Desire keeps me Awake at Night

Does anyone else have this problem?

Well, I say problem however I am very lucky to have this amount of desire that it makes sleeping difficult.

I write this at 4.34am (UK time), after reading another chapter of "Think & Grow Rich" I know that I will one day be successful.

However seriously, not being able to sleep is very annoying!

So, as I mentioned at first, does anyone else have this problem?

It's like a burning sensation, a desire, you can feel it, you can feel the success, the glimmer of light that will one day reveal its self and everyone around you will take notice. Your mind won't stop thinking about it, it's like it is set on a loop in my head and whilst this is playing all my plans to make money and to achieve my aims and goals are building in my head.

Anyone? or just me...

=D

      willyboy,

I too feel this fire to achieve my dreams. It's what's kept me going this far. The problem with it is sometimes this fire yields to frustration and doubt in some but if you can keep this fire going there is literally a 0% chance that you'll fail. This is an amazingly inspirational thread and I find it awesome.

      Thanks,

It definitely keeps me up longer than i should be

Here's an idea that worked for me as well. Carry a little notebook around with you, in essence, a journal that you can jot down your ideas as they come to you. This may help you get some sleep at night.

Anyway, I would comb through your ideas and pick the best ones while eliminating those that may take too long to implement.

Thanks everyone, I am glad you found it inspirational. Well it's now 5.03am and I have ate a chocolate bar, watched some TV and not sure what else to do.

I sometimes get annoyed because I am not in the right state of mind to actually do work but instead to just plan. But seriously, if you saw the amount of plans/lists, calculations, cost/benefits, e.t.c that I have on/in an A4 pad an A5 pad and a little A6 (I guess?) pad then you would go mental =D

I definitely think it is a good idea jotting down ideas, thoughts and what else you may be thinking but sometimes you need to be able to tell your brain to switch of because its sleep time, mine just doesn't want to listen =P

I am glad to hear others have this gift/problem also.

So true, desire is one of the most powerful emotions. When I started my company in Indonesia, I averaged 3 hours of sleep per day for a couple of months. New country, new people, new clients and new projects. There was a massive amount of new "information" which kept feeding my brain with the stuff that inspire thoughts.

Amazing, what would happen if you formed a team with other people who have a different set of skills and traits? Lots of people have great talent but lacks the "desire" to do business plans all night.

Don't meditate too much... instead find a way to keep your business going even while you are sleeping. And then, get some real sleep

I totally agree dude, desire is an amazingly powerful emotion and with channeled energy this can be an impenetrable force. I can definitely believe that, although I do hope you are getting more sleep now

Yes, I often wonder that myself. I am very gifted when it comes to planning/organising/calculating and for those people who are in need of a plan of any sort when related to business I can practically create one in minutes in my head. It's weird as soon as someone mentions a business idea, strategy, technique or whenever me and my friends just talk socially my brain instantly tracks and targets anything to do with business and suddenly floods my brain with ideas, thoughts, plans...crazy brain ^^

Great advice dude, thanks for your input

This usually happens to me when I've just thought of some great new money making idea or some motivational book inspired me or something. It's all in how you harness that energy and put it to good use.

When I go to bed and finally don't have something in front of me I have to read or watch or do, that's when my creative and planning brain cells kick in, and then I can't sleep. Brainstorming is not relaxing - I usually just have to get up and start working on whatever it is I'm thinking about. Sometimes I wish I could just shut it off, but I do have some of my best ideas at night.

Enjoy it and take hold of it while you have it. Emotions as great as that don't always last forever. Unleash your desire on your work and you will see huge improvements (as I'm sure you already are, so I probably didn't even need to write that). My only word of warning is this:

If you start losing that feeling, don't worry, because it can always come back. If you chase it down though, you might find yourself looking for a long time. Just let the feeling come back of its own accord and make due with what you have at the moment. Your desire will pick up once you strike a chord with what you are doing in your life, or once you have another plan or goal to realize. So, don't take this feeling for granted (even though it can have its downsides of not sleeping and being anxious to get to work all the time).

Personally, I feel this feeling a lot and am loving it. It doesn't keep me awake at night too much because I have such an active life right now, so maybe all you need to do is take some time out of your work day and go run around or burn off some steam. It's always productive to take a break and come back refreshed

I'm pretty sure you'll like Hill's Law of Success too. It's flippin amazing.

K, I had this problem for a looong time and it messed with me a bunch and here's how I solved it

    1. Figure out exactly why I want to be successful!!
It turns out I wanted to be successful because I wanted to live a happy, healthy and free lifestyle. It took a bunch of thinking to realize it though.

    2. This one isn't really that much of an action step but I discovered balance and harmony. Life isn't about money and cars...it's about being happy. A balanced life is a happy life. The second I started making more friends and playing around was the second I boosted into success. Kind of weird when you think about it...success lesson #1: Almost everything counter intuitive to common sense is probably the right thing to do!!

    3. To help you with this...find The Master Key System. It's golden. I'm on the 4th lesson now and it's amazing. It'll really help you shut your mind off!!

    Hope this helps : )

    Hello willyboy 104

Desire is what drove the Caveman. It's a powerful characteristic when summed to your true healthy vibe.

Do you know what forced thoughts are ? They occur unknowingly when you take in slow poison chemicals found in some foods and various drinks. These man made agents when consumed in a incremental fashion can cause forced thought ( S. )

What are they ? I will name two but there are many more.

    google : msg side effects
    aspartame side effects

The Caveman ate well ,sleep like a baby and lived the dream built on Desire but he didn't consume man made fraken food .

This is one of the problems with being entrepreneurial. We are passionate about our desires and dreams. They take control of ourselves sometimes which gives us (and not others) the drive to make things happen instead of just thinking about them.

Every successful entrepreneur I know has certain nights where they have that burning idea or desire racing through their minds, making sleep difficult. And then when we eventually fall asleep, we keep a notebook next to our bed because those desires burn through our minds as we are asleep, sometimes waking us up. We write the ideas down in the middle of our sleep and now that that idea is memorilized, we drift back asleep, only to be awaken by another great idea, we write it down.

All entrepreneurs have nights like this. If this is most nights, then that may be a problem and you will need to learn how to reign back thsoe desires or channel them somehow so you can actually sleep...a very important thing for our body, mind and soul.

of course for how to do that, you need to speak to somebody else, i dont know exactly how to and dont want to give you bad advice!

Yeah dude that sounds exactly the way it is for me, but pretty much every night at the moment but i think its more so because i have a project currently running which i am very passionate about and very excited about.

I think i do need to learn how to control this energy and channel it accordingly because sleep is very important =D

You know, sometimes I don't even want to sleep but I know I have to, and if I do it's when my eye are literally closing. The desire is soo strong with me it's having an affect on my coursework. I'm in my final stages of my MSc course but IM and business keeps popping up. The entrepreneurial spirit in me is too strong and theres not 1 day where I'm not thinking "could this be a niche".

I feel for you dude, I am currently in my second year studying an Undergraduate course and I just don't have much motivation for the course anymore. I tried to fight the desire and motivation of Internet marketing so I could focus on my work but I just cannot control it anymore.

My University marks, coursework and attendance are all going down s**t creek but I can't do anything about it because at the same time my desire, entrepreneurial spirit as you may put it, is building and building hour by hour, day by day.

It seems many more people than I first thought, have this same problem I am having but heck, who cares, we all have desire, we all have motivation and a high flow of energy, channel it correctly and we will see results.

By the way, just as a random note. I had a dream the other night that I was Sir Alan Sugar's right hand man, and we were walking down a street in London and he was buying me a suite, so random, so weird not quite sure what message it is trying to communicate as of yet.

      Anyways.

Different subjects and different affairs are arranged in my head as in a cupboard. When I wish to interrupt one train of thought, I shut that drawer and open another. Do I wish to sleep, I simply close all the drawers and then I am - asleep. -Napolean
    Screw that guy.

I'm with you guys on this one; I'm a horrible sleeper. I've actually been sleeping with a notepad next to my bed for years now; Sometimes I wake up with strokes of brilliance written down.

often, with strokes of madness. :p

As for actually *getting* to sleep - come up with a "Happy place". A loose form of meditation.

I'm rather prone to imagine myself taking over Ancient Rome. Anything works really, the wilder the fantasy the easier to distract yourself from more pressing matters - until you can get that precious sleep.

It happens. I could still remember the day when I created my first product. I was awake till morning thinking about all the possibilities it can do for me and my life. Just do not get too carried away for you also need your rest.

Do not be like me. I ended up sick two days after.

Desire in my opinion causes excitement.Your excited because you have soo many idea's running through your mind and the possibilities of achieving a goal to better yourself. Now you have the desire to do it cause you already played it out in your head. But remember desire means nothing without action.Put your desires into action and make them a reality!

This is perfectly common, normal and very good. Such strong desire is the stuff from which winners are made. You are already a winner. Except that the hard work, harder than not being able to sleep, should begin now.

Get the ball rolling. Convert this strong feeling for success to a dream and turn the dream to reality. For me the dream is nothing more than a very ambitious business plan, which then you can refine on earth and execute.

Remember that this desire will dissipate if you do not take the bull by the horns now. The more you get lost in dreamland, the more distant you will be. Just act. NOW.

yes, i can relate to you..because i/we KNOW that basically everything is possible..its just a matter of doing. And often i simply cant stop doing, its like an addiction. Every project is *potentially* making a million (of course in reality it doesnt make that much ) - every site/keyword is *potentially* going to #1 in Google....every time i start keyword research i MIGHT find that crazy, incredible keyword...and so forth.

Sometimes i need to force myself to relax and not always have those ideas and thoughts in my head regarding what i want to do now. Its an addiction but i kind of like it.

But..i dont really have troubles sleeping, thanks god.

Hhaha, I still get this a lot too, but when I first started I would be up until 1-2am and had to get up at 5am to go to my factory job Strangely I wasn't tired, or maybe I caught up at weekends, but its a strange kind of drive / energy / obsession

I've got a little better, but I still check my emails most mornings before eating my breakfast

I think this drive will take you a long way!

Oh, and chocolate has caffeine in it so probably won't really help
