Are You Prepared To Dance Until It Rains?

I like this video on the topic...

I was often puzzled when Jesus said " If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."

However, I have come to understand that if you have eternity then nothing is impossible.
The same idea can be found in the Chinese proverb which says "The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying a way small stones".

How long would it take you to literally remove a mountain by carrying away small stones? Time seems to be our main limitation. At least in this lifetime it is.

The other quote I like is that of Benjamin D'Israeli who when asked how he succeded when others could not do what he had done said; " Nothing can resist a will which will stake even it's existence upon its fulfillment." In other words; " I will do this if it kills me".

You read of examples of people quitting on the verge of success while others persist and, despite all the odds, break through to their success.

In contrast to all this persistence and achievement I have to say; "what is the purpose of it all"?
Like the writer of Ecclestiastes; "I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit".

I am not drawing any conclusions from this, just adding what I think to the mix in this thread.

What a thread josip! really enjoyed reading it ,so very motivating.I have this uncanny thread to give up at the first road block.i have often find myself unable to achieve even smallest of objectives because of this.

I love this quote. I find myself dancing and quiting, dancing and quiting every single day.

The key for me is getting up and doing it again the next day.

I like this analogy!

Keep going until you get to your goal. You choose whether to stop going or continue until you've reached it.

The funny thing about obstacles is that they were designed to propel you forward, not stop you. Those who learn to take the seed or growth from any obstacle moves forward quickly. They keep dancing no matter how much they hurt because they know that pain is a driver like no other.

I think persistence is the key to success. I also think you need a vision where you actually see yourself succeeding. You need inner confidence and strength to take failures and turn them into a learning experience.

I'm 21, and every month I have my mom complaining to me how she thinks I'm never going to make a lot of money online. I've been doing internet marketing for 2 years now, and I have a couple businesses that I'm sure will eventually make me a lot of money online. I'm never giving up. Unfortunately, I'm going to be getting away from my family when I do start making a lot of money.

Nothing is worse than not supporting your own kids. I have to deal with this all the time. It's very sad.

The average person does not understand how to make money. They go to work at a local job, and they make average pay. They complain about how they hate their jobs, yet they never do anything about it. This is something that I've never wanted to do.

Strong people can outlast the criticism from average people and use it to make themselves stronger. My task will eventually be accomplished, regardless of what anyone else thinks.

i find it mildly amusing sometimes that people that have not yet experienced the success in life they are looking for, have this illusion that successful people don't get knocked down.

and so the first time they get knocked down they quit.

a wise man once said 'True success comes from getting up one more time than you get knocked down'.

so, if you are down GET UP.

ALWAYS dance until it rains - what a great analogy.....and i ABSOLUTELY agree. You hear this consistently but very rarely do people follow through on it on a daily basis. But you can see why - no results after a period of time and people get frsutrated and move on, it is human nature. Life gets in the way and things that are creating pain versus pleasure get shelved. As they should.

Personally, I struggle with this regularly and have ups and downs. Aside from my online life, I run an software company (my fourth) and every day at some point I feel like cancelling the RAIN DANCE and taking a break. Staff issues, customer issues, operational issues - there is always something going on...... BUT....... to pay the price makes the reward more worth it in the end. The results will come if you stay the course and stay in the dance. Don't become a bad statistic about one that failed. Your results for your life rest on your shoulders. What is the story of your life going to look like?

What is failure? Is there such a thing? And why not reframe it altogether?

Simple put powerful frames of mind:
1. Success is measured by the number of times you have failed.
2. There is no failure, there are only setbacks.
3. Failure is the way in which people test and find out what doesn't work so they can get to the things that do work faster.

I sincerely thank you for this metaphor. I was pretty demoralized with my lack of success before read your article but now I ask myself:

Am I willing to dance until it rains?

And the only answer on my mind is, Yes, I am willing.

well the core point is that the successful man, has already achieved his goal before he has even started.

, this is something that cannot be taught nor learned, bought nor sold. it just has to manifest into knowledge though personal experience.

The Funny thing about those speed bumps you hit early on, is that they seem like mountains at the time. And then once you have passed them and think back. They most times weren't big problems at all.

Agreed. Persistance is key. I would only add that the key is to take one step at a time. And make every step a successful one. Before you know it, you're where you want to be.
