Where did you do your training, who was your trainer?

Tell me more about NLP training.

Wyatt Woodsmall is doing a 6 day NLP course in LA in Oct. I was thinking of going.

Hi there, I'm a certified trainer of NLP. I was trained and certified by Tad James, John Overdurf and Julie Silverthorn. I've been using NLP in business since the early 90s.

I saw Eben Pagan promoting the course with Wyatt Woodsmall. Wyatt has been around since the early days of NLP and for a while worked together with Tad James to present trainings. I have not personally trained with Wyatt but I have studied some of his recorded materials. He definitely knows his stuff. I believe that he was the first person certified as a Master Trainer of NLP.

It seems that NLP trainings are getting shorter and shorter these days. I'm not sure what certification (if any) will be offered at this event or whether certification is important to you which brings me to the question:

What do you want to get out of the training? How do you see yourself using NLP?

Its not full nlp certification or anything like that.

Apparently, to become an nlp practicioner you must go through a 21 day course. This is just a six day course mostly related to nlp in business, which is why I was interested in it.

I was just hoping to learn a few core skills to to take my thinking to another level.

To be honest, i've now decided not to attend the course. Not because I don't want to or I think it won't benefit me, because I do, and I think it will. Just not the right time for me.

    Thanks for your response.

I have studied a wide variety of psychological concepts. NLP is wonderful for what it does and has quick results most of the time.

Diversify your portfolio of thought in this field; the more vast your knowledge the greater your persuasion power as I assume you are trying to obtain in order to make money easier on the internet.

    Hope this helps,

    -Ryan

I don't know a lot about NLP, but what I have read make me want to take a course in it someday. It seems to have almost miraculous results most of the time!

It's great to see so much enthusiasm for the (seemingly) magical powers of NLP. It is without question the fastest way to get from where you are to where you want to go (assuming you have defined where you want to go) and for those who are interested and want to put NLP to work in the context of influence and persuasion, I have a nice surprise up my sleeve.

In the meantime, if you have a question related to persuasion, influence and sales, post it in this section and I will be sure to give you my feedback.

    Andy.

My DH has quite a bit of experience. He has read Bandlers books also. I can't really give much of an opinion except that it is an amazing technique to learn. Great for communicating with others.

      Loving this interest in NLP

Hey Andy, whatcha got up your sleeve?

I'd like to use NLP more in a training room - I heard open and closed loops are good for that but not sure how to use them. Any ideas or references?

        Hi Mello,

NLP methods are awesome in the training room. I love to use NLP when training others. When you do too, you will have your audience spell-bound and hanging on your every word.

There is only one book for you to get right now: Training Trances by John Overdurf and Julie Silverthorn, ISBN: 1555520693. Grab their book and devour it, then put it to use. Your entire experience as a trainer will change - forever!

As for what I have up my sleeve, I don't want to give too much away just yet. I'll let you know when I can.

        Andy.

Hey there Andy, I want to use it mainly for self improvement. I have only skimmed over it thus far & it seems very interesting, but I was wondering what product would teach me the basics (lets say NLP for dummies, there is actually a product out there called that but I havent heard good things about it, yeah so something that would teach the foundations). Thanks. Cain

Yes there are NLP books for dummies BUT the best introductory book I can recommend to you as you start learning NLP for self improvement is Unlimited Power by Anthony Robbins, ISBN: 0684845776.

It's the book that got me started on my path twenty years ago.You simply cannot go through his book, perform the exercises and emerge the same person.

Let me know if I can offer any insight to you as you take your own path.

      Andy.

Many thanks Andy, I am a big Anthony Robins fan actually but havent gone through that book yet. Only yesterday I was listening to his 'awaken the giant within', I do love his material when I need a boost. I will definitely get that book you recommend. Many thanks again & I will keep you updated on my adventure Cain

No problem. Great to hear that you are already familiar with Tony's work. Another suggestion I might offer is that you grab a copy of the tape/CD set Unlimited Power. This will help you internalize the program and take your learning to a different level.

FWIW, you can get the audio version of the book for next to nothing on Ebay.

And DO keep me updated on your adventure! It will be a great one for sure!

I learned about anchoring in a fan book about Derren Brown. So, as any normal person would do, I started using it on as many people as I possibly could.

Most people think I'm eccentric, but I'm just using my actions and speech as anchors.

    I think that's about all the NLP I know/use.

I am an NLP master practitioner, and did a 24 day course over 6 months here in Australia. I have to admit that I am definitely a fan. It has helped me in business, relationship but most of all personal development.
