Since vision and purpose are so important when creating a successful business, I would love to hear your vision and purpose. why do you do what you do why are you in business and what are you going to accomplish.

Money is not an acceptable answer.

If you a in business solely for money massive wealth and success will be speculative and by chance.

If you have vision and purpose your success is guaranteed.

Sorry, but the whole point of a business IS money. It's sad I have to point that out on a business forum.

How long would you operate your business if it made no money?

Success is NOT guaranteed by having vision or purpose or anything else.

ah, you see that's where I totally disagree. Success should not be measured by how much money one has. I don't have gobs of money yet, but I consider myself a success. As an example of what I mean: I successfully quit smoking last August (2007) after smoking for 40 long years. I can think of any number of examples. Everyone is successful at something, I think.

Personally, money is a means to an end, not the end in and of itself. Me and a group of friends are banding together to build a non-profit prayer/retreat center that will double as a youth camp/ranch, and foster homes for an overloaded foster care system in Idaho. Internet Marketing is the vehicle I have chosen to get me to where I have both the time and money to invest into my real passion, this new youth ranch. You can get to the project site through my second signature file link. Internet Marketing money is just the means to the end.

The question I think is very vague and not able to be answerd especially considering making "money" obsolete when speaking of business. The idea of money not being acceptable is pretty confusing when most business do have a bottom line to either serve for a truly higher purpose like Tim's - or for a simple pencuinary gain to eridate a unpleasant circumstance in someones life that only money can solve. Hope ya feel me on that!

I understand that you need money to run a business, I wouldnt of been it business for the past 5 years if I didnt have money. I make very good money, but thats not why I got into business.

Its just that money cant be the sole reason for running your business,

The question is what are you trying to accomplish with your business, how are you contributing to the world with your business.

Every successful business has a vision and purpose.

some just call it a mission statement.

    Hi nicholasb,

Firstly, when you have a business, your purpose should be first to discover and then to apply all your unique gifts and talents to add the most possible value to your customers/clients life (that should be your vision).

Secondly, fact is that having purpose and vision does NOT automatically guarantee success. You have to add a healthy, supportive and positive belief system to achieve any kind of significant success.

If you have any limiting beliefs regarding your business, your purpose and vision WON'T make you successful. Your self-imposed limits will ALWAYS sabotage success - no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try! Sad but true.

    Hope this helps.

Money is an essential commodity that helps you run your life. Exchanging goods for goods is an old practice and without any money, you cannot buy anything you wish. Philosophically speaking, money cannot buy everything but practically money is the basic thing that is used for calculating the status ofany person.

My vision is to influence and help as many people as possible. It's more than a vision though, it's an addiction.

I find that the more successful I become, the stronger this addiction gets.

The more money I HAVE, the more I want to GIVE.

I believe that the more you give, the more you will get.

why do you do what you do = i enjoy it

why are you in business = to make profit

what are you going to accomplish = leave a happy life and have a profitable business

I don't agree on your comment about money.. We are in this business to make money.

If this is not your primary focus you will fail.

    Cheers,
