Playing to your strengths

It's interesting untill recently i have felt like i havn't been that successful in life. the point i am at now i have no outward signs of success.

Recently i visited a sight that that after a short test listed your strengths and weaknesses. It's not some cook sight either It was put together by phds. I think the site was authentichappiness.com my spelling is probably off.

The strengths it listed for me kinda caused a light to go off. I have been playing to the strengths for quite sometime. I have just not done any work that played to my strengths. That disconnect is the source of my lack of success.

So from here i am rolling these strengths together to figure out what i can do from this point to always be playing to my strength and getting better.

Do you play to your strengths and find ways to geth better ?

Nope, Odahh. You got the spelling right. I'm registering right now.

    Thanks for this.

Yes, I think it is extremely important to always leverage your strengths in every single thing you do. Not a single person in this world is strong in everything they do but the ones who find jobs and personal relatoinships that play to their strengths are the ones who get ahead.

Great words of wisdom, thanks for sharing Odahh

This is a very important message. In IM (and life in general) there are so many people teaching you 'the best way to do things' that sometimes you think you need to follow exactly what someone else has done to achieve success. But real success comes from doing things your own way, choosing things that work for you and your strengths.

We should definitely play to our strengths...

Of course, that doesn't mean that we shouldn't try to improve our weaknesses. Unless of course we are totally hopeless in a department - in which case it probably makes sense to outsource (to someone who has that "strength.") :-)

A fantastic book that will help you is The 80/20 Principle by Koch. Or any of his books on the subject. It's along the lines you've been speaking of. And brilliantly well expressed
