The number one problem a newbie faces.

When we first start out on our online journey, we are immediately confronted with an avalanche of
information. It meets us from all directions. This is dangerous ground for the average newbie.
It is so easy to lose your head and start chasing different ideas. At every corner there will be an
offer that could change your life. The latest video course, another ebook that will make you rich in
thirty days.
Of course its not all rubbish. There are many people out there making fortunes on the Internet. Its
just difficult in the early days to keep the wallet firmly shut, and not fall for the information
overload trap. Never buy into anything on a whim.
Learn to trust. Follow others and watch as ideas develop. When you come across what seems an
unbelievable offer, research it. Google it and add scam after it. You may be shocked.
After a few weeks, you will find that you have downloaded a few free products and in the process
joined a few lists. Look for value from the emails that you receive. If someone is just trying to sell
to you it may be better to unsubscribe. Look for those that give you genuine advice and follow
those.
The newbie nightmare is definitely information overload. Once you have it, you end up chasing
dreams and ideas, and never ever committing to even one. You end up spreading yourself too thin
on the ground. You can't possibly make everything work. You have to commit to one idea and
follow through.
I think nearly all of us have confronted this nightmare at one time or another. If I can help just one
person to avoid this trap then its been worth the time to write this short post.
When you do have trust in someone and you feel that their product is one that you could invest in.
Make sure that you commit to it fully. Most people fail at this stage because they are so used to
being fed nonsense. Like Internet riches overnight. There is no magic button. It takes time and
commitment. Always follow through and take action. Nothing will ever happen if you don't.
Do not be disillusioned if you don't see results straight away. It takes time and will work if you
commit to that project only. Do not be afraid to make mistakes. We all make them and its part of
the learning process. You can and will achieve success online. Others do, so why not you?
The bottom line is to take action on a daily basis and don't be distracted by all the hype.

Nice post. Another big problem is that things start slowly.

    Like my latest Amazon efforts...

    Feb...0 sales.
    March 1 sale.
    April 2 sales.
    May 10 sales. Result!

    Hey Andy,

I couldn't agree with you more. I began looking into internet marketing in Nov. 2009. I've bought a bunch of courses, and spent thousands of dollars, and don't really have much to show for in monetarily.

I do believe this was necessary in a way though. I needed to test the waters and see what I liked and disliked before I could decide the path I wanted to take on the internet.

I'll agree with you on this one point completely. There are no get rich quick schemes that I've found, and I've looked at a lot of different things. If you want to succeed online, you've got to come up with system that works for you and stick with it. You will work hard, but it will be worth it in the long run.

Thanks for the post Andy. I really enjoyed it.

Great post Andy. There is no get-rich-quick-scheme. More of get-rich-quick-scams.

Lesson: Making money online takes hard work, focus and dedication. Success will bring you all the benefits and rewards that you thought were only possible in your dreams..

Also it's beneficial to filter all the information you are getting and then take action, or use Getting Things Done (GTD) techniques to make sure you are not sidetracked.

      Thanks!

        Hi Andy,

        Thanks for sharing your insight

Information overload is a concern. I agree that you must develop trust in a certain person or system if you are to become successful in this arena.

If someone takes a genuine interest in you there's a chance they will be a valuable mentor. Use your intuition! We inherently know when dealing with a scheister or an honest, caring person.

In addition to intuitive guidance continue to research on a daily basis. Take enough notes to write a 10 - 15 page ebook on working at home or your particular venture. It takes this level of due diligence to separate the facts from the hype.

          Hi guys,

Do you know I think its almost an apprenticeship that we go through. You walk through the arena door and the gurus are there waiting for you. Its a battle to get to the other side of the arena.
You have no weapons, well maybe a pocket full of dreams. They however are armed to the teeth. They carry such weapons as good copy and hype, and don't forget the free reports.
Once you have made it through the arena, most of us are much poorer and some of our dreams and beliefs have changed.
Every now and again though someone gets through and tells it how it is.
From this moment on we can start rebuilding the self-belief and become immune to the hype.
Its a learning proccess that we all go through, and a journey that we must make.
So we spread the truth for those to hear who are about to make the first steps on their online journey.
