Practice Redirecting Focus

I've found it very useful to intentionally practice redirecting focus back to engaging in a specific task.

Because a lot of us work on the internet a lot, it's quite easy to get sidetracked with something on the net. Deliberately alter that habit (if you have one) and go back to what you were doing.

I like to use Tim Ferriss's philosophies when it comes to engaging in business or work related activities. It's very easy for us to waste time but if you can deliberately alter the way you engage your work and interact with the net, rapid productivity results!

A good strategy:

When you work on a task, close all browsers (unless you need one open), CLOSE YOUR EMAIL, close facebook, close anything else and directly engage your task until it's complete! Multitasking is like this thing people wear as a badge... "it's ok, I can multitask," but the truth is.. that's super ineffective and bad for productivity!! Thanks for reading!

  • Great reminder! I agree wholeheartedly, and notice that I become far more focused and productive whenever I implement this.

You are so CORRECT!!! Before I started to focus on my goals and projects I’d get totally side tracked. I’d mean to check facebook real quick and my email and the next thing I know an hour later I’m on some site I have no idea how I got there.

What I have done lately is restrict myself to completing my online tasks first before I allow myself to check my mail or facebook or anything else that can be a distraction.
