Get High While Working

I am talking about that high, like the runner's high a long distance runner gets from running so long and doing something good for their body, that high you get when you accomplish something.

I just did some work and got kind of an immense feeling of satisfaction from doing some work. No, not from making money, just from getting something done that I needed to get done. It feels good to actually do something, doesn't it?

My point is, especially for newbies, there is an extremely easy trap to fall in to, that being information overload. There's so much information out there these days! Let's face it, IMers marketing in the IM niche are essentially information marketers. Well, I don't know if we have to face anything, guess it's pretty obvious.

But treat it like a job. Don't dread it, but just say, "I got to get this done. Got to take these steps on this new method or campaign I'm trying." Follow it to completion. Don't get distracted by this forum or some shiny new WSO, just get it done. Get done what you promised yourself you would.

The more productive you are, the better you will feel. Perhaps you will feel that high I'm feeling now. I don't get it every time I complete some tasks that albeit are quite simple, it's just the feeling of, Yeah, I'm doing it, I'm on my way, I'm getting there.

Fail or succeed with this campaign, at least I know I did it how I promised myself I would. And that's the key. Don't sell yourself short. You're working for yourself, basically, so why half-ass it?

I truly appreciate this type of post, I almost exclusively look for this now, as I must keep reinforcing the" Just Do It" in my mind. I don't know how many times I've started down a path and have hit some sort of stumbling block. Then my belief system goes astray and it slows my actions to crawl. I need this mental block to go away. That's why your post and others like are seriously appreciated. Keep it coming.. I am soo.. in therapy here.

Wanted to give you a thanks but not enough posts.

How many posts do I need, before I am able to do anything?

No problem guys, just remember to get out there and do something!

Spend time on this forum but only to get the education you need and then close the window and go do some work.

    You'll feel better for it.

    Good advice.

Those who stay on the forum or research all day without doing anything else have book smarts. Those who acquire a minimal amount of knowledge and move into action immediately have street smarts.

Guess who makes the fortune? This is why the majority of billionaires don't have a college degree.

I couldn't agree more. I find that when I spend too much time in the forums early in the day and don't do any real IM work, I feel distracted and ultimately frustrated. I'm also happiest and most satisfied when I'm taking action on some aspect of IM instead of reading or learning about it.

As one gets more involved in IM, one should spend far more time implementing than learning something. IM is a field where you actually need to take action in order to truly learn how to do it, and it is not unlike learning how to ride a bicycle or to swim - without actually doing that activity, you cannot hope to really learn all there is to know about it.

I totally agree with you. No matter the obstacles and distractions, just get the work done and on time. Procrastination leads to pitfalls.

I totally know what you mean by getting "high" from accomplishing something. I feel the excitement almost on daily basis as I reach towards the end of my to do list crossing each and everything item out. And sometimes "low" as well when day doesn't go as planned.
