What do you think are the 3 main obstacles to accomplish what you want?

1) Overthinking ---- Non-Clarity
2) Self Justification -- Living in past glories
3) Unable to be COMPLETE the task in hand

Lets identify and address it ourselves. Pls share yours.

    1) Not being focused (but to be fair to myself, I have terrible ADD...or something)
    2) Balancing to many things at once (my #1 problem does not help me here)
    3) When its really, really nice outside

Sandy you post some great points.

Not thinking or doing has its benefits. When relaxed mentally creative ideas flow smoothly. Successful people work but a portion of their work is smart work while the rest work hard all the time by trying to think everything through.

    2) trying to do too much at once
    3) so i always feel like, out of time, have too much to do, so i say, screw it, i'll do them later.

I actually find that when I don't think I have enough time to do something that it is often because I've just become soooo bored or unfocused with whatever it is that I'm doing, that I end up just sitting there not working. Now I basically move from project to project, but take time off to visit my favorite sites, watch a quick video, or basically anything that is a quick escape from work.

That's how I have time to post on here anyways

The main obstacles may be subconscious blockages to our path to great success. Consciously, we are all sure of our objectives and commitment, the problems, in my opinion, lie mostly in that side of us that we are less aware of: our subconscious mind. If our conscious and subconscious are perfectly aligned there is nothing stopping us from whatever we aim at.

I read this today and agree with you...the 'civil unrest' in our subconscious...I struggle with this too..

"The August 2011 riots in England are a good example of subconscious conditioning on a mass level...

From August 6 to 10, 2011 widespread looting and arson broke out in London. Five people died. 3,100 people were arrested. Over £200 million in damage.

By day three it had reached a peak. Criminals were stealing and destroying in broad daylight. They weren't even bothering to hide their identity.

But by the fourth night people stopped expecting the outnumbered police to keep them safe.

People started banding together. The Muslim and Sikh communities, in particular, led the improv neighborhood protection programs. These vigilantes would patrol the streets themselves in large groups. They'd arm themselves with anything they could get. Sales of baseballs bats went up 6,500% on Amazon UK.

Out of these terrible riots came a wonderful conclusion:

People overcoming their "someone else will take care of me" subconscious programming. We all have it. If you're alive today it's because someone else took care of you for at least the first 7 years of your life.

      (Probably longer)

Now I hope you don't have civil unrest taking over your city block. But personal problems can seem just as chaotic. It's important that we don't revert back to the subconscious programming we received during the first seven years of our life.

We can't assume that someone else take care of it.

Just like the British could not rely on the overwhelmed police force.

In the Subconscious Liberation video interview I talked about this in great detail. If you haven't watched it yet, click here. (just sharing link - am not an affiliate)

For the first few years of our life, we'd soil our diaper, scream, and then someone came and cleaned us up.

Even though, one day, we learned to take care of business on our own... we still grew up with the subconscious idea that someone else would take care of problems for us.

When we were three years old it was excusable. Someone had to put a spoon in our mouth or we'd die.

Today, we can do it ourselves.

It's difficult, nonetheless. Those first 7-12 years of being babied are hardwired into our subconscious. If anything frustrates or scares us, we naturally would like someone else to handle it.

That's why I created Liberate Your Life. 60% focuses on uprooting your Inner Critic.

Your Inner Critic is that childish voice inside your head that tells you that "you can't handle it."

It's been looting and terrorizing your life ever since you were 12 years old. Possibly longer. It's an outdated part of your subconscious mind.

Liberate Your Life will help you drive it out of your subconscious city. Once it's gone (or at least arrested) you can get busy meeting all the exciting and opportunistic challenges of life.

Constant vigilance is one the secrets to a great life.

For me the main obstacle was lack of FOCUS. This was because I did not have a clear and important enough REASON to really put myself out there and make my life what I want it to be.

And then life provided said reason, in the form of the prospect of raising a small child on my own with virtually no support from my ex-husband and no job to go back to. And that was when I sat down and said to myself, OK, this is what I really want and this is why. From that point on things really began to happen.

It really seems like if you give your mind a clear enough purpose, life will take care of the details. So the bad things that might happen to us are really opportunities for change for the better.

This is not to say that we should wait for the bad things to happen... we just need to come up with a good enough reason to be successful

I think the three things are:

        1) know what you want
        2) have the desire to get it
        3) have the ability to get it

1 and 2 could likely be combined (i.e. if you really want something you will have the desire to get it).

So IMO the "obstacles" would be a failure on any of these 3 points

    1. Procrastination- This particular thing is my biggest enemy....!! I even lost $500 coz of this
    2. When you feel sleepy

    3. No definite plan

    4. No goals...

For me these are the 4 major obstacles. I have overcome the last 3...but procrastination is something i am working on..!! I am almost done it also...but still not totally over it.

I realise here that people are looking more for psychological tactics to help them with getting stuff done. However I feel that I do have something valuable to offer here which comes at this from a biochemical perspective.

Having studied how brain chemistry affects our moods, thoughts and behaviour, I see there is evidence that suggests that the problem of not getting tasks done due to lack of concentration, poor motivation, ADD type problems and lack of clarity can be down to a lack of dopamine in the brain. You can increase dopamine by taking L-tyrosine which is an amino acid. Between 500mg and 1000mg taken 20 minutes before breakfast and lunch can be very helpful. Contraindicated if you have high blood pressure, schizophrenia, melanoma, or are on L-dopa, thyroid medication or tricyclic type and MAO inhibitor type antidepressants.

As for living in past glories, people who spend a lot of time reminiscing about the past often have low serotonin levels in the brain. This can be increased by taking L-tryptophan which is also an amino acid. 500mg with a carbohydrate meal has been shown to be helpful in many cases. It is also possible to take 5HTP at a smaller dose of 50mg - 100mg. Do not excess 400mg a day. Contraindicated if you are on anti-depressants.

However do not construe any of this as medical advice. Consult your doctor before taking supplements and discontinue if breastfeeding.

Our own plan of today is not attractive tomorrow, very right - changing plans is one of the concerns.

Lets deal with it ! - I feel WHY we do this is there are so many tasks in our own plan which we don't like or not have the ability to do.

Nowadays, I make small plans and outsource many of the tasks.

      Very Apt.

      Plan by itself is useless.

Why do we plan something which we ourselves don't do ??

I need to correct myself here.

I agree...It would be worthless to keep on planning without putting them in action...

And one of the many obstacles I can think of is having no faith in oneself...Self-confidence is very important to succeed

    sandy,

    1. I can act and make a sale when i'm not clear or had a beer
    2. I can act and will remember what I did right and wrong better than what happened last week, last month, or in my childhood.
    3. I can act and then know exactly what happened, no over thinking it.

    is the real obstacle inaction?
do we frame our thinking a certain way? and does the culture have an impact on the how we think?

maybe part of it is - we overthink because our culture is built on the internet speed & "just google it" combined with the magic bullet that is easy and requires no work, to get rich, etc..,

less focus on work ethic, more on Secret tactics, the lastest and greatest wso. thinking about all the obstacles that can exist in the world.

overthinking "if I just have the right beliefs, attitudes, lifestyle, time management skills, product or service, mentor, office space, what in my psychological profile is stopping me from finding the Key that opens a door to all I want etc.., then when it's perfect....! then, I will ....... be successful, be happy...etc..,

maybe the problem is we perceive it as an obstacle to avoid and not one we have to face head on and that leads us to think too much.

if you just acted 1st and foremost....would everything else fall into line? I think so.

even Tony Robbin's holy grail of - "beliefs, actions, results" can be drilled down.

which 1 of them do you have to experience to effect the others and your world externally? If you could only choose 1, which would it be?

I can take an action, even though I don't belief it.

I can't belief it so much, and the visualize the results so well, that it just happens before my eyes.

    my 2 cents

I would say that it is not over thinking, but probably information overload which often results to confusion on what to do first and which would be my priority. Thinking too much can be a problem since your mind would always conceptualize something even when it is not related in what you have been doing. To avoid this over-thinking or information overload that they call, it is best to focus on one niche or work before trying to take another work or niche. In this, you could learn to prioritize which work or niche to work on first and then followed by the next. Since it is difficult for people to work with two or more niche and work at the same time. Like what they say, "You cannot serve two masters at the same time".

The second one, regarding self-justification, I could say that I am guilty to that, lol. As we all know, we are our own boss in the IM business and we could justify our actions like doing nothing at some point during your daily routine. Since you are your own boss, justification would always be that there are always tomorrow to continue what have been done on that day. Making excuses like that often results to unproductive time and in some way, wasting your time doing nothing. It requires discipline to really be productive and successful in the IM world, and that motivation and the desire to really work your way to really earn the money that you have been dreaming to earn.

Just always have a positive mindset and that you should have to set a goal in life.
