Want Greatness? Make The Right Choices!

Are people born and destined for greatness? Does it take a Masters Degree or a High IQ to become successful or a great leader? Consider this:
1) More than 50 percent of all CEO's of Fortune 500 companies had C or C- averages in college.
2) 65 percent of all US Senators come from the bottom half of their school classes.
3) 65 percent of U.S. presidents were in the lower half club in their school.
4) More than 50 percent of millionaire entrepreneurs never finished college.
It's obvious, a college degree or incredible intelligence isn't everything.
The truth of the matter is that everyone is capable of doing something better than the next ten thousand people. It doesn't matter how you feel about yourself, or whether you previously have achieved success. Everyone has talent and everyone can develop talent.
What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.
Life is a matter of choices and every choice you make makes you, and one of the most important choices you'll make is "who will you become."
It's been said that the key choices you make-apart from the natural talent you already have-will set you apart from others who just have talent alone.
Life isn't about holding and playing a good hand as you would in a card games. What you start with isn't up to you. Life is playing the hand you have been dealt with and that is determined by choices.
I love the passage in a Dr. Suess book I was reading to my son not to long ago which bore so much truth: "You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself any direction you choose."

The quote in the end was so simple and so powerful....why do we always forget the most basic lessons of life?

If you want greatness don't do what the mediocre do. Sadly most of the people who are in our social circle are just that, mediocre.

Most people fail in life because they have more self-doubt than self-determination.

The "less educated, less intelligent" may succeed more because they don't think about stuff as much. They just do it.

Only you can decide when you had enough and it’s time to take control of your life. Sometimes you have to hit bottom, or get backed into a corner, or had it with a dead-end job before you can take control.

Sometimes it takes someone close to you that you want to show them that you are better then they think and get that, “I’m going to show you” attitude.

This is so true. Unfortunately, in many cases we do not have the gumption and guts to take massive action until and unless our backs are against the wall, and we have absolutely no alternatives left.

That's the exact thing I'm training my team not to do....It's so easy in IM to have times of having our backs against the wall and for some, it's very easy for them to give up and quit, thus making a very bad choice.

    Hey,

Thanks for taking the time to share this with the community!

I totally agree with you && this was and extremely motivational thread. You made a lot of points and every single one was right on point. I fully understand where your coming from because I believe you have to work hard for anything you want in life. You can't just give it 80% you have to give it nothing less than 100%.

Any successful person has had to work hard to get to where they are now. Some made it faster than others, but they all had to put in their time & hard work. Persistance took over and now they are the big people on campus. See, you have to give your skills time to develop for the better and there's no telling how great you can become!

    Just my 2 cents.

    Thanks again!

    God bless,

You're welcome and you're right, some individuals are just blessed with more natural talent than others, but we nevertheless, we still are all equal in value.
