You're Worth More Than You Think: An Inspirational Story

Hey guys, I recently heard an incredibly inspirational story that I wanted to share with all of you and hope that it makes you think and look within yourself as much as it did for me. I found myself really looking inward after hearing this story and inspired to give myself more credit for my capabilities.

This is the story of the late Danny Gans. For those of you who don't know who Danny is, prior to him passing away, he was one of the biggest entertainers in the history of Las Vegas. For years, Danny had dreams of being a professional baseball player. It was his passion, his burning desire. Unfortunately, a career-ending injury robbed him of that opportunity.

What that injury forced him to do was fall back onto his second passion, which was to entertain people, to make them laugh, and to amaze them with his hilarious impressions! He toured all over the U.S. doing these impressions in all kinds of small venues, big venues, wherever he could to make people laugh. He developed a very good reputation using 100% clean material. He did of work for all kinds of corporations, entertaining at their various events.

Finally, one day, Danny got his big break: he was invited to entertain in Las Vegas! He was invited to open for none other than superstar comedian, Bill Cosby. Wow...from entertaining people as a second option, to opening for Bill Cosby in Las Vegas! Talk about a great opportunity! And let me tell you, Danny took full advantage of it.

He got up in front of the room, who were there for the "real" star, Bill Cosby and had them absolutely spellbound! For 30 minutes, he mesmerized them with his impressions, his clean jokes, and undeniable presence. When Bill Cosby came out after Danny, he was so blown away that he said, "Listen folks...I wanna bring Danny back out on the stage again and let's give him another 30 minutes." And Danny did it...and it was absolutely incredible!

From that performance, his real opportunity came when casino mogul, Steve Wynn called Danny up and said, "Mr. Danny Gans, I wanna have you come to my office. I wanna talk to you about an opportunity that we might have for you here at our casino."

And there Danny Gans was, preparing for the speech he's about to give Mr. Steve Wynn. What he was going to say...how he was going to sell himself to Steve Wynn. After consulting some of his close friends, he decided that he was worth a million dollars a year. So in preparation, Danny, in his head, was thinking over and over, "I'm worth a million dollars a year. I'm worth a million dollars a year."

Danny walked into Steve Wynn's office, sat down, and Mr. Wynn said, "Danny, I wanna cut right to the chase. I've seen you and you are a star in the making! I wanna sign you to a contract to be a part of our casino."

At that point, Danny's thoughts are running wild. "2 year deal, maybe a 3 year deal...please, please," he thought. Steve Wynn blew him away with what he said next: "Danny, we're prepared to offer you a 10 year contract at the Mirage. What's it going to take to get you to perform for us for the next 10 years?!"

Danny Gans, trying not to show his surprise, amazement, and excitement, does the simple math and blurts out, "$10 million." Steve Wynn, looked him right in the eye and said, "Ya know what...DONE. I'll draw up the paperwork and send it to your hotel suite later this evening."

The paperwork came that night and Danny, who was still beaming in excitement, opened up the paperwork and read the contract. It was for $10 million a year for 10 years!! He went on to become entertainer of the year for 10 years in a row! Sold out stadiums, no seats available, one of the hottest shows in Vegas...he was a star's star!

Now, you may be asking, how does this apply to me, my opportunity, or network marketing in general? Here's how...you need to understand that you have more to offer people than you can even imagine. You are worth more than you think; you are capable of more than you think; you can have more of an impact that you think.

So if you're one of those people who maybe have doubts or are unsure of what you have to offer, remember the story of Danny Gans, and truly believe that you ARE worthy or great things and you are capable of changing your life and the life of others.
And for those people who are sure of what they have to offer and have no doubts about their worthiness, then remember the story of Danny Gans, and find someone doesn't have that and HELP them see it!

This applies to uplines, downlines, sidelines, some person on the forum, or even a random person you come across in life. If everyone either realized their worth or had help realizing it, think about what life would be like for people!!

I hope you guys took something from this story. I found myself mesmerized by it and inspired to push my thinking...I hope you guys can do the same!

Yours in success,

Jason

        Hi Jason,

        Great story!

It´s not always easy to believe that you´re worth more than you think you are, but I agree, it´s a fantastic mindset to get yourself into.

        Thanks for posting.

        Take care,

It's 10 million per year, so that's 100 million in ten years.

@OP: Thanks for sharing this inspiring story. We have to realize that we are worth more than what we think. I can really relate to this story. I was a promising basketball star when I was in high school here in the Philippines, then when I was going to college, I suffered a career-ending, dream-shattering injury that forced me to stop playing basketball.

And now I'm here, doing internet marketing now for 3 years, and I have yet to achieve the goal that I really wanted. Sometimes we have to encounter some worst experience that will lead us to change path and to greater opportunities, we can't have all the things that we want, but we can want all the things that we have.

        Thanks for sharing this.

Are you in a bad mood today? This is the second rude/negative post I've seen from you today alone. Maybe take a step back from your computer for a breather for a bit?

I think this thread is exactly where it should be. It teaches an important lesson about marketing yourself and your own products. Do not undersell yourself.

Just because someone else is willing to settle for $7 for an Ebook does not mean you should not ask for $97, just make sure you deliver true value like Danny Gans did.

Thank your for the great share, Jason!

Glad to see so many people enjoyed this story. Of course there are always people who complain and act as the forum police, but not much I can do about that!

Let's all give ourselves a little more credit or find someone who needs a boost!

    Yours in success,

Thanks for that Jason. I was just getting ready to go to bed and decided to read just "one more thing". I choose the right thing! Just ignore the bothersome gnats that fly around trying to annoy us. We choose our own emotions and I choose to be happy and positive! Like Danny.

Really inspiring story, and it shows how many of us have the intrinsic tendency to underestimate ourselves and overall self-worth; this is why it's crucial we surround ourselves with positive people who can support and uplift us to achieve our loftiest goals and dreams. I know that this is such a cliched axiom, but it is true - make sure you're surrounded by the right people!

Hi Jason, Thanks for this great story. It is so true. I remember I once got a sales job where I had to state on the application form how much I expected to earn. I put a high figure and got the job. I found out later that this was what the company had mainly based my application on. Most people had put an average earnings figure. So yes, very important to remind ourselves regularly of our worth.
