of time and will probably set you back in the long run. However if you only have 1-2 years left perhaps just finish high school then start working straight after.

I've met all types of people in my life with this same exact problem. As cheesy as this may sound, I think you should follow your gut with what you enjoy doing the most. Wasting money on school is one of the biggest financial mistakes people make in this country. What I mean by wasting is going to school because of society pressures, or family pressures. If you think you can be financially independent through internet marketing, that's what you should focus all of your time and energy on. Even though most would argue that it's always good to have a college education to fall back on, it's still ALOT of money to spend on just a back up plan. If you're 100% dedicated to internet marketing, you will succeed and do just fine.
