What Makes You HUNGRY?

Profile picture of the author ryanbiddulph by
I recall one of Les Brown's videos where he talks about how HUNGRY (in long, drawn out voice) you must be to become successful.

When your desire to succeed is stronger than your fear of failure you move forward. When it isn't, you give in to fear and quit.

I'm hungry because I know why I'm here: to prosper all with the talents the Good Lord gave me.

My definite major purpose in life is more important to me than breathing. I don't look forward to the New Year, or next Tuesday for that matter because everything happens in the Now and the person I am growing into always grows in the Now. That's why I don't set time tables for my goals; no need in tying the hands of the universe.

I'm hungry now and will remain hungry as long as I'm in here. I never wait to become hungry or wait for goals. I set 'em in the moment and visualize myself in possession of the goals in the moment. Which makes me even more *hungry.*

What makes you HUNGRY?

Ok, you asked what makes me “hungry”. The desire for Ultimate Freedom, knowing that I and ONLY I control my life. Not worrying about a boss, or working at a job I cannot stand.

The ability to give my wife and family everything they need and want and not have to worry about the future. To have the time to exercise and learn and enjoy everything I want to.

But makes me and keeps me hungry is the desire for unlimited FREEDOM.

What makes me hungry? A lot! I have hunger for month long vacations all over the world. Without much, I cannot do that. I am hungry for beache houses and rest houses in my most favorite places. I would like to one day be able to wake up not worrying about anything. I am hungry for hectares of vegetable plantation. I wish one day I wake up in a land of vegetables.. fresh air and quuiet place. These are the things tha make me hungry, really.

I hunger to challenge the boundaries of what I'm capable of. I hunger to see just how far I can push myself and just how much I can do.

Throughout history, vanity and greed has proved to be among the best motivators. I'm sure you will succeed.

    Irony aside...

I think short term rewards (to feed the ego) combined with long term visions creates a life full of purpose. I want to achieve great things, but I want to do it in style.

People hunger for different things. It's fun to have nice stuff. It's fun to help people. Everybody has different drivers.

I AGREE 100%. People that call it greed but I call it wanting something better. So what if I work hard and EARN it, what business is it of anyone else? I work hard to have the thing I want. If other people want to sit around and hope to win the lottery, that they never play, that is THEIR problem.

LD go for it and the MORE you can EARN for YOURSELF the better! Granted I believe in giving and I can tell you do too or else you wouldnÂ’t be here contributing the way you do.

I saw the greed reference L.D. but figured why not let you handle it, since we think pretty similarly

One man's greed is another man's normal way of living.

    Couldn't agree with you more.

It's not really the "money" for me, it's all the perks that it brings along.

    Hey Ryan,

    Thanks for the awesome thread!

What makes me hungry is the desire to better my life. I know that if I work at anything there isn't nothing that I can't accomplish. I might not get there as fast as I hoped or I might make mistakes along the way, but i don't quit. My hunger is too strong to let me give up, if I'm not feeling it then I take a break or do something else productive.

I want to be rich by the age of 22. I know most people say that is and unrealistic goal, but I believe anything is possible. It's not like it hasn't been done before it's just very unlikely. I'm going to do everything I can to reach my goal of becoming rich before the age of 22. If I don't reach it hey at least I'll be better off than I am now.

    Thanks again!

    God bless,

We all have the desire and thirst for things, which comes to us all the time! According to Heather Hicks, if we can think and imagine the desire, then we can surely have it! Just have to believe and put our faith in it! Its very natural to desire and want things.

You can subscribe to a daily quotation which is really uplifting!

Having a lot by itself doesn't equal greed.
First of all, calling a post "idiotic" is more than just rude, it's insulting.

Second, I clearly stated I used irony.

Third, greed does not mean that you get something you want only by hurting or using others.

Greed is an excessive desire to possess wealth or goods with the intention to keep it for yourself; Greed (Latin, avaritia), also known as avarice or covetousness, is, like lust and gluttony, a sin of excess. Greed is inappropriate expectation. However, greed is applied to a very excessive or rapacious desire and pursuit of wealth, status, and power. - Wikipedia

Call it a mindset, a powerful one. And as anything that is powerful, it is what you do with it that matters.

What makes me hungry is the desire to quit the house that has always had every reason that broke my heart. What makes me really hungry is the urge to get an apartment to live in it with the man I love and chose and a monthly sum to make us lead a peaceful life. I would not deny that what makes me hungry also is wanting that electric piano so bad

    Great Post Ryan

I have seen Les Brown video but never really understood what he meant by you got to be hungry !!! I heard but it never meant anything to me

What makes you hungry is an excellent question to ask except i am not sure i am hungry . Honestly don't think i am really that hungry

I am comfortable . I am doing well . All my needs are met . I am doing the things i want .Where I am now is not all i have got to give but i am kind of ok with where i am right now

I guess i have a problem . If i am not that hungry i won't take the steps necessary

If i were to be hungry , it will be to show others who doubted me that they were wrong (I have done so already), it will be to contribute to family and provide for my coming kids , challenge myself to be reach my potential and help others live the life of their dreams

    Thanks for the delicious post
