Beliefs About Hard Work?

This post dovetails my Hard Work vs Smart Work thread, wanted to start a new one.

What are your beliefs about working long and hard?

Do you believe that busting your a** brings fortunes? Do you believe that you telling people that you work hard is a creation of your ego, and that nobody cares if you work hard? LOL, I used to tell people that I worked hard until I realized that it put no money in my pocket. Creative ideas, coupled with ingenuity and a fair share of effort - not killing yourself, mind you - bring money. The more creative acts, the bigger the fortune.

I remember the classic line from Wall Street from Gordon Gecko where he said that his dad worked hard and all that it got him was a heart attack and a load of bills when he died.

Effort is required to achieve goals. Remember this though before you rush into a hard work consciousness:

By Thought, Whatever You Want Is Brought To You. Through Acting, You Receive It.

Most people focus 90% or more on receiving and spend little time cultivating their vision, or more importanty, *being mindful of their thoughts while they work!*

What's your take guys? How much time do you spend with each component of the Thought/Action ratio? Are you aware of your thoughts as you work? Most people spin their wheels because they are not.

One of the biggest issues in this part of the forum is a disbelief in letting
go. You have to know when to say when. Failure is an option.

Hard work is (sometimes)its own reward.

    Work harder at working smarter.

You can't just work hard. You have to work hard at the right things.
    Choose wisely.

I like these threads. Gets us mulling things over.

People spin their wheels more IMHO by not concentrating on stuff that
matters. A lot of us, me included, can't give up our pet ideas. We swear
if we just work harder, we'll succeed.

I concentrate more on "thought before doing" now more than ever.

Instead replace the word failure to "Learned from experience" that will keep you up even if the quote "learned from experience" (failure) comes.

Have you ever considered that thinking (using the Beta brain state) is the "hard" way to do things. However, if you relax into the deeper brain states, pretty much anything you need answers to comes your way without effort.

North American mindset is to work hard. This is being replaced with work smart - thinking. Step beyond this to work effortlessly by learning how to relax and go with the flow.

One more thing - regarding action. Nothing happens without activity. Action should come when you "feel" it is the right thing to do. If you are trying to "force" things to happen you are doomed from the start.

I agree to the above - the secret is working harder on the smart things in a smart way.

I completely believe that a lot of people think things have to be hard or they don't deserve what they get. I'm not saying that we can all get where we want to be without any effort, but we don't have to work long hours, not getting enough sleep, struggling to get by daily life, just to call ourselves a success. In fact, that's the opposite of success. In truth, real success is working smart - giving yourself the time and freedom to live your life you want it right now instead of just working hard for the "future". The only moment you know you have is right now, so enjoy it!

  • I am VERY aware of my thoughts (and actions). I make a clear point to be.

Paul made a good point when he said "Work harder at working smarter".

I try my best to find where my time is most valuable in my business and focus my energy on that.

I spend the other time figuring out ways to automate the rest

Contrary to the popular belief, more time should be spent for thinking and planning and less time should be spend acting. One of the management gurus said, to cut a tree in two hours one should sharpen the axe for eight hours. It is shocking for many conventional thinkers. Smart thinkers always think differently, it is more creative and less efforts!

I try and use the Sedona Method/ Release Technique when setting goals. Whenever I do this I usually find easier ways to reach my goals. This is kind of the opposite way of the Tony Robbins take massive action approach. But they both work.

It starts with vision. That ensures Integrity, which is key.
All the "make a million dollars this year" wishes are just that: wishes.
The goals that spring, spontaneously and inevitably from your true Vision, are the
ones that will change your life.

It is amazing to me that I use to think that hard work was physical labor, not so anymore. Mental work online is very hard work. I feel it is easier to do physical labor than to spend hours online.

Both types of hard work are good. I believe that hard work does not necessarily produce the results I am looking for, therefore, to work smart to produce money far outweighs hard work without money.

I grew up working hard physically. Now I am learning to work smart on the internet. I am learning a lot from this warrior forum and it is great to be among successful people. I am a newbie at this, but learning quickly.

Both are important. Hard work is really effective but that would be useless if you don't have a good skills in creating your job well. Or creating short process like discovering effective strategy. In short, you need to have an angle.
