    That means this stuff matters to every single person in the world, that's how important it is.

    Thanks for video Tim, I hadn't seen that one before. If you want to see Dan Pink explain his ideas in more detail, he did an excellent TED talk.

    The difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation is like day and night. It isn't just important to motivate yourself - if you're clever about it, you can use it to motivate your buyers too.

    Nice, link, Daniel Pink is a fantastic speaker, I have been so busy preparing new products, producing a new ipad app, creating content, and just staying busy, as most of us are here, when I accidentally tripped over this video just sitting there and it really made me think, about what I was doing in online marketing...

    What a great video, it made me chuckle a bit though, I come from a Human Resources background, and it’s the type of thing that I have been trying to let managers know for the last 20 years!, how many times I’ve heard from managers “but I pay them enough, they should work hard”, I would be a multi millionaire.

    We are complex human begins, with different values and personalities, therefore with different motivational needs. To make the assumption that one thing works for all, such is money, is a big trap many managers and people fall into. Though one thing that I have found as universal in motivating people is making them feel a sense of belonging. Most people want to feel like they belong, they are part of something, a team, an organisation and more importantly its future.

    Yes, I imagine they really took a long time to get it just right, plus the content was interesting, as well, If you think about how the left brain right brain mechanism works, then adding great content and animation, is a very good way to teach and engage the audience.

    The use of engrams, or a device that triggers a common memory in the adult population is genius, for marketing, they do that in this video, and that is one of the more powerful aspects of this presentation.

    using an engram, like in the video Dan says, we have seen this movie before and they show an audience sitting in chairs, (we have all seen the chairs if you have ever gone to a movie,)

    That common experience is what using an engram is all about, it builds up trust that may not really exist, sure everyone may have been to a movie before, but when you add in that common experience of sitting in the same chair, then it doubles, the intimacy, of the presentation.

    That is an engram, the chair, triggers, a memory, making the presentation more appealing to you, the more appealing a presentation, is, (sales copy)

    The more likely you are to buy what if being offered.

    It is a very strong psychological selling mechanism,

    Exactly, if you can figure out what your customer, (employee) wants, and specifically create content/product then you can break into the sales barrier that so many marketers seem to find difficult if not impossible to achieve.
