    Hi Maddiet,

I don't dwell much on bad times these days. I had a long stretch of being depressed a number of years back.

What got me through it was the belief that whoever suffers the most, God intends for those people to shine the brightest for others in the future.

I became the person I am today because I experienced the depths of despair. If I hadn't, I would have remained comfortable and lived a mediocre, ho-hum life.

This belief, along with taking FULL responsibility for my thoughts, feelings and actions freed me. Sure I didn't want to hear it at the time and was p*ssed at the people who told me to take responsibility but with time and experience I realized how wise these people are.

The wisest know that taking responsibility for yourself during tough times leads quickly to great times.

Oh boy! Is someone going through the grinder?

Here we go then (in brief): I have been suffering with depression on and off (more on than off) for the last twenty years. It's cost me four relationships, three of which were mariages and access to to 4 children. Several jobs and an online business (which I did completely wrong from the off).
The upshot of all this is that in the last three years alone I have almost died from; 1. A dihydro-codeine overdose 2. An insulin overdose 3. Exsanguination via the forearms.
Then last year, I had a complete breakdown on the side of a Welsh mountain that cost me my girlfriend and several pints of blood. I was desserted in Abberystwith A&E broke, and with nothing but the shorts and t-shirt I was wearing. I was transported from there to the local mental health hospital where I stayed for four months.

    Not good huh? BUT...

I met my current partner in there and things are getting better all the time. I'm taking my time learning proper IM techniques and getting the stuff together I need to succeed. I have recently got back in touch my eldest son (19). My partner has a son (21) and although I'm not his dad you'd never know it.

So the answer to your question is twenty years in Hell and only now over the last 10 months has it improved. As for what helped me through it all? The belief that one day things would get better, that and a very special book...The Lord of the Rings.

    Mac.

Can you please write about your worst period in life: While I understand that other people's hard life experiences can empower people who are trying to rise up, I personally choose Not to dwell in "what was" anymore. It no longer serves me or empowers me.
I choose to live in Joy and be the best person I can possibly be, each day.
Everything in life is a choice, be it conscious or not.

    Cheers
