Position Yourself as an Expert

We used to think, "unless you have a degree, and academics to back up your knowledge, you're not an expert!" Thank God that's dying, and people are starting to realize what Henry Ford and Napoleon Hill talked about years ago: Obtain specialized knowledge.

The truth is, from my model of the world, I think everyone is an expert, but not everyone gives themselves enough credit in this area. If you become a disciplined hunter of knowledge and patterns of genius, you can literally learn anything, from anyone. Me for example, I went out and started studying books about brain science and within a month of reading two books, I started writing on the internet about what I was learning. Not too many people can talk about the brain and how using it in a high performance way can result in great outcomes in life. So, in that area, especially because I apply what I read, and create workable executable strategies, I'm considered an expert.

All of you are exactly that, experts. Just reading some of your posts, I see experts in everyone here! Now, in the new world, in 2010 moving into 2011, experts just seek specialized knowledge, apply it in the world, learn massively and position themselves as experts. This is part of what I call "The New Smart Person." Thanks for reading!

So wonderfully true... Experts are truly just anyone with intensely specialized knowledge... It's nice to know there are others out there who think like I do.. Expertise is just a matter of experience, exposure and retention... First hand experience has taught me way more than conventional academics ever will...

Another insightful post Ryan You started writing on your niche immediately. That's why you're so well-positioned now. It's the massive action that Tony Robbins speaks about.

If you've accumulated a fair amount of knowledge and become well-versed enough to share it with others, you are becoming a real expert. Few view themselves as authorities but most are; they don't realize it yet.

You must SEE yourself as an expert before you can BE an expert. Put your smarts out there guys. Read, acquire knowledge and go about creating your own content immediately.

Stephen S. Covey, in the 7Habits of Highly Effective People, says that once you learn something you should begin teaching it right away, within 24 hours.

I found this to be true within this month alone. I challenged myself to begin making posts every single day and writing at least one full page article every single day. I’ve been focusing on success and covering Napoleon Hill’s book “Think and Grow Rich”.

As I’ve been writing I’ve found out that what is once hard becomes easy, what was once consider difficult becomes possible, where there was once writer’s block words now flow.

By taking what we learn and teach it our brains are forced to make sense of it. How do we tell others about what we learned?

Also by teaching we begin to see connections in other things, make new acquaintances that later become friends and colleagues.

I think it's great getting other's points of view. Sometimes is fills in the missing piece or helps you rethink something that just didn't sit just right.
