Today is all there is.

Life is now. Each day that you let slide by only dreaming of magical tomorrows without working toward your dreams is a day lost. You can never reclaim a lost day, once it's gone, it's gone.

Build the life you want now, day-by-day, one day at a time. That's the only way there is, so make the best of it. Dreams can't come true if we don't stop dreaming and start doing.

What dreams have you let slide?

Identify them . . . and BUILD them!

    Amen to that!

What can you do TODAY to create the reality you so wish?

Hi Dennis, have you read "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill - very rewarding read. He also concentrates on the "now" but with the intent of working to a future goal which becomes self-actualising the more you pursue your plan.

Tomorrow is the results of whatever set in motion today. Whatever we do or don't do, whatever we say or don't say, will set in motion the experiences of tomorrow.
We have no control of tomorrow. We can only plant the seed today.

Yesterday is a concept that is overrated. It is over and do not have control of the desicions we can make today. Right this minute, we can make new desicions that can turn around everything we have done the last minute.

The power to change things is only available today. The only experience we have is that of today. Yesterday's memories can never compare to what we are experiencing now, and tomorrow's dreams won't be real if it's not created today.

I have learned to make my reality of NOW the most important one. I try to create what I want to expereince right now, not 5 years later, not a year later, NOW! This =gives interesting impact of concepts like:

      Goal setting.
      Delayed gratification.
      Retirement.

It's an art to live the life you want NOW. Saving for retirement? Perhaps that concept is outdated.
Suggestion: read 'Four hour work week' by Tim Ferris. It'll blow your mind.

      Cheers

Today was only as great as I thought it to be. Tomorrow will only be as great as I prepare it to be (my thoughts).

It's cool to know that I at least control what happens next even if I sometimes don't take advantage of it. It's weird how a person can know good n well what to do and how to do it but choose to do something different. I don't get it:confused:

This thought is one of the ones that really empowers me over others - that today is all I have right now, to do something that matters, to do something that will change things.

Two minutes before reading this thread the following quote came into my inbox:

"Time is limited, so I better wake up every morning fresh and know that I have just one chance to live this particular day right, and to string my days together into a life of action, and purpose."

I've found that it is great for emotional management as well. There were times when I'm in an unresourceful emotion, then I asked myself: "What do I prefer to feel now, if this moment is all I have? Yesterday's hurt does not matter, tomorrow's disappointments might not happen."
A lot of our negative emotions are because of the past or the future. Either we're angry/disappointed with what someone did in the past, or what their action means/affect our future. If you get rid of those two factors, you'll normally end up with a decision of the kind of relationship you want to have with the person right now. So why not have that relationship right now?

If you don't go to bed feeling exhilarated about how much cool stuff you did today then you're wasting your life.

Whatever you learned or did today is a stepping stone toward future results. That's why it is always in your best interest to do something today that will serve as a stepping stone for tomorrow. If you don't do anything or choose to procrastinate, you won't have a stepping stone for tomorrow.

  • What you intend today, what you do today, where you are today, how much you do today determines where you will go tomorrow. Merely looking out the window & hoping for a better life wont take us anywhere.
