Sexy Time Management - 30 Minute Increments.

For the next 30 minutes, I will comment on other people's blogs.

Then, for 30 more minutes, I will read a Jason Fladlien free report (he's got tons of them)

Then, I will construct a blog post for 30 minutes (my blog posts are like mini projects a lot of the time)

Next, time to take a 30 minute LAUGH BREAK where I shut down my entire operation and watch something that makes me crack up.

Now, back to business, 30 minutes of writing on my upcoming information product.

After that, 1 hour of relationship building (the best strategy in the world) on Twitter, forums and other people's blogs.

Lastly, I will take 30 minutes to reflect on the great work I did today.

When I first started in IM and blogging, I was a mess. I was everywhere. I'd end up on some random site with no work done. I would sit in front of the computer for 10 hours reading random crap and getting overwhelmed.

Then I implemented this 30 minute increment strategy, defined EXACTLY what I'd do in those 30 minutes and started plugging away. Suddenly my hours cut down significantly (to about 5 a day), I was far more productive, making more sales, learning more and building better more quality relationships.

Sexy, in this context, is used to describe effective. Be Sexy!

Great idea, I'm in the process of reading "Getting things done" by David Allen, its a book detailing productive methods for getting work done in the present times.

With instant skype messages/emails traditional methods such as lists are becoming more and more redundant. If your interested check it out on Amazon.

      Thanks for the heads up.

Great strategy, Ryan. I use something very similar - it's called the Pomodoro technique, and it also focuses on breaking up your time into productive 25 minute chunks:

I have used this technique for decades, not knowing it had been formalized. I use a countdown timer on my computer for my time segments.

Also, I don't take a comedy break as Ryan suggests, but do take a similar music break. I find music distracting as I work, so a music break is good and the tunes tend to stick in the mind, which is also good. I also take 2 exercise breaks.

There is no question that working with a timer is a good thing. When you can see time "running out" you have micro-motivation.
