MSc computer engineer starting with IM. How do I begin?

Hello everyone!

This is my first post and I want to tell you a little about myself. I am a MSc in computer science and live in Scandinavia. I have been working as a software engineer for a few years and now I would like to start my dream of being my own boss and working online like many of you guys.

My plan is to set around 10-15 hours every week aside for gardening my new hobby of Internet Marketing and how to make money online. As time passes by and I hopefully after a few years start make more money, then its time to cut down on my regular daytime job and mabye doing this for a living. If that fails atleast I hope to earn some extra pocket money and learn something about the workings of IM.

I will only begin by spending wery little money, like under $30 on tools, domains or such. I have a decent connection at home and a few spare computers that could host a domain when starting up.

I chose this buisiness because of a few reasons:
  • The work can be done around the world, and I would love to travel and work from abroad on my terms.
  • My speciality in school was programming automatic spiders and crawlers just like the 'SEnuke' program. Reverse engineering skills also come in handy.
The thing I wonder is....

What is a good long-term plan to get my hobby started? Any tips for getting a good base to stand on, like books to read or projects to get started?

My plan was to start slow and get some autoblogged sites or 1-page adword sites out there and use SEO services or tools to bump them up google.

Welcome, sounds like you have a great vision for yourself.

There are many different ways of starting to make money. You should do what works for you, some of us enjoy certain things more than others. The one bit of advice I will give you to get started on the right foot is simply to choose a plan and stick to it.

I know from experience that it's all too easy to flit from one IM system to another, not really completing any of them. If you have the focus to stick to one you'll be in a great position to start seeing results.

    Good luck!

    Welcome!

Does your user name here include your first and last name? Is it a single word in your language?

For anyone who has technical skills, I think this thread is a great start for freelancing: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...th-beyond.html

This could give you some immediate cash, with which you can then reinvest in how-to guides, domains, etc.
