The Formation of Courage!

There are basically two motivating factors in life: The promise of pleasure and the fear of pain. Courage finds its basis in either or both. People will go to great lengths to avoid pain and equal lengths in the pursuit of pleasure. I you want to excel in life, the key is to exploit the motivating forces of either. In my case, I was motivated by both the fear of struggling to provide for my family and the dream of providing a wonderful life for my family. My encouragement came from the fear of being a caged employee for the rest of my life and the dream of having my own desirable business. I was both passionate about escaping from the disaster in life and hungry for something better. I knew clearly what I didn't want and had a clear vision for what I did want.

People may lack courage because they don't they don't have a purpose which ignites their passion. People may lack courage because they have just enough success not to live in fear of pain. People may lack drive because they have just enough comfort to take away the hunger for something superior. Current success can be the limiting factor for future success because it reduces a person's courage. So as you succeed you need to identify new causes that keep the courage in you. A country singer once said that the key of success was to live with one pocket empty and one pocket full. In other words, enjoy your successes but don't eliminate your need to keep producing value.

As with attitude, belief, and confidence, courage is a choice. If you lack courage, it's because you allowed yourself to settle. You have not cultivated the mental conditions that produces courage. You have allowed your external conditions to mellow you. Your impact in the world will never exceed you courage to have an impact. If you lack courage, something is wrong. Set about fixing it. Success isn't a result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire.

The right dream will come with the courage to make it happen. What ignites a fire within you? If dire circumstances are what you need to get you motivated, sit around long enough and dire circumstances will knock on your door. A compelling dream, however, often needs to be tracked down. Go out and find a dream that releases the COURAGE in you to stay up late and get up early. Don't wait for one to come to you or fall from the Sky.

Perhaps, you don't have to look any further. Perhaps, if you have a little bit more of curiosity, you may find just here an opportunity to change your entire life for the better. Let's be realistic, there is no promises to get rich faster or any quick scheme here. We've just realized the solution right under our noses. Come and see if will fit your profile and your dreams fulfillment. RIGHT HERE, The formation of COURAGE.

For the success of all COURAGIOUS people!

That's a great post! I like when you said, "You have not cultivated the mental conditions that produces courage" because I fully agree that life is about cultivating the right mindset for yourself. Whether it is for success, or for love or whatever, it's about the way you direct your mind and the actions that is produces.

I didn't necessarily agree with your first premise of, "There are basically two motivating factors in life: The promise of pleasure and the fear of pain." But, I guess that wasn't the part of your larger message. Good stuff in any case.
