Do You Feel That Creation Kills Stress?

Earlier today I was riled up, looking for a fight

After I decided to write a series of articles the feeling subsided until I calmed down a bit. After shooting a few videos the tension alleviated entirely.

This happens every time I create. My mind moves from my negative feelings toward helping others. It's like a cure all.

Has anybody had a similar experience with this?

Oh yes, plenty of times! When I feel a bit stressed, I get to work on my projects. I get so involved working on them that I totally forget about stress. No need to visit the fridge or turn on the tv.

      Absolutely yes!

Except with with me, if I'm a little stressed out and I'm also in the middle of a writing project, continuing with my work doesn't quite cut it.

I'll just let the creative juices start to flow. It may be about what is bothering me, and the piece ends up being for my eyes only, or perhaps about what I'd like to be doing where I'd like to be doing it.

Either way, it requires fun to be involved, and yes, much to my chagrin, slamming someone that I'm upset with using words...is fun!

Sometimes I even just let my imagination take over and just follow it. Then when I feel that the tension has eased, I continue with my project and my work actually benefits from it as I am in "the zone".

Most definitely, whenever I'm creating something, whether it it writing an article, painting a picture, designing a logo for a new site etc there is no stress whatsoever and in fact I only feel the complete opposite - excitement and eagerness!

Creativity is the best medicine to stress, depression and restlessness. When the day is full of tensed moments, things are going astray, things are beyond control and nothing is happening in favor; what you need is doing something different. And creativity can make this difference. Listening to music or composing a tune, writing a tiny poem or calling a friend to discuss old memories of junior school can help you have a fresh mind and after that you can think about the problematic issues with better insight and innovativeness.

I think it's not just creation that kills stress, but just doing something, not related to the things which caused your stress in the first place, is the answer. For some it's working for others drinking .

When I feel stressed out and ready to punch someone in the face, I go out for a run, do some pushups or something like that. It actually helps, I can do more push ups than when I' m not.

Stress is just an energy, you can transform into something more useful.

This is because it is impossible to think 2 thoughts at the exact same time. For example, if you attempt to count to 10 and then someone tells you to say "cute puppy" when you're on number 6, your counting does not continue. It's interrupted. Sames goes for switching from focusing on the stressor to something else more productive. It works every time.

Sure - anything creative "kills" stress. Stress comes from feeling disconnected - out of the flow of energy, and to be creative you have to merge back into it.

One of my great stress relievers is to go and play my guitar for half an hour. It upsets the neighbours, but hey, I guess they've got their own guitars! (Just kidding - about the neighbours, not my guitar).

    Thanks for the question!

    All good things,
    Trevor.

Yes, because creativity can solve the problem as well as keep you off the idea of being angry or whatever it is that was making you down.

Oh hell yeah. When I'm working towards my goals my life becomes amazing. I'm not worried about anything anymore. Simply accomplishing. When I'm working I know that I'll be able to pay my bills. It actually is harder to be lazy. Like in school when I would get good grades I had nothing to worry about. When I was being lazy, life not only got harder, but I was a million times more stressed.

Putting your mind to an idea generally helps I believe, In my case if ever I do somehow become stressed I blur through work and that alone once i'm done cures any poor mood or stress I may have been feeling.

I think it's a focus thing. The mind can't do 2 things at once.
If your creating, you can't be angry

Yes, I do. For me, it's all about mind diversion. When i'm angry at the moment or I don't like the situation, I'll just keep myself busy for another thing, like watching comedy movies, listening to my favorite music or go out and buy favorite food to eat, lol
