The Value of Giving - The Value of Earning

At one time to receive help, or a hand out, was considered by the receiver to be the last option, a lowering in a person’s personal honor. They loved to earn their own way in life and to be able to hold their head high and say, “I earned that! I worked hard to get that!”

Today receiving a hand out is felt my many as their due, as if they are owed something for nothing. They live their lives by the mercy of others and have no self respect or personal honor.

Everyone at time or another needs help and there is no loss of respect for that, but the days of maintaining your honor by paying back or giving back are gone for most people. To many people feel it is their right to be taken care of, to sit at home and do nothing for the money they receive. They don’t take classes to learn a new trade or skill, they do not look or want a job, all they want is to be taken care of.

To me being taken care of and handed something is too close to being someone’s slave. I have to do what they say, jump through their hoops, and follow their rules to get money.

Which would you prefer?

1 You invite a person over to your house and as you walk through they ask where you got the TV and you say it was given to you. They ask where did you buy your car and you tell them that was given to me too. Well, they ask, where did you get all this food, and you say, that too was given to me.

2 Where did you get this beautiful house? I earned it and bought it with the money I saved. Where did you get all these cars? I bought them with the profits from my new business. How did you get all this stuff? I worked hard, saved, and invested my money, now I can afford to buy what I want and live in comfort.

Having something just given to you is not of benefit to you or your family. Whether you acknowledge it or not your subconscious produces a feeling of being a lesser person. You don’t have that feeling of worth, of creating, of being of value to yourself, your family and society.

If you believe having things given to you do not make you a lesser person look at the people of “high society” that has had their wealth and everything given to them. Would you invite these people into your house? Would you want them as friends?

These people do not have the slightest idea of what hard work is, what respect is, or what a person’s worth is. They run around throwing money at things and believe people love them and are their friends. What these people actually attract are the parasites of the world. If their money ran out the parasites would disappear overnight.

If you need help accept it, but only to get back on your feet and learn how to take care of yourself; then when you can return the money or help someone else obtain their freedom and respect as you have.

Do you remember a time when you created something or worked hard for something and could step back and feel the value of it? I remember working for and buying my fist stereo when I was a kid. I had earned the money and bought it myself; nobody bought it for me nor was it given to me.

Those that seek to be successful know the only way is to take control of you r life and learn from those that have succeeded before you.

Excellent post bro. I agree completely.there are too many people in this world, especially in the UK who would rather sit at home watching daytime TV than go out and work for their money. I started my business on my own, yes i had some help from my family, and I will be eternally grateful for that but I still did all the work myself, and it is the best feeling in the world to look at something and say 'I did that'.. and i think hat is a problem that transaltes to making money online too, people don't want to put in any effort, they think money is just going to magically appear in heir paypal account.. as with everything in life, you get out what you put in..

      I wish everyone a prosperous 2011.

      G

I do not mean to offend anyone, it’s just that I can from a family that didn’t have much and instead of taking handouts I joined the military, got an education and have worked ever since. I’m always reading and learning and bettering myself. I do relax and enjoy myself, but I make sure to learn something every single day, more if possible.

Actually it's about giving without being attached to the outcome. The key thing here is that you have to be happy no matter what happens. If you receive or not, it's both great! We were born to give in this life!

It's a philosophy that I'm applying right now and persistently sinking into my subconscious mind.

There is nothing wrong with receiving help and NO one no matter what they say succeeds alone. You needed someone to take care of you when you were young, you needed someone to teach you, and you need other help and advice in life. NO one succeeds alone.

The difference is that to succeed you have to be committed and work hard and help those that helped you and others that are trying to succeed as well.

By taking part in this forum and interacting with the people here it feeds you, helps you and in return you help others.

You give someone a hand UP not a hand out!

Congratulation on the business by the way! Glad to hear it!
