What is an IM / what do they do?

If you do any sort of marketing on the internet, that's internet marketing.

Marketing encompasses all "the activities of a company associated with buying and selling a product or service" (dictionary.com).

Don't be afraid to ask for advice, nobody seems to be using it, but they are very happy and glad to share it with you.
When you are ready to move to better and more in-depth things, then make sure you sign up for the forum, as you get access to a higher level of users with the membership. Also, a little more interesting information and a lot of free stuff.
The membership is a one-time fee, it's either 37 or 47, it's been a couple of months, and my memory seems to go more often these days, need to make sure I find a replacement battery for my cmos. (just kidding.)

Yeah IM is a weird definition. I guess the general definition is one who does any kind of marketing on the internet. Marketing can be active marketing, brand management, etc.

It is often associated more specifically with people who do any kind of affiliate marketing and digital product creation but others would argue it encompasses seo and any traffic generation activity.

So I guess it may mean slightly different things depending on the context its used.
