Warriors I need help taking action

I've gotten three WSO's and Sara's Easy Paycheck Formula plus I am still looking at that Blog Empire topic, but I keep procrastinating. I need to take action.

And I have several free courses saved on my computer.

When some of you were starting out, what did you do to motivate yourself to take action?

I got one thing to motivate me but I don't think it's good enough.

Breaking things down into smaller chunks and set yourself deadlines.

So if it's making your first website, break it down like this:

    1. Register domain name (10 mins)
    2. Create hosting account (5 mins)
    3. Install Wordpress (3 minutes)
    4. Select new theme (5 minutes)

    etc

You'll see how much you can get done in an hour.

There's so many programs out there that I can't really decide where to start. I've been wanting to try Bum Marketing since it's free and straight to the point, but I've also considered starting my own blog and work from there.
There's the problem - you posted the paragraph above over a month ago.

In the past two months you have mentioned abut 7-8 different money making WSO's/products/methods. Jumping here and there checking out one "deal" after another is self-destructive.

You wanted to "try" bum marketing - did you do it? You've mentioned starting a blog for weeks - did you launch a blog?

There are many different methods of IM and many products....quite a few of them work well when you follow through. But none of them work until you settle down, focus on one project and see it through.

Start with the blog you've been planning.....but....don't start a blog to "write about me". Instead find a focus for your blog or a niche to work in.
(note: "make money online" is not a great niche for someone who hasn't made money online - too competitive)

use the search on this forum to learn how to identify a profitable niche and how to choose profitable keywords

Build your blog....then move on to promote it from there. Add other methods/products in as you are ready to work on them.

I agree with Louise. You must break things down into small chucks - it's really the only way I get anything done too! Just do something. Then one thing will lead to the next. And before you know it you will have accomplished something!

Actually, no King, I haven't done anything yet, well at least haven't had the time to do everything all since I am back in college now. But yeah, I've been deal hopping.

As for where I am now, well I don't really know how to describe it. But I have more knowledge about making money online.

And my bigger plan is to have several sources of income coming in rather than one. But I've got to get that first one up and running.

I'm a newbie too, I started looking into this about 2 years ago and I kept going around and around in circles.
I gave it rest and now I have just come back on the scene. The best way is to start a blog and then you will be amazed what you learn from that.
I started a wordpress.com blog. Just try that and see where it leads you.
Just take baby steps, one step at a time.

No, not at all. The Spreadsheet's there so I can break it down into small chunks. To keep me from getting confused lol because I have a ton going on at the moment with school and all.

Oh and the other thread I had started it on the Main forum. Mods must've moved it while I was tidying myself up.

      That's a goal - not a plan.

      A plan is:

      Here is my niche
      Here is my focus
      My target market is....
      I am selling .....
      XX posts per day/week
      XX articles submitted per week
      XX backlinks created per week

Have you identified a niche and purchased a domain? That's the first step - take it and get moving.

Many here work full time, run families and work IM. Simple truth is if you want to do something bad enough you'll find the time to do it.

Why a spreadsheet - to list goals and ideas and purchases? Not useful. It's good to use spreadsheets to keep track of registered domains, of when content is added to your sites, site income, etc. Until you do something you have nothing to spread on a sheet.

You are the only person who can make yourself sit down and do some real work. No one can motivate you - except you.

      I'll suggest 3 things

      1. Watch the movie "the secret". Even if it has some flaws.

      2. Read the Time management e-book by Steve Pavlina. It really helps, and it's free about 10-15 pages I think. about the link? sorry i forgot I just printed it when I got a glimpse of it just search it it will definitely help you in your goals.

      3. Work on the easiest way around! Stick with one ebook! work everything that ebook says and focus. Don't work on the long term success if you are just starting out. FOCUS on getting your first $100 or few bucks online then go on with the long term targets. Or whatever your decision maybe. Starting Internet Marketers lack the courage because they are not seeing any money but once you do......
.... All will come to place....

      Hope this helps,

    Hi,

    I know how it feels.

One of the biggest reasons why we don't take action is because we're playing with the wrong tools. Here's what i mean: many times we want to start making money so bad that we buy anything from anyone that promisses us the magic formula. Now this is a problem because unless you actually know what kind of online or home business you would like to have, you won't be able to take action because most of the techniques they teach will be techniques that you won't be willing to do.

    Here's an example:

Lets say that Joe Releases a new course on cpa networks, you see how much money he's making so you buy his course, the problem is that you're a creative person so what would be cool for you is making money being an expert on something, creating courses and stuff.

So unless you know what you want and how you want to get it, you won't be able to take action.

So here's what you need to do now:

Think about what you really want. What kind of business would you had all the money in the world? Would you have a business where you would do consulting with clients, or would you like to be sort of undercover and have a bunch of people promoting your business for you? Would you like to be recognized as an expert or would you like to just talk about something that you like to do like (cooking or playing piano or playing soccer or whaterver..) and get paid for it?

The more specific you are the best results you'll have. Once you know what you want look for a coach that can help you achieve your goals.

    Hope this helps

ChickenMan I feel your pain. Being a newbie aint easy. You have this information overload and can't seem to focus on anything.
    Do yourself a favour:
    • STOP buying the courses or the next "UNKNOWN SECRET".
    • Use what you have got.
    • Find others on this forum who are successful and PM them directly for guidance. Some warriors are happy to guide you on a weekly basis as long as you take action.
I will "share" one secret with you:
Try to FOCUS - Follow One Course Until U Succeed

Thanks guys for the advice. This is all similar to a situation I had years ago, fresh out of HS(not related to MMO btw). I overcame that eventually, so I know I can overcome this one. I know I have F.O.F. and I need to realize that there's really no "secret" way to making money online nor is there a magic formula involved.

And trust me Mariomvr, you hit the nail on the head on that one.

I think before I go any further, I need to go and unsubscribe from most of the lists I got on since they're part of the distraction.

As for one of my goals, I want to start an accounting and legal blog once I am finished with my degree

I definitely agree with breaking tasks down into smaller chunks. I know for me, big things can seem impossible, but it's amazing what you can actually get done in a small amount of time. I've often thought I don't have enough time to get something done, but really, 15-20 minutes is plenty of time to get one (or even 2) tasks done.

Good luck on your goals and the accounting and legal blog!

*laughing* This was a great thread guys! All of the info here is great, and I'm going to use a couple of the suggestions here to tweak some of the methods I'm using.

The reason I'm laughing is because some of this sounds EXACTLY like a conversation I had with my mentor recently. I started thinking too big, and too far ahead, and was running around getting nowhere fast. She basically grabbed me and said, "Are you SURE you're not just procrastinating?"

While I wasn't doing things to procrastinate, at least not at a conscious level, her asking me that made me think.

Now, every time I'm tempted to open a new browser tab to "check something out for research" I stop and ask myself, "Do I really need this information right this minute?" If the answer is yes, then I obviously do the research. If it is no, I make a note of the thought, then go back to what I was doing. I've become much more productive because of it.

Honestly, and remember, I'm telling you this because it's for your own good, you need to light a fire under your ass. Everyone has to. Do you know how many people have amazing ideas that can make them hundreds of thousands of dollars but they procrastinate and jump from one thing to another. There are some WSO's out there that are worth buying, but you are never going to be successful if you don't find your own way. Do not believe for one minute that someone is going to give you their golden idea or method that's making them millions. Pick something, doesn't matter what (whatever your best Idea is) and stick with it until you start making enough money to live on and invest back in the business on a consistent basis. Then move onto something else. Whenever you find something that can be scaled up, stick with it and put as much money back in it as possible. You're going to have a lot of people that are going to give you like ten different steps to take to succeed or whatever, but in reality there is only ONE word you need to know. DO. Either do it or don't. Just do it, that's the only way you'll ever make a dime.

ChickenMan, My first (positive) thought about your thread here... I think the fact that you're just in college, and you're thinking about doing this because you're concerned about the economy and your future is already pretty good :-) I know I wasn't in that frame of mind when I was in college.

If you take all the advice here that the people mentioned already, and you take action, you'll find yourself well ahead "early" in life.

I am a newcomer to IM too, In the past week or two ive finally had no trouble taking action purely because i've just started working to time. Even without a solid plan, working to time forces you to take good action. I set a timer for 2 hours or so, or however much time I want to spend, and for those 2 hours I do what i've gotta go. No listening to mucis, chatting to friends or anything like that, just doing what i've gotta do. I've found that I make so much progress this way. Because all i will allow myself to do for those 2 hours is work. Even withour a solid plan of what i need to do with those 2 hours, if u just focus solidly for a designated time period you will pretty much force your brain to come up with ideas.

Then, when the 2 hours or so is up...STOP! stop straight away and enjoy the rest of the day. At this point i always feel good that ive taken some action, and often My brain has come up with great ideas and made progress

So take action! Don't buy more products, don't keep posting on this forum, don't do anything else, just take action!

Simply choose one of the methods and start following the steps described in the report.

Taking action can't be all that hard. Simply stop what you are doing and start implementing the method.

This is one of the best questions ever asked. I know what you are experiencing and have been through that position myself. Still do in new things that are non IM non business related stuff.

iI do procrastinate. There's only one way to eliminate it - Accountability. Get yourself an accountability partner.

Make a plan and start doing the work. Let them know if you've finished it or not. That way, you will be able to do stop procrastinating and will start doing the things you need to become successful.

Create a work honor system and follow it.. ie: from 10 am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm daily...

    I will not check email
I will not send tweet or fb share with friends and family
I will not read mashable or facebook or technorati
I will not surf the web looking around and buy or get sold on stuff
I will not be studying stuff, reading guides etc.

For 2 periods of 2 hours per day.. I commit that I will focus on profit-centered actions... ie:

    I will create leads
I will create relationships and connections online
    I will create irresistible offers
I will LEVERAGE "other people's money, other people's time, and other people's talent to create wealth. etc.

Essentially... spend time building the business instead of "working at" the business.

Yes, just do one thing at a time. You will be pleasantly surprised every time you succeed in completing one thing! Such as 'a new domain name'. Its a first step and feels good once you have learned how to do that. More things to come.

Follow some good program on putting your site together, finding keywords etc. and doing some SEO (search engine optimization) - getting your site seen on google.

    Watch some Dexter
    Do some SEO
    Watch some Breaking Bad

Try just getting started. It can be amazing how far you can go once you just get over that initial slump.

Figure out what things make you the most likely to get the work done. Most likely this will involve moving all distractions out of reach, cleaning all unrelated things off your desktop, and removing all links from your bookmarks toolbar.

By moving all of these things away from being easy to use, you will be less likely to get distracted.

Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it’s always your choice

Great questions and great replies everyone! I'd have to agree with everyone who posted a comment! My answer is STATE. State is the psychological and emotional condition you're in at any given moment. If you're constantly in high performance states, you'll engage. If you're constantly in crippling, low performance states, you won't engage. State is induced by language. Start getting attuned to the way you talk to yourself in your head, and start intentionally changing those things to create massive internal drive. If you can put yourself in the condition to massively perform, results come effortlessly!
