Secret to Success...revealed

This isn't a long post but don't mistake its length for its lack of importance. These few words have been super powerful in my life and I'm hoping they will help others as well. Live life by...

1. Staying True To Yourself
2. Work Harder than Everybody Else

If you stay true to yourself and your beliefs, you will be successful personally in your life. Work harder than everybody else and you will be successful professionally in your business.

Simple but profoundly powerful.

To everybody's success and prosperity in your personal and professional lives!

~Ken

    You are right Ken.

The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.

So, if you want to be better than your peers or colleagues in the same field or line of business, do that extra thing that they refused to do because it appears difficult.

    Hi Ken,

    I like your formula.

I would tweak the second line a little and say work smarter than everybody else. Hard work can bring success and smart work can brings fortunes. Of course that's based on each person's definition of hard work, as I put serious effort into my craft but as much effort into my mental science.

    Thanks for sharing.

Agreed, you will need to focus on striking that balance, but my definition of hard work already encapsulates the concept of "smart work". Working hard to me is putting in more effort into your action and into your thinking. I also think that the harder you work, the smarter you will tend to work.

      Good share!

Thanks for sharing, Ken. The second point you mention is absolutely crucial for success, there are too many people out there with a "lottery mentality" that want to get rich from internet marketing, but aren't willing to word hard OR intelligently for it. These are the people that fall for the slick sales pages that have guys driving Ferraris and Lamborghinis and claim to work a mere 20 minutes a day, lounging by the pool.

Get real, people - this is never going to happen, at least not in the beginning. If you're not willing or able to work harder and smarter than your average Joe, then you have little chance at really succeeding in IM.

    Hi Ken,

Sounds like great advice. I especially like #1 about being true to yourself. It's surprising how when you're not, it never seems to work out as well. So that's important and usually overlooked.

    Thanks,

    Lisa

    Ken:

I would add one other thing - Be enthusiastic about what you are doing! Without enthusiasm, you loose traction and the hard work becomes a trudge - I could tell many tales of loosing sight of my goal in mountain climbing and then loosing enthusiasm and dragging my sorry keyster to the peak!

    Just my two cents!

In most biographies of great leaders, both corporate and otherwise, it's extremely rare to find they haven't gone through an extended period of lackluster results at some point in their lives...that they overcame simply through persistence and hard work.

Whenever I have doubt I just go back to work.

Thanks everyone. As she pointed out in the quote above. The "hard and smart" work may not be bringing the goods for a while. In fact, one may/will have to deal with failure on the path to success. That is where faith and persistence comes in...that is one of the lessons life is teaching me now.

If we love, what we are doing, and it has the potential to add value to the lives of many,if we persist, success will come. It's tough,but...it's incredibly worthwhile and heartwarming, when things eventually turn around.

      I wish you all success.

Absolutely true! As long as you keep plugging along and continually working hard and staying true to yourself, your will inevitably overcome these periods. The greatest ideas come from the lowest of times.

A true entepreneur uses a period of lackluster results as motivation, not an excuse

There's really no such thing as instant success, despite what the glamorous marketing material you see may seem to portray. Behind every "overnight" success is tons of hard work and lots of initial failures, but of course those facts are conveniently obscured because no one wants to hear about it!

I agree with clwest about enthusiasm. Ideally, that comes naturally out of Secret #1, "Be true to yourself."
It all starts with Integrity. Your own Oneness, through to the core, is the source of everything that flows from you.

To add on your Success Secret(s) let me share with you this quote by Naploean Hill

By staying true to yourself, you ensure that you only get involved in projects and ventures that you're passionate about and can identify with. Passion and the resulting sense of purpose is probably one of the most important factors in becoming a success in your chosen area.
