Are You Living Your Life To The Fullest?

I know it is quite ironic to make this kind of thread in a webmaster forum. After all, the main ideas in this forum are all about being driven, reaching goals and making money.

But it seems that in all the noise, the main idea is this.

More money = success
Success = happiness

But is it really true?

What if this is your last day to live? Are you truly happy?

The reason I want to point this out is because I don't want you to get too caught up in the capitalistic drama. You have to do what you are doing because you LOVE doing it and not because you are going to make lots of money out of it.

Sure you will make all that money.

But for what? Fake happiness gained from purchasing different items.

Let's be honest here. Even if you buy the latest 'thing', you will experience a temporary high. Then after that, you lose it and you go looking for more money to get that high again.

And in the process, you will be tired, eating junk food and neglecting all the important people in your life.

So stop this nonsense.

Money will not make you successful and money will not make you happy.

You don't need money to be happy.
You don't need money to help.
You don't need money to make a difference.

You just need to be happy and spread it to other people.

Don't plan your life in a way that you will be happy 'later' when all of your goals has been met. Don't let each second of your breath go to waste.

But don't get me wrong. I know that we still need to make a living.

But I want you to do that passionately and forget about the money. Once you put your heart in something and others recognize the value of what you are doing, you will make money eventually without feeling miserable or excessively tired and giving up time for your love ones and for making an impact in another person's life.

You only have ONE life.

Share the joy and do something because you know that you are happy and you are helping other people.

And if you want to help or show your love to someone, don't hold back for there might not be another chance.

So do you think you are already living your life to its fullest?

My opinion, happiness comes from doing what you love, making progress, and sharing with other people. No matter who the person is, everyone feels great after helping a person out with something relevant. Love your post. All smiles over here

There is no happiness in things. There is no happiness in money.

Money makes life easier and could open some gateways to follow your dreams. But I'm sure you can pursue your dreams without money as well.

You can start feeling happy everyday, it is within the grasp of your own imagination. I think hapiness could only be experienced to the fullest, when it is shared.

I see earning money as a game, after a while it doesn't really do anything 'emotionally' to you when you earn a lot or lose a lot of money, I just see it as it is: a game.

Great post. Indeed the time to be happy is now. It is not good to hope you will be happy tomorrow because you would have wasted your time. So doing what you enjoy doing is the greatest thing you can do for yourself and your loved ones.

well .. happiness is a choice . you can be happy in any moment it is up to you to reach for thought and feeling that are more positive. it is not about what you do or what is happening to you . I think i read it from the 4 hour workweek. but happiness is a shallow goal.. what we really want is excitement.

I think we are moving from cultures focused on ownership to a culture focus on access. Where many more people will have access to what brings them excitement. How many people get what they say will make them happy then down the road not to far they are miserable again. the source of their happiness turns tun the source of their lack of happiness.

Seeking happiness outside ourselves is what drives the economy. and another driver is that our culture quickly makes you think it is not enough so your back to being unhappy to seek the next thing. Perpetual dissatisfaction.

I'm not in it for money. I'm in it for freedom.

I have dreams of one day working from home and being able spend more time with my yet-to-be-born kids. Being able to take the odd holiday on a whim and work from anywhere.

You're right though... It's definitely important to stay present and enjoy each day. That's something I'm finding hard to juggle since I started in IM. I spend so much time thinking about the future now.

I have experienced being poor and homeless, and also experienced how life is to have a lot of money. One thing for sure, I was happier with more money than being poor and homeless.

Money does NOT make you happy, But what you can do with money could make you happy. The first few years of my adult life I was on the assumption that making too much money wouldn't make you happy. I was only working against myself because I was deliberately "dimming my light" to fit in and make others happy. After 10 years of wrestling with the thoughts, I decided being poor was not something for me. I decided I was going to make a lot of money and spend it all as long as I live. I like working hard. I love what I do and it just gives me the joy to see my ventures working. I love also to use a large part of my resource to help those who want to help themselves.

The fact is, it is not the money, it is the drive to be successful in what you do. Today, When you are successful in what you do it makes money. If you enjoy what you do and you are successful at it why not use the money to help others if that is what you want to do. I know people who prefer the financially simple live. That is great, if you can afford it. Sometimes, when you are unwillingly poor you spend more time thinking about money than when you have it.

well unless you have money you'll have to work as a slave in a job for the rest of your life which I will NEVER be happy with.

    So yes...money does create happiness.

But of course yes on its own without fun and friends money will not make you happy, but we are all kidding ourselves if you say it doesnt matter or make you any happier.

The world would be a much different place if that was true. I wish it was, but reality hit me pretty hard in the face enough times to realize, the world runs on money, if you have it, than you can participate, if you don't, you can't play.

Without money, you can't really do anything. Most of us (even if you love your job, there are still things you hate about it) do things we hate everyday, just to get a little change so we can do something we love....and that tends to be repeated throughout our lives. It's what we do with that change, that makes it all worth it!

There is so much power in that meaning -unfortunately it is often overlooked and forgotten.

Of course you won't get rich just by being happy but if you can share your excitement with others teaching them something they want and need to learn then you will.

Yesterday was the future - we need to live each day to the fullest because tomorrow it will be gone.

The wealth of happiness starts from within. It is our attitude.

If we have no money, but we feel rich and abundant, then money and all sorts of gifts will come to us.

If we have money but are bothered by our problems and fears, then that is not success!

I used to believe people who had lots of money were not good, and that is ridiculous. Its true, you can help people more and have a broader outlook on life, when you have money.

Money is all part of gods creation, it is just as spiritual to have a mercedes as it is an old bomb!

We can experience the divine if we have money, and if we don't.

Better to have it so we have more choices.

      Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies. I know that I will raise a lot of eyebrows especially since I posted this in a forum like this.

Helping cannot be only done with money. It is better to touch another person's life by being present with them than giving them money and ignoring them.

A lot of people think that they can only help AFTER they make money for themselves. That is because they are thinking of themselves first because they are not contented with their life.

Honestly, if you have clean water and good food and shelter, is there anything else you need? Do you honestly NEED a mac, iphone and all the other gadgets so you can show the world how great you are? Do you NEED a big house? What for? Soon, you will realize that it all boils down to the distorted perception of your existence that you NEED to please other people for them to accept you.

I think this quote can explain everything better.

      Be content with what you have;
rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
the whole world belongs to you.
If you realize that you have enough,
      you are truly rich.

I am glad that you are enjoying the process of what you are doing. That is really what this post is all about. Less focus on the results and more focus on the enjoyment of the process. Less focus on the future and more on the present.

But I could not blame you especially since you have gone through a moment where you cannot even provide the most basic needs in your life. But now that you have the means to live, why not use the money to help out those who are in need without excessively rewarding yourself? I guess you are doing that already.

But I also like to point out that you have to stop comparing and start enjoying your existence. Even if you have gone through the low part of your life, you are still breathing and still living. I just want people to put less focus on themselves and more on the world (which is a pretty hard thing to do). But that is the only way for a person to truly live.

I also thought about that as well at the beginning. But the key here is to make money while doing the things that you love and not just earn money for the sake of it.

And sorry if I have to disagree about "money does create happiness".

You will not be a slave if you love what you do. And people have different definitions about what they love to do.

Also, money does not create 'fun' or encourage REAL friends. Money is simply a means for survival but that's it. Anything in excess should be given to another person's survival. Don't buy what the media is saying that we need this and we need that because the goals of these people is to SELL to you so you can be enmeshed in the capitalistic spiral. It is a hard pill to swallow for me but it changed the way I view my life and since then I was able to meet and help lots of different people WITHOUT money.

Take a look at this post. It is an eye-opener for me.

I guess you are right that a lot of people can't control what kind of jobs they have. And you're also right that everyone should work towards having a job they are passionate in. The world will be a better place if people are focused on creating than on consuming.

And yes, we cannot eliminate money completely. But at least we can change our perspective on how to use it.

hi Aira! Thanks for your personal message in response to my thread offering offsite SEO work. Unfortunately I cannot reply to pms! So i have found a thread of yours hoping that you have subscribed to it and will get this message from me - can you please provide an email address so we can continue the talk?

    Here was my reply:

Thanks for your reply! I guess the first thing to ask you would be what info do you need from me, to be able to determine the activities you’d feel suitable for the type of site I want to optimise monthly, and time you’d need to put in?

I am thinking along the lines of backlinking really, in whatever form you see fit, but am open to suggestions.

An example of a site in one of the more competitive niches I've been asked to SEO is this site:

[removed as i dont want to break rules and post urls]

This is just an example - it has onsite optimisation and theming across different pages (might not be perfect onsite optimisation but as you can see it is only targeting one small area of the UK for only a few keywords, and this example is simply to give you an idea of the type of site you would be promoting - most sites in less competitive niches than this one).

Also would be good to know if you’d like any assurance of payment eg some sort of agreement, and if you’re happy with paypal.

I should add - my clients do not expect anything but to see an effect; they don't need number 1 rank nor would I expect it of you, but it would be good to give them a rank on the 1st page, or some improvement to an existing rank, this would be more than fine and sufficient, so no pressure to get all sites to number 1!

You'd be working on offsite seo of at least 2 websites a month, these 2 main websites are my company websites both oriented around design services in Hampshire uk - these need consistent monthly offsite SEO, once a month.

Other websites would be my clients websites, and the number of these per month would vary, but of course I would pay you a set monthly fee per site so you'd not get given 5 sites and be paid the same as just those main 2.

Let me know what you think and anything you need from me in order to determine whether you feel this would be suitable and if so what it'd cost me.

As in my thread this is an experiment coming out of my own expense for the first few months - if all goes well, I'd raise your pay as it would then come from my company (I want to show my boss that this works, then I will get his buy-in and funding)

I can guarantee that you will see the results fast. However, sales can only be guaranteed based on the copy or the website structure. I am only going to focus on offpage optimization so I can only take care of the rankings.
