A Super Way To Become Happy

Spread Joy. Move the attention from the source of your unhappiness to helping others. Giving freely precedes happiness because it changes the focus from yourself to how you can help others.

What do you think?

I agree Geno. That which you give freely, you receive multiplied. Action/Reaction with some juice!

This is the heart of why many self help type programs start with volunteering, charity, philanthropy etc. It may sound selfish but charity is one of the most self-rewarding experiences ever.

And you know what...if you are volunteering, helping, pursuing philanthropic deeds for the pure purpose of selfish gain, I am NOT opposed to that. A lot of people do charity primarily because it helps themselves out and although it's not optimal, I am fine with it. I wish more people received selfish pleasures that way.

    But I digress...

Giving tends to put you in a better emotional state which makes everything seem to just work out for you.

Thanks for reminding me of this. In particular I have a couple friends who talk about a lack of satisfaction in their lives and I will include this in my suggestions. It's one of those facts that most of us know, but it's easy to forget about it in our daily rush.

I think its only when you have truly suffered and been nearly destroyed that any of this pilanthropy means anything untill then it is theory and a nicety

Agreed. Went on a mission trip to Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico for a week. There was many people in need. I was happy to help although I was only teaching Tae Kwon Do. They loved it and i think it gave them a sense of accomplishment. I felt like it was an opportunity for them to learn a skill that they never would have been opportuned to learn. I was a different person from that trip. Very enlightening experience.

I totally agree spread joy and happiness, give freely and expect nothing back in return. I am so blessed by encouraging someone i meet online thats having a tough day or discourage about something. To hear them say it bless them is all worth more than anything else.
