I am pretty new to IM, and we all talk about giving value and over delivering. I do this part time I have a good job and earn a good living.
Has anyone ever really thought about instead of how I can get a bigger list or who I can JV with, or where I can promote MYSELF more, maybe I can pluck that guy from Bangladesh or Kenya from my autoresponder and teach him how to make some cash?
Just because you can. Instead of what we are programmed to do and think because we can give value because we have knowledge and therefore you have to pay??

There are an infinite number of us that do this, have done this, and will continue to do this.

You dont hear about it because this isnt something you come onto a forum to preach about or do in order to receive a round of applause.

Im concered by your apparent presumption that no one in the IM world does this, or gives back.

Delve a little deeper, read a bit more, and then you might realize just how much is done within this community.

I agree. I also do it myself... More on other forums than here because I don't post too often here...

But there are plenty of members here that I've learned a lot from Steve Wangaman (don't know if I spelled the last name right) has PLENTY of post here...

Also in the copywriting forum here there are TONS of great post with people giving back PLENTY of information for FREE.

For every IM who sells re-hashed rubbish and spams your email, there's someone who works with morals and a desire to help others in the way they were helped themselves. It really does happen and it's certainly true that this forum contains some amazingly generous people

Well, the ratio is probably closer to 10:1 than 1:1 but its definitely true that many IMers DO give back after they start seeing some success.

I'm sure this is all true, i'm really sorry I buried a friend today who died at the age of 44 and all his eulogies were about how he helped people, the IM world can be harsh and sometimes we have to look inward.
Anyway I will hopefully continue to learn and share.
I was told this was a harsh forum and people would be quick to put you down.

      My condolences.

The world is harsh, not just the IM world. Ive worked and been around far more cut-throat industries than this.

If you were told that this was a harsh forum, where people would be quick to put you down.....then you've been mislead. Wrong forum.

People here will welcome you with open arms, offer advice, and even praise you....even to a fault sometimes.

I do this all the time. I offer free personal tutoring to members of my list that have shown loyalty, whether by replying to my email blasts, purchasing products, or merely commenting on my blog posts. I love to help people, especially when they least expect it.

Alright, count me in on your list. And I'm loyal, take note.

And lastly, I'm not expecting anything.

The easiest way to change someone's life is to offer a genuine smile and a kind word. I've literally seen it save a person's life. Don't wait until you're "successful" to practice it. Start today. :-)

I've tried to save a bunch of girls' lives at bars with that tactic. They just look at me like I am creepy. And sometimes I got slapped, depending upon how much changing of their life I was attempting.

You can both "sell" to people AND help them and improve their quality of life!

It's all about delivering far more value to them than the price they are paying you.

A lot of people do give back, in ways other than online. Sometalk about what they do with friends, family members, someone they meet up with in the grocery checkout line. Also, a lot of people that do help others don't brag about it or want recognition for it. Giving back doesn't mean one has to stand in front of a crowd and say, hey look what I did or what I am doing. Helping others isn't about getting recognized, it's about helping.
