I have all the tools, but I need help taking action

Alright, so I have several courses on my belt( a bunch are free and a few are paid) plus about three WSOs that I have and a Build a Blog empire topic, but I can't seem to get the urge to take action.

Everyday I am out going to class, I see cars that I like and it motivates me then. But when I am back in my room on my computer, I lose it. I can't keep focused enough to take action on everything that I have.

I mean every since I've learned more about making money online, my hunger grows and grows.

I've got several good courses, but they're only as good as the words are if I can't take any action on them.

I know a lot of you have been through this so how did you overcome it?

This might sound flippant but it's not.

    Start - right now.

Honestly. I feel like you too sometimes, so I give myself a mental kick up the arse and just start. No matter what you do, follow the steps you've been giving and do something.

      Here you go:

      1) Find your peak time - i.e. when are you at your best?

Use this time for your action. In short, focus your most productive time on what you WANT, not what your normal activities are day-to-day.

This unleashes your most passionate time and energy where you WANT it to go, and can zoom you ahead.

      2) Keep records or a journal, nothing fancy, of your action steps. You want to quickly:

      - focus on actions that are positive and move you ahead
      - get rid of / (or) revise those actions that do nothing for you, or that move you backwards
      - seek help as needed, but specific, targeted help. Example: no need to learn all about electricity to turn on a light. Learn which switch to flip.

      To your success!

I have two suggestions for you (and don't take a lot of time on either one)

      1. Write down your goals! Don't just set them in your head, write them out each day. Determine how much time you will allot to working on your business each day, then write out what you will do in that time for the next seven days.

      Day 1
Set up website, hosting, and CMS

      Day 2
      Create content for site - 5-6 articles/posts

      Day 3
      Work on backlinks and SEO

You get the idea. At first, start off with 1 or 2 items you absolutely know you can complete in the allotted time frame. If you overwhelm the To Do list you will quickly get discouraged, so start slow and as you gain momentum and see how long it takes to complete certain tasks, you can ramp it up a bit and push yourself harder. KEEP YOUR GOALS VISIBLE! Don't close the notebook or bury the sheet. Hold yourself accountable. You will be surprised at how much you will have done at the end of those seven days.

      2. I created a board (a small cork board) where I keep pictures of items I am seeking to obtain and what is important to me. Since you had said you get juiced up when you see nice cars, etc, put them on the board so you can see them in your room as you work. If you see a nice house you want or a great watch, put that up too...whatever will get you moving and keep your eye on the prize. It is a great motivator!

The most important thing is what Ruth mentioned...START! Don't post about starting, don't contemplate it...just get moving!

Best to you in all you do! I know you will find much success!

Thank you all for the advice. My peak times are usually Wednesday and Friday and sometimes the weekends depending on my work schedule.

I've already begun keeping myself a journal of some sorts in a Open Office document. Not the best, but it's a start.

And I think I'll change my screensaver to something that'll keep me from getting distracted

    Chickenman,

It sounds like you have the motivation, to take action, but get distracted once you do.

The first thing to do is unsubscribe from the lists that don't provide any value.
Take stock of what you have and get it into order.
Set small realistic goals as DJ suggested
If you get stuck have a resource you can turn to to find a solution.
Become bloody minded to achieve whatever it takes.

I overcame my thumb twiddling after carrying out the above, it happens to us all because we have too much information from outside rather than thinking from within.

Thanks John, I've started unsubscribing from lists since they do distract.

And then I need to prioritize myself since I have a ton of ebooks and courses(all free except a few)

    Thanks all for the advice.

I've been taking action and earning some money, but for the last 2 days I've done nothing but research something new. But now I MUST stop. One phrase I read a while back said to ask yourself, "Is this an opportunity? Or a distraction?" I am going to remind myself that

"one man's opportunity is another's distraction"

Choose a direction and stick with it. As I said, I've been very distracted for the last 48 hours reading about what could be a great opportunity. I said 'could be'.... I know it is not MY great opportunity. I have another great opportunity, the website, the product that I've already put together.

I need to stay the course. You need to start the course. So pick something by the end of today, if you haven't already. In fact, I want you to post at the end of today that you have chosen a project/website/etc and are working on it!

You don't have to tell us what it is, but you should write down and begin working on something specific NOW!

      Chickenman,

It's easy to get stuck in a place, not taking action ~ but it's usually just your own thoughts about yourself that are holding you back... fear of failure or not being good enough can buzz in our head and prevent us from doing anything. Is what you're thinking supportive of your brilliance or not? If not... then you've got to clear that up or you'll create the same challenge over and over.

In addition to that remind yourself this is all one big crazy dream, you can make it up as you go along, fear is just an illusion, and you literally can't get it wrong. Life is an experiment

      warmest,

      Hi AnneE.

Something to remember is that when you're starting out and/or dealing with limiting beliefs it's actually normal to stop at some point. Often people think they have to do absolutely everything in record speed, however, it doesn't usually happen that way.

Actually, if you do just 3 things a day to build your business, that could be considered a good achievement and you can improve from there.

Like Will Smith said. "Lay one brick at a time, and soon, you'll have a house."

I felt the same way. I had these dreams and ideas but noooo idea how to carry them out.
I think it helps to set small, realistic goals. Things you know you can accomplish. When you see things start getting done, it's very very encouraging.
    Good luck ChickenMan!

I am a tad concerned about someone's motivation coming from cars.
They depreciate, loose women are impressed by them, and insurance companies and cops love them. Not my bag.
However... I do have advice about motivation in the moment:
Read quotes by Winston Churchill, Mark Twain, George Carlin and Dr. Wayne Dyer.
Put a smile behind those thoughts that will motivate your day!
