How to Combat the "Not Enough Time" Excuse

Do you feel that you don't have enough time?

Your thoughts and feelings create your reality. It's a difficult concept to grasp, but if you accept it your life will change.

Each time you repeat to yourself or someone else that you are running out of time, you will generate that feeling, rush, and move into a state of mental hurry. Each time you agree with someone who says they don't have enough time, guess what kind of reality you've created for yourself? More mental hurry, more rushing, more chaotic activity that is counterproductive.

This is why most people live in a state of mental hurry. I've mentioned it before, it's like the alarm clock is a starting gun, signalling a sprint throughout the day.

God did not bless us with a wonderful consciousness so that we would run around a thousand miles a minute like squirrels collecting acorns. A squirrel can't choose their thoughts, we can.

Try repeating a simple affirmation to yourself over, and over and over, like:

"I have more than enough time to do everything I want to do."

When you feel in a hurry, begin repeating this statement to yourself. Do it again, and again and again. Repeat until your consciousness accepts the statement and you will stop rushing. It's feels like magic but it's simply your belief system changing.

A person who's never in a hurry makes an impression. Instead of writing 20 short posts of Warrior each day I now craft 1-2 longer posts that are thought out because I'm no longer in a hurry to get things done. I have more than enough time to do everything I want to do, because I know that I have more than enough time to do everything I want to do. My new strategy has yielding increased business prospects and my presence is expanding too.

How do you combat "Not enough time-itis?"

Hey that is a great point. The key being "I have time to do what I want to do."
I feel a lot like I do not have enough time but I spend a lot of time doing things I don't want.
I am working slowly on changing that, hopefully without ticking to many people off.
One thing i find is that when I act like I have plenty of time, other people that are jealous tend to take advantage of that.

Have you also noticed that when you do something you enjoy the time flies by and when you are doing something you hate it drags on and on? It is all in how we perceive time.

When you are totally involved with what it is you are doing you forget about the time and it moves on without notice. When you are watching time it seems to slow down.

It’s all in the state of mind you place yourself that makes time seem to speed up or slow down.

True, and here is the real wild part: When you stop focusing on time by being fully in the moment time ceases to exist. The perception of time flying by is a but a glimpse of the truth of truths: time is but an illusion. It's a creation of mankind based on the movement of the sun and the moon. When you enter those zones of timeless space the real magic happens.

When you focus on time, checking the clock or thinking about the past or future, time exists for you. You perceive the concept of time and this perception usually leads to an automatic "slowing down." Make no mistake about it. The perceiver created that experience. Time didn't slow down; you focused your attention on a man-made concept. Go back to being in the moment by persistently practicing meditation and time goes away again. Pretty cool how it all works.

      Thanks for sharing guys.

I know that to be true RB. I remember when I was in the military and would take 30 days off every year for my vacation. I didn't have to be anyplace at any time. I didn't track time or look at a calendar, on the rare occasions that I did I'd be amazed at what time it was and what day it was.

Unfortunately in today's world we have to keep track of time which affects how we interact with each day.

I am working towards making a living online so I can enjoy that sense of freedom once again. That freedom was amazing and I want to live it again.

"Repetition is the Mother of Skill." -Anthony Robbins-

I believe that there are 2 important skills we need to master in order to become more successful, more productive, and happier. They are:

          -Setting Goals.

          -Time Management.

These 2 skill require self-discipline to put them to their full potential.

Talk about the "not enough time" excuse, I think most of us have faced it before. You know, after getting up, you decide to write an article, but before doing so, you want to do some "minor things" such as checking Facebook for more updates, opening your e-mail account for newsletters, picking up your cell phone to message, etc... And those minor things cost you the whole morning... I know it because I'm facing it, time management problem

And I want to share with you a simple technique yet I think very powerful, it's called "blocks of time" or something alike.

You break your 24h a day into small pieces. For example, 3 hours from 7 a.m to 10 a.m you will do your business, turn off your phone and log out of FB for a while, 1 hour from 10'15 a.m to 11'15 a.m to have lunch, 1 hour from 11'30 a.m to 12'30 p.m to have a rest, etc...

And remember to do them with self-discipline, sooner or later, you will find yourself on track

I'm putting it into practice now, and I hope you can manage your time well!

So that is why we say time flies when you are having fun. What you are saying is very true. I have spent a lot of time in jobs that I did not like at all and the day seemed forever. But put me at something I enjoy and I almost hate to see the end of the day. It doesn't even seem like work and the day is enjoyable and goes fast if you are wraped up in what you are doing.

This is totally right on RB. It's an epidemic! I was a "mental mess" for the longest time.. things started working wonderfully as soon as I cleared this up. Great thread.

You are spot on. We train ourselves (sub conscious mind) by the messages we continually feed into it. Not knowing any different, it goes on to help us perpetuate that state or feeling. I certainly agree with you on this one.

If I don't have enough time, I need to do a careful analysis of how am I spending it.

Whenever this has happened me, is because of too tight schedules I have set to myself.

We are the parents of excuses. We make excuse like "Not Enough Time" to sleep up our lazy mind lying under us.We feel mentally satisfied by thinking ourselves busy and by making excuses.
Dude I must appreciate your positive thinking like "I have more than enough time to do everything I want to do."These really touches my heart. If everybody started to thinking like this then there would be no work pending.
Finally nice thread man.Wanna give you a big Thanks for such kind of post.Really I learn something new today.Keep posting like such affirmative post.

    You got that bang on!

Time management is a HUGE issue for everyone specially for people working online.

    Great advise here!

I agree with what another warrior has said - analyzing time is essential if - you're not having enough of it on any given day.

There's another thing that has gotten me in its wraps and also a lot of other people out there - time does fly when you are busy - whether having fun or not, but what's crucial is figuring out how PRODUCTIVE you were at the end of the day.

You could spend hours and hours "being busy" but is it really giving you any returns?

I like the blocks theory too.

    Thanks.

If you want something badly enough, you'll manage to find a way out of no way to find time to do something you desire to do, in order to accomplish a specific goal you're seeking to get to. It's all in our minds how we plan on showing up in the world for whatever reason it is. The only excuse we have for not succeeding is ourselves and not putting forth enough effort!
