Can you Change when needed?

All of the biggest businesses in the world have obtained that status through being flexible and ready to change when needed. They stay on top of consumer trends, sales figures and economic conditions to ensure that they can adapt their products and services to continue to meet consumer needs.

If they don't change they will die. They know this all to well as most managers of big businesses have been a part of other companies that have failed. They were smart enough to know what went wrong, change their approach and join another business. Most big businesses love the idea of having people who have mad mistakes in their company as they hope those people have learnt and will not make the same mistakes again.

So are you ready for change? What are you doing with your business or life that is not working? Are you willing to change your business to meet the customers needs? Or are you just running a business to satisfy your own needs?

What are the consumer trends in your area? How do you stay on top of them? What research are you doing? What training are you undertaking to stay fresh and new at your position?

Change in business is inevitable and most of the time it will be out of your control. You need to ready and willing to change. You need to looking ahead and see what is coming. Active businesses try to create change so they are in control of it and not just react to it.

So take charge and be an instigator of change and help take you and your business to level of success that you are looking for.

Good post. I find that this forum is a great help in keeping abreast of changes and trends in IM. I have found in the past that whenever most of us hear of the 'next big thing' in IM then it's already oversaturated and while there is still money to be made, the big bucks opportunities are mostly over.
Being aware of the trends early seems to be key.

I also think that its a change in mindset and attitude. You need to change from just thinking about yourself to thinking how you AND the consumer will benefit from the business transaction.

Attitude must change to that of superiority. If you want to make one million dollars within the year, it is not enough that you plan for it and work at it. Even in the midst of all of that, you must BELIEVE that you will do it.

"Can do it" must change to "Must do it".

[I Can Do It] leaves space for you to not be committed to your goal. eg. I know i can do it but i dont really have to do it because blah blah blah

[I Will Do It] sends a message to your subconcious mind for SERIOUS action. It communicates urgency. It turns you from a whiner to a winner.

A new team is coming in a company - Most of the managers were scared about consequence...maybe they could lose their jobs...

The new team would like a big change in the company - a new way to see the things, a new way to think...Everybody know that, everybody was afraid...but nobody knew this new team...

A meeting is organized - Change is the word but change together...As a new team we want this company become a new actor in this field, we want a green company ( eolienne manufacter) respectful of the environnement, respectuf of his own staff...We want to offer a better world to our children...But we want to work together...Then we want to know what is your position , your mission, your expectation and how we cold together build this new world...Our mission is to add more value for people, our mission is to protect our planet and create a green energy...if you feel you could share our mission, then we want to work with you and we will appreciate you work for us...otherwise maybe it's time to move to an other world...

This speech was applaused, and mots of people who worked for this company have decided to do more - why because for the first time some of their own value, was the same that their company...they feel engaged and motivated to create this green world...

Then maybe the best change is this ability to share the same value than your customer...the same mission...and finally to put in their feet...for one moment...

Managing change means managing people's fear. Change is natural and good, but people's reaction to change is unpredictable and irrational. It can be managed if done right. But its a real challenge !!! I try to manage change by becoming adaptable. Besides - growth comes from change. So on that note I embrace it ...

Chris I agree with you 100%. Too many people fear the unknown. The biggest problem is that they start building senarios about what will happen.

They create in their minds all outcomes that do not exist and they start to believe them.

The best way to get past this is to learn as much as you can about what is going to happen. Education can take away a lot of the fear. When the future is transparent we are not as afraid as when it is dark and hidden from us.

This is an area where small businesses have a HUGE advantage of large companies because they are far more agile and able to adapt with little time.
