How To Skyrocket Your Productivity

Hey guys!

This is really for anyone here who has or is struggling with managing their time and trying to become more productive in their businesses or even everyday life.

You see, a lot of folks feel that improving their time management and productivity is just so hard. But, I would like for you to realize that it does not have to be so hard or complex and in fact, can be accomplished quite easily in a very short period of time.
The pain and frustration -
-that you are experiencing, right now, from being in this rut can be solved, but will take some effort.

These tips may seem simple and obvious, but after several years online I have come to learn that the best techniques are surprisingly, the simplest and most obvious ones.

So here are 3 simple, yet powerful ways to improve your time management and productivity:

1.) Write down your TWO Highest Value Tasks

The reason why is because writing down your 2 highest value tasks will automatically eliminate all the other lesser value tasks and force you to focus on completing just those two tasks.

Your two highest value tasks are most often what bring in the most money for you or make you the happiest or simply the tasks that greatly improve your current situation.

By actually writing down your 2 most important tasks you're brain will clearly understand its level of significance, which will then result in you taking action and improve your time management.

2.) Focus on One Thing at a time

You want to focus on one thing at a time because the human mind is most powerful when focused on one main objective.

In fact, I'm sure you would agree with this statement because if you look at times when you were just moving from one thing to the next with your mind racing in all different directions you felt overwhelmed and realized you were not being productive at
all.
..

At first, you may have thought by multitasking you were being super productive, but looking at your results you learned that was not the case.

This realization is one that His Holiness the Dalai Lama highly supports as he once stated, "A scattered mind does not have much power.
When channelized, no matter what the object of observation is, the mind is very powerful."

3.) Avoid Burnout and the Work-A-Holic Mentality

You may feel that putting in over time with the boss or being dedicated and committed to your business will make you become productive but the fact still is true that when you work for too long or too hard, all you really doing is killing yourself making you very "unproductive".

The solution is to work in blocks of time and get to work on your "highest value" task and work for a solid hour to 90 minutes (whichever one you feel most productive with), take a short ten minute break and then work for another hour to 90 minutes.

Working in these 60 to 90 minute blocks will allow you to stay focused with a high level of intensity for a relatively short amount of time, which boosts your performance and output. And then taking short breaks in between will allow you to recharge your batteries and return back to your work with a fresh and recharged mind.

You need to rejuvenate your mind and body to stay at the top of your game and there's nothing like coming back into a challenging and frustrating situation or problem with a fresh pair of rested eyes and recharged mind.

I hope this may help a few here - since I too struggled mightily trying to effectively manage my time and become productive when I first began online. It took me MONTHS (literally) to finally understand!!!

But that was because I would often fall for those enticing, yet stupid make money online videos that we've all watched at one time or another.
..But not anymore!

Kindest,

Sonam Lama

Your very welcome scannura. I totally agree with you, because I often realize that when I sit for a long period of time, my back tends to start aching and so by standing up I feel refreshed and get this bizarre surge of energy.

It's wicked cool and such a great productivity booster indeed.

      Glad to have helped.

I'm sure that everybody has heard of Stephen Covey and the 7 Habits series...its an amazing approach to life in general...how wonderful life becomes when we attack the "big rocks" first and let the smaller rocks and sand fill in the empty spaces!!

Excellent and concise explanation for productivity. Thank you.
When determining your "two highest value tasks," my advice is to step outside yourself and trust the System you're using. That will keep the "Important" (highest value) from being distracted or dislodged by the "Urgent."

Very well written. Like I said in another post...

Writing down as many tiny (and most important) details
of what you want to do, before you get started on it,
REALLY helps you to achieve it.

I can't remember where I heard it from, but someone
once said that acting from a list helps to make you
keep going and keeps you from procrastinating.

Your very welcome. Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad my tips were able to help you improve your productivity.

I must say, the advice you offered above is just so powerful yet so simple. We all MUST (not should) implement your advice in our businesses and every day lives.

In terms of business, most people often tend to allow themselves to get distracted from the next "shiny object" (which is often a free video explaining how to make thousands of dollars at the push of a button).

This sort of act, which I refer to as an "opportunity seeker" is the single most thing (I believe) that stops people from having any sort of success in their online businesses.

Man!...if we all just focused on and trusted our "systems", imagine how much more happy and successful we would be?

Thanks for reminding us all to trust our "system."

My fellow warriors, PLEASE take heed of this advice and JUST DO IT!

      Kindest,

      Sonam

That was a well written set of good advice you gave us there!
Prioritizing is definitely a boost to productivity.
To avoid the work a holic mentality i usually stop for a 30 min break every time I feel like I'm losing concentration.
I usually spend this time playing with my pets or having a snack, something that is enjoyable so it's like a little reward for all the work I've been doing all day.

Focusing one task at a time seems to be an amazing and productive mindset. As much as people value multitaskers in this modern world, it is the people that can have an immense concentration on one task at a time that seem to really get things done and don't leave a whole bunch of loose ends.

One of my favorite things to remind myself is to "don't work crazy hours without working smart first."

I tackled this subject in my last blog post, so I feel compelled to share my perspective:

Efficiency and Productivity Series Part 2

Would love some feedback on my perspective - I performed a reframing exercise in the post about finding enough time in life to do what you love.

          Thanks for the post sonamlama

Futhark, your blogpost was spot on I think.
The only thing I would change is when creating your zone, include something that inspires you to do whatever it is that you are doing. Something that reminds you of focus but is also relaxing and enoyable so you aren't in a room that is designed for a robot.
Personally, I keep my chinchilla in my work room. The little bit of activity from his cage breaks up the stillness in the room and he's not too loud and distracting to take me away from my work.

Thanks schrodi, I was particularly happy with that post because I feel like I was able to put something I've known for so long subconsciously into words and actually show people how to find time to pursue our goals in the hustle and bustle of the modern day world.

Yes, the "zone" can be helped with things like surroundings, but they are not completely necessary. I believe that people who are highly experienced in the zone, like meditation, can go into the zone no matter what the surroundings. Now, it is an entirely different story if you actually want to draw some inspiration from your surroundings when you are in the zone - chinchilla

I would say that optimal comfortable surroundings combined with entering the zone would be your most productive, creative mindset, but may stagnate in time from lack of outside influence and motivators. Just a thought. Thanks for the comment.

#3 is my main challenge right now. I try to limit my time working, but always go past what I initially promise myself. I'm trying to change the locations of where I work and this helps big time - makes me more conscious of my surroundings and easily focus on my tasks at hand.

Also I try to add more short breaks by stretching or put in a quick mini meditation in between.

And lastly, focus on significance on what I'm working on, not quantity. Getting #1 done that will increase my profitability factor, not all over the place goals that leads to no where.

        Good post - thanks!

      Good post!

Another thing I started doing a while back was creating deadlines for everything I do. This forces me to only concentrate on the main points of any task. I start every day not with a "to do list" but with a "must do list." I've found my productivity has gone through the roof.

As we move towards the knowledge-based economy, the world is becoming a game where it's the survival of fittest. You either keep up. Or get left behind. Relax and give your total focus and energy to the one item you're working on.

This is living in the NOW.

Living in the now will make you more productive. It will also help you have a happier workday.
