4 Reasons You Might Be A Loser

You might be a loser. Loser meaning a person who loses out on life.
Losers can't see opportunity if it bites 'em in the bum. They miss out on everything.

You Are A Chronic Complainer

Most complain. Losers make it a habit.

They bitch and moan about everything that's wrong with the world. They can tell you every person who screwed them over.

They rail against the government, their boss, anybody.

Losers blame, winners take responsibility.

You Don't Set Aside Quiet Time

Losers never have time for quiet time. It's a waste.

Their habits of self-sabotage replay again and again since they never pull back from the hustle and bustle of daily living to review what they're doing and where they're heading. It's why most losers appear to travel in a circle.

Mistake. Lesson not learned. Mistake. Lesson not learned. Repeat until death.

No Review = No Progress.

Losers never spend time alone with their thoughts, winners spend hours a day in contemplation or meditation.

Your Decisions Are Driven By Fear

Fear is your driver.

You worry about failing.

You see risks instead of opportunity.

You try to figure out all the things that might go wrong.

You worry about what others think of you. You're anxious over what others will say about you if you make a courageous decision.

You Procrastinate Until Opportunities Vanish

You come across an awesome opportunity. Yep, ready to start today!

Then you wait....put off researching it. Put it off some more. Decide it's not for you. Decide it is for you. Say you'll get around to it.

Days, weeks, months, years and lifetimes pass. Opportunity gone.

The truth is each moment holds limitless opportunities but losers are too blind to see this.

Losers are driven exclusively by fear, winners are primarily driven by faith.
If this post stings, good. You're headed somewhere of note.

It wasn't until I owned many of these states of mind that I ceased being a loser.

So....any other former life long losers out there? How did you turn it around? Even if you aren't a loser, do you find yourself falling into any of these destructive habits? How do you remedy them?

There's no such thing as a “loser.” Just people at different stages of development and progress.

      Sure. Good distinction.

We're all human and sometimes a person may think they're a “loser,” when it's not actually true. Even if a person focuses on losing, that doesn't necessarily make it so.

Just look at the hundreds of prominent people all throughout history who thought that life wasn't even worth living because of who they were and what was happening in their life ...

On her 30th birthday Florence Nightingale wrote in her diary that she saw nothing desirable but death. Michael Jordan, when cut from the basketball team, locked himself in his room and cried. Abraham Lincoln took to walking the woods alone with a gun and talking of suicide.

      (There are many more examples.)

Personally I've thought of myself as a “loser” many times. But, I'm still here going strong and creating the life I want for myself. :-)

Everyone has all of these traits in them. Just different amounts. I know that I procrastinate to do one thing, but jump the ball on other things. It really all just depends on the person and where they are in life.

I agree. The 3rd one is probably the major stumbling block for me as far as IM goes. I find a decent niche or strategy then try to convince myself of reasons why it will fail. By the time I've researched & overthought everything I probably could have bought a domain name, thrown up some content and at least given it a chance at succeeding. At the very worst, it would have failed and even then I'd be better off for having definitively concluded that it was a failure rather than always wondering if maybe it could have worked.

I think that the main thing here is to change your mind set. "If You Believe, You Can Achieve" while it is true that most will have one if not all of these traits. By simply changing the way that you mind thinks about most things, then you are sure to become a WINNER in everything that you do.

I agree with your post and could add more to it if I had time. Maybe another time, but I agree about everything in your post.

However, something you didn't seem to mention is that it is brought down from generation to generation. Usually a loser's father and grand father were losers too.

      Hi Alcymart.

I definitely agree that certain things are passed down from generation to generation. However, if a person truly wants it, then can overcome anything - even bad “programming.”

Great post! A coincidence, when I read a blog saying that fear can destroy one's career. And that there's this unusual but common fear for freelancers: fear of success.

Ryan, great post. It is nice to get reminded all the time about these stuff. Just one more I would like to add to your list.

Self limitation. If you think you can't do it, then you wouldn't be able to do it. Self doubt has a way of taking the strength out of you. There is difference between knowing your limitations at the moment and limiting yourself.

Man, this post hit me at my head

I agree with Sarah about her point, everyone of us have some degree of those traits. To me, procrastination is the darkest part (I was also a heavy complainer in the past, now it's much lighter lol), I don't know why but anytime I start to do something new with my IM business, my mind says to me "just relax, you have nothing to hurry for" (it's killing me, I know).

Now, after reading this, I will try to force myself to do it!

    Thanks for sharing Ryan!

Why many people don't succeed because of the fear, fear of failure, there's no harm in trying, failure is just a small part of success. Thank you anyway for your great thread really inspirational.

You see risks instead of opportunity.

You try to figure out all the things that might go wrong.

A good financier will see both, and ofcourse you need to understand and control your down side. If you are not risk manageing your business you'll have a melt down at some point.

I say if you are not seeing those two you'll be a loser for sure, and broke.

There is no doubt that some folks are "losers." We don't like the term and it's doesn't seem positive, but it's a fact.

Maybe not in this particular forum or as it relates to this particular post. But the prisons are full of people who have no intention of developing. No intention of changing. And think constantly about how to hurt others.

Great thought provoking and contrarian post, Ryan.

I agree with some of what you said about fear.

But it can also be a huge motivator and for some, the thing that pushes them to do what they previosuly would not have attempted.

For instance you loose your job......suddenly the fear of no income overcomes your fear of for instance starting a business or taking on that opportunity.

Fear channeled in the right direction can be your best friend. I know in the past it has for me.

    Hi Ryanbiddulph,

Awasome! I agree totally 100%. You should post this more often. The truth is hard, and many of them might don't want to hear it. But I know for sure, that a post like this is only for helping ourselfs. Losing is a habbit. You mind stucks on what you lost and not on what you can achieve. Be brave, be smart and let the past go. Everyone have been a looser. I was the biggest loose! I never believed in my self. Well after a breakdown I had last year, I stood up. Noone is better that myselft and I can achieve everything I need to achieve. I left my looser and guilty feeling behind. I changed my self, with very hard work. Now I trust myself as I never trusted it before. I don't care what other people think or do. I just care of what I think. ... And I thing positive now! I even find myself meditating on my thought, just as you said.

Well done and Thanx for your enlightment.

I would like to add another reason some are losers....

That is the unwillingness to learn.
I worked with a guy once that didn't want to learn anything because "then the boss would expect more."
Needless to say, Some others at the company made more than he did even though they had less seniority because he did his job and nothing else.

I would like to add that some losers just need a chance and some kind teaching to be turned into winners. I think someone mentioned the losers family. Some people don't know how to be a winner because they never spent any time around one.

Sometimes I alternate between fear and discouragement. Then I pick myself up & go on. It's a lot like having kids: The dailiness sometimes gets to you but the kids are still there & they still need you & you really do love them so you pick yourself up & get back to what needs to be done.

Focusing on your failures is a sure way to repeat them.

We must focus on our successes. We all have had successes in life in one way or another. If we focus on those successes, we can find in ourselves the confidence that we have what it takes, and make success happen again and again.

Sounds simplistic but it's true. You have to have a postive mindset and a mental state that's ready to succeed. Work hard and with confidence and perseverance and in the end, you can do it.
