Are you struggling because you're not happy - or unhappy because you're struggling?

Hi Warriors,

I was thinking about when I started out in IM and had big plans and expectations and then 6 months later, although I'd made a few thousand dollars the reality of not getting rich quick was setting in.

I was confident about things working out well and thought I was doing the right things but realised that it wasn't going to be as easy as I thought/hoped.

Fortunately things turned out way better than I possibly imagined at the time, but there were bumps along the way.

What I noticed when thinking about the journey was that the times when I lost confidence in whether things could end up the way I hoped, were also the times when I was less productive. In effect - when I doubted myself or my plan I ended up working less on making them happen.

It's a self-fullfilling prophecy.

But fortunately the converse was true too - when I was confident and happy and expecting good things - I worked harder and made more things happen.

So - if you're currently at a point in your journey where you're doubting yourself or your plans - Take a step back and realise that whatever you want for your future NOW is the only time you can make a difference.

Don't beat yourself up for not getting there as fast as you would like or even for not getting great results yet - the past is gone and the only thing that affects your future is how you live in the present.

If you're not seeing great results here's my honest advice for you:

1 - Take a step back and look at what you're doing - and WHY.

What is your big picture. What are your goals.

2 - Ask yourself if your current actions (not your planned actions but the ones you're actually doing) are really going to get you there.

Sometimes we get sucked into marketing strategies thinking that they're a business in themselves, but when we take a look in the cold light of day we see that they're just hopeful actions which we don't actually know will have the impact we're looking for.

3 - Get your head straight.

Whatever your situation is - feeling bad is a choice and only has a negative effect on your ability to take action to make it better.

If you're feeling bad about debts - don't buy a cake and watch tv to make yourself feel better - sell some stuff on Ebay and go for a walk and think about what you could do better.

Take it from me - when you're busy feeling good - it's impossible to also feel bad.

If you feel bad - do something that engages your mind. Listen to music you love or speak to a friend.

Consider starting an online business like gambling - all gamblers know not to get sucked into short term losses - or wins. They just part of a bigger picture which relies on you having a system/plan that you trust in to get you long term results.

Don't try to do everything yourself - meet others, work with others and make sure your business is something you love to do and to share.

When you create a positive vibe around you and your business - you suck in like minded people that result in new opportunities.

If you wallow in negative thoughts - you get the same - you attract negative people and close off your mind to opportunies.

Take your business as a journey and find a way to be happy with it - whatever the current situation is.

You can only ever be happy NOW. Don't put off doing what you love until later. Don't start a business doing something you don't care about.

Life's too short and if you make sure you enjoy the journey - the destination is much less important but you'll probably end up somewhere even nicer than you planned.

If you're not happy with things now - you won't be happy with them later either - it's all relative. Your bills will go up and your taxes will rise. Get happy now and take it with you on your journey.

Andy

I agree that I am more productive when I believe in what I'm doing and are happy about that. The hard part is to believe when things aren't going your way.

Thanks for this very good post.

THAT is what I believe to be the biggest problem that most people have.

I mean, I've been working on my state of mind all of my life and always been a positive person that easily let's problems stay in the past and I still get caught out sometimes when things trigger a previous negative state of mind.

So I know that if I still get these problems - someone younger than me who's still struggling is going to have to work hard to get their head right.

The thing that's affected my life the most is my ability to see when I'm going into a negative mood and kick myself back out before I get there.

It's something everyone can benefit from working on and it really does change your life as you get better at it.

It is a self-fulfilling prophecy all right!
One of my favourite quotes at the moment is "Success requires no apologies, failure accepts no alibies" by Napoleon Hill, "Think and grow rich".

*clap* *clap* Another excellent post by Andy Henry!

I can so relate to this. When I was unemployed and depressed about everyone thinking I was a lazy loser, I found it hard to really do Internet Marketing well because I just wanted fast money and when it didnt come it made even my more upset.

Yet now I have a job and dont worry as much about money and I'm actually making money online too.

Another example is when I use to have my old job and I played Poker Stars on the side, I was winning mostly because I was happy at the time. Yet once I lost my job, I kept losing and getting angrier and angrier even throwing furniture around my room and kicking things because I was losing literally a few bucks on Pokerstars LOL....

Yes I did end up quitting online poker...wasnt worth the stress

Point is do what you can to improve the bad areas in your life even if its just 1 major problem causing you grief, and you'll be surprised how it positively effects all areas in your life and business.
