What is it with the warrior forum

I love the Warrior forum.
What is it that makes successful people share ideas and help others. I know some of the sceptics question the motivation for helping competitors.

Without being too starry eyed about this I'd like to share something I read earlier.

I've been rereading a book about the mental side of golf by the famous Dr Bob Rotella.

One of his early clients was the US Open golf champion Tom Kite. Tom became very successful and started recommending Rotella to his fellow pro golfers. Some were sceptical saying if he helps you, why do you want to help us. We're your competitors. Apparently Kite replies:

" There's more than enough money out here for all of us.You guys are going to help me get better and I am going to help you get better. We're all going to help each other have fun seeing how good we can get"*.

It just struck me- this is what the WF is for me.

What do you guys think?

All the best,
Paul

By helping each other, we ultimately help ourselves. Also, remember that not everyone specializes in the same areas and techniques, so it'd be very beneficial for us to "barter" our services and help each other with the areas/methods in which we are most well-versed.

With things I do online, I know there is only ONE of me....although I feel I have alot of great ideas, I can't be everywhere and I can't help everyone. Where I leave off, I gladly link my blog to a plethora of outside resources that I deem valuable. I encourage people to sign up to other's mailing lists. Really....the internet has evolved...IM'ers, IMHO, have no other choice but to continually give of themselves.

Some will take advantage, and have. Those who continually give value...who give back...'should' be recognized, over time. There are very few secrets online anymore. I know alot of people would disagree with me, but I direct personally prefer to direct people to where they will find the help they are seeking...whether that be through my own blog, or someone elses.

      Interesting post.

In fact I read something similar that went along the lines of "You can't ever truly be successful if you envy others that you consider to be successful."

Basically it works off the fact that you will not let yourself BECOME that which you despise.

So by helping others "grow" I agree with you, you help yourself grow too!

Also there is a little bit of the fact that you want some recognition for what you have achieved as well.

If we all helped each other in more areas, we wouldn't have poverty, no one would go hungry, there would be very little crime. Wars would be something of the dark ages.

Something that sticks with me I once heard on a movie. "Most people live on the world and not in it".

    But WF is something special.

I agree 100% - helping others is how we help ourselves. This is all to do with just generally being "good" - having a "good" heart and having a "good" character.

All of the benefits in life come from the "good", the doing of "good" and the intention of "good".

Thanks for this post OP - It was very beautiful - and from my experience of the WF, everybody has made me feel so welcome and helped me where I needed it - so I have done my best to return the favour.

you give out ideas that help people improve their business. people give you information that helps you improve your business. If there is someone on the board who is an actual direct competitor. you and work off each other and cooperate to help each other out.

there is a big pie out there ..plenty for everyone.
