Anybody Ever Been to An NLP Course

I don't mean on the internet or ebook but an actual in-person course.

I'm near New York and there are a few there, I've been considering attending one but wanted to see if anybody else has done one and what their experience was like....

Thanks,
Simon

You are comparing apples with oranges when you ask for "attended a NLP course". There are plenty of courses out there with _very_ varying degrees of quality. There is no institution overseeing the quality, and most "certification" procedures are useless.

Generally speaking, you'll get out of it what you put into... and a 3-4 day course won't get a good result. Look for a practitioner course covering a time span of 20 days or so.

Google Wyatt Woodsmall or Robert Dilts.

Thanks - yep it was Eban Pagan promoting Wyatt that prompted me to ask the question!

Thanks for the advice - much appreciated.

I have long been a believer in NLP, ever since I lost 40 pounds in three months using it, and loving every minute of it; well, most every minute.
There are surely varying levels of quality in the courses available. My advice would be to read the books, explore the resources online. And if a live conference comes to your area hosted by an author you connect with, go to that one.

    Haha. Thank you, Simon.
Just remember the words of Roman statesman and orator, Seneca:
"I don't consider myself bald. I am simply taller than my hair."

there is a lot going in the NLP area and really you should focus on what you want to get out of it. I am a great admired of Robert Dilt, one of the founder, as I am more life and health coaching inclined.

I even enjoyed the Tony Robbins version that uses NLP amongst show tricks, such as having people do a firewalk.

For a more professional approach however and to use the learned skill in work performance or to teach other consider the diploma of well established schools, may be the one who have either Richard Blander or one big name as special event trainer in their brochure.

Yeah, I have. But its a kids kind of 'camp'. Basically its just a 'motivational' and 'study skills' camp but being clever myself, I know that the technique behind everything is NLP. Just that they don't say "Oh, c'mon, we're teaching you NLP.".

Once I'm 18 I'll consider getting an NLP Practitioner Cert.

  • Unfortunately, in my country the closest to the NLP seminar is the speed-reading course ( ), so I can not help you, all about NLP I learned from books and trial and error... sorry... I wish you luck in the search.

    Hi Simon,
I have not personally attended a course, however, the last job i was in we had to learn to train our customers how to sell in retail. This involved NLP, its actually alot of fun & can change your life at home too. I would recommend for you to have a look at it. Will you be using it for work purposes?
