Creating a New Product the Mind-Brain Link

What is creativity and where does it come from? I’ve been reading a few posts lately that have debated if creativity is inherited or developed. If is inherited there where did it come from in the first place? Was the original person just born with that capability or did they develop it?

Whether you believe in creation or evolution, man originated with just a single couple at some period in the far distant past either way. Therefore we all have inherited it from the original source or it’s a learned component.

Personally I believe it is a learned skilled like anything else. What I believe the difference is resulted from a person’s upbringing. If as a child you are scolded for day dreaming and told it’s a bad thing to do then you will try to hide it and bury it and not develop it. If, on the other hand, you are taught it is a good thing and to embrace it you will develop it and nurture it.

So where does creativity come from and how is it developed? The answer to this question I believe lies in the mind and how it communicates with you, the world and the universe at large.

There are many debates over the source of the mind and whether it lies in the brain or outside of the brain. Is the brain the mind of just the physical mechanism that allows the mind to interact with the physical world?

Science has shown with quantum physics that the world is more than just the physical world we see every day. The most popular example is the results observed when experimenting with light. Depending on what outcome you are looking for when you conduct the experiment you will either see light as a particle or a wave.

Through the experiments in quantum physics it has been shown that the physical world is influenced by those observing it, the question now is it the mind or brain that causes the influence?

Another fact that has been proven is that the body is made up of billions of cells which communicate with each other, with the entire body and the brain. It is also know that the body has electrical impulses flowing through it and that communications from the brain reach the rest of the body by this method.

From what I have read I believe the mind is our true self and uses the brain to communicate with the body. The mind also operates on many levels, the conscious level that is the method in which we communicate with each other, the subconscious which is the level that controls the body’s functions on an automatic mode (heart beating, breathing and the upkeep of the physical body), and the superconscious level the level that communicates with each individual’s subconscious, the universal consciousness.

From the superconsciousness is where I believe all creativity lies and the ability to tap into this level of consciousness is what determines whether a person is considered creative or not. This level is not accessed directly by the conscious mind but by the subconscious and passed on to the conscious by hunches, dreams and intuitions.

What determines the level of creativity is how open you are to these hunches, dreams and intuitions. If you tend to live in what people call the “real world” you’ll brush them off and never act on them, but if have been encouraged to embrace these you will excel in what is termed creativity.

When seeking to develop something new you need to be open to hunches, dreams and intuitions. Look at what is there and see how they can be improved, expanded, combined, or used in a totally new and completely different way.

Creativity is nothing more than letting your mind free and accepting the “unacceptable”.

In many cases a “new” product is not really new but a repackaged older product altered and improved.

Great post! I believe it is a learned skill as well.

My dad = died at 45, not a creative guy.

My mom, still alive thankfully, not a creative woman (bless her soul lol!)

Everyone else in my family, no creativity.

Me = three years ago I got my creativity back.

Creativity is a natural function of the human brain. You did it when you were 5. The society we live in now conditions people to kill that stuff off. Fear stops people from engaging in creative projects and if you have mental programs that stop you from creating things, you won't create things.

When your brain learns to be creative again, creativity becomes easy. It's inherent in that unless you have a physiological problem, we all have the same nervous system.. and it's learned because you can cultivate it further.

Anything learned, applied and reinforced literally changes the structure and function of the human brain.

THE REASON PEOPLE THINK CREATIVITY IS SOME "GENE." = We haven't known about the brain for years. It wasn't until recently that we discovered what the brain was really about, how changeable it really is and how incredibly ornate (ridiculously complex) it really is. Plasticity (the property of the brain that changes the structure and function of the communication of neurons) is probably the main route by which creativity happens.

FACT = The frontal lobes of your brain play a major role in creativity because they allow you to take information past what you were taught to believe, into something new. This takes conscious practice if you have bad mental programming.

FACT = AHA moments surface with a burst of activity in the right hemisphere.

FACT = Most people's unconscious minds are shut down by what 99% of people do without knowing it: Extinguish emotions, thoughts and ideas because it's uncomfortable to deal with or listen to them, or the thought of bringing an idea into implementation scares some people.

The old paradigm is over. It has everything to do with the one thing that most people think is some piece of mass in their heads and know nothing about: YOUR BRAIN. Train it, learn it, use it more, learn high performance states, start meditating, learn consistently and begin to alter mental processes to clear conflicts and get rid of bad programming.

Great post Scort! Thanks for reading everyone!

Scort and Ryan, super insight here.

I like the mention of superconsciousness.

Remember who you are guys! Unlimited awareness. Even when you aren't feeling this to be true simply delve into Ryan's insights on the brain. Awe-inspiring piece of machinery, the brain is.

I remember Hill's line in Think and Grow Rich. He mentioned that the creator would not have endowed us with such a wonderful gift as the brain to simply perform basic survival and maintenance functions.

Tap into the unlimited being that is you.

You both bring up some great comments here.

Personally I believe the brain can do much more than people give it credit for or are willing to accept. I read someplace, and I’m not sure where anymore, but that a person had multiple personalities and that when they changed to one of the personalities their eye color would change as well! Can you imagine what the brain is capable of if it can change your eye color in mere moment of time?

There was another person that suffered from multiple personalities, a boy I believe, and when he changed to one of the personalities he was no longer allergic to orange juice, in his normal personality he was allergic to it.

There are other cases I’ve read about too that has me firmly believing that all ailments, all sicknesses, can be cured by the brain, IF we knew how to use it.

Ryan, like you this stuff fascinates me and I read whatever I can get my hands on, and RB I totally agree with a lot that you post here.

Amazing stuff guys and like always you spark the thought process!

I believe that creativity is something that most people who have it are born with. I usually because there seems to be a few exceptions to every rule. We are all bent towards doing certain things. Usually you have it or you don't. The level of creativity depends mostly on how much you develop it. Then there are those few who are determined to get something or do something and have the drive to get it done.

I think people believe that creative people are born with the ability because the parents are creative and encourage it in their children, whereas those that have buried their creative talents do not encourage it in their children.

I believe that once a child is forced to bury their creative nature it is difficult, NOT impossible, to rediscover it when they are older. This is the same with speech, if a child is not taught by a certain age to speak it is very difficult to teach that person to speak when they are older.

I think creative minds are not formed nor is it learned, you either are born with an open-creative mind or you are not.

Please don't confuse that with being more creative than others by learning to droop barriers and look at other sides. That can be learned however, I personally feel that alone does not make you truly creative, just more so than most others.

I have gone through my entire life looking at everything in ways other than everyone else. I have invented products and sold them for about 25 years. I have had several business ventures, some very good and others not.

I must say that being a very creative person is a curse sometimes as it haunts me from time to time and causes hardships also.

Just my opinion...best wishes to all,

Thanks for you input! I do respect everyones views. I personally don't agree with you on this one, but that doesn't make me right and you wrong. Just my personal belief.

It is amazing though how there are opinions on both sides and the way each side looks at and justifies their views... Intersting!
