Are your inputs going to get the out puts you want?

Here is a friendly reminder that everyone should stop and think about once in a while.

When taking action and working, stop to think if this is the most effective way to get this done. I know some people like to have the television on when they are doing work but really this is a distraction that is hurting there productivity.

Or worse, they are doing work that is not important, such as checking up on friends on facebook when really work should be getting done.

Stay focused and keep the goals in mind.

In my experience, new entrepreneurs can get caught up in the minutia of daily time wasters because they have not yet learned to focus. At some point, however, if you are in business for yourself, you are going to be in a position where your back is against the wall and you need to generate cash FAST.

The only way to make it is to cut anything that is not generating revenue for your business immediately. TV, Facebook, checking email/traffic stats too often... all of it goes away because you have no choice but to deliver.

Once you hit that danger zone once or twice, you can usually develop better habits so that you avoid having it happen again. In rare cases, some entrepreneurs are motivated enough to not let this happen but in my experience... most people reach a point like this at some point in their career.

I admire your ability to do this! I do get into that phase sometimes when something really needs to get done, but unfortunately sometimes I let the little things distract me.

One thing I really found that helps against distraction is a plugin for Firefox called "leechblock" - it really stops me wasting my time browsing websites that add absolutely nothing to my life!

    Excellent advice IM Pro.

I have focused on effectiveness recently. Get the bang for your buck, time wise. Make each action targeted and focused. Setting time limits on tasks and frequently stopping to ask yourself why you are doing what you are doing helps to promote effectiveness.

Yeah. I'm agree to IM PRo. You need to be focused in what you are doing. I believe that "You cannot do two things at a time."

So true! In fact, I started planning my breaks ahead of time - even things like taking your eyes off of the screen or stretching every half an hour is a good idea.

Distractions can be subliminal as well.... including the color of your walls.... look all around you and at things with different eyes..... you are attaching some sort of mental energy (consciously or subconsciously) to EVERYTHING. Not all energies are good for you.

Have a list of goals and objectives. Have a ToDo list and a Calendar.

Follow the rule: If I do not have a goal relating to this task, do not do it... or create the appropriate new goal.
