My #1 piece of advice for staying positive.

SING!

It's a proven fact that singing increases a person's mood in as little as 10 seconds. When a person sings, certain muscles in the face contract, and your body has a pavlovian response. You usually move these muscles to smile. Serotonin is released in the synapse, and you feel super.

Try it out, you won't be disappointed.

      No problem!

Music is my life, and I try to have it playing at all times. I can just sing my heart out all day while i'm making my money. I couldn't be happier.

Good advice, although when I sing, it may make me happy, but it makes everyone else sad. LOL.

      You are right.
Did you ever read some of the story behind some songs. They are written when people were having very bad times. They turned to song instead of bitterness.
When things go really bad this advise is sometimes hard to remember though.

I don't have such a good voice for singing, but this is my guilty pleasure. And if I can dance, besides singing, I am the happiest girl on Earth!

Hey lazy, thanks for the great share.

I always feel happy when I sing but never figured out why until you enlightened us with this information.

My only problem is that when I sing, I tend to break a few glasses and the better half puts her head under the pillows, especially when I burst into the 'Sound of Music' number.

LOL at the Sound of Music song. I sing that also! My husband has never seen that movie so he thinks I am crazy!

        Hey Cami,

You've got good taste too! You might have to show your husband the movie and make him realize what he's been missing all these years. The Sound of Music song is apparently very uplifting especially when your dancing and singing at the same time. This will work with any positive song.

As IMers, we need to get off our PC's and sing/dance more often.

I think for musicians who don't like to sing, playing a musical instrument help immensely too. But I like to play my guitar and sing at the same time.
