Love this quote. Seems appropriate here...

"You may succeed if nobody else believes in you, but you will never succeed if you don't believe in yourself." ~John Maxwell

I think everything you can use, music, movies, smells, bells, anything like that to achieve a powerful state of mind, can be really powerful.

And our beliefs shape our expectations. If we expect success, we will see all the opportunities for success and probably take the best ones. If we expect failure, we will probably miss all the opportunities.

I hate the quote "expect the worst, hope for the best." Sounds like someone who watches the news all day and reads every damn newspaper on the planet. The news is made up of mostly negative things. Imagine the expectations of the world you are filling your mind with reading all that news.

      Hey Caleb,

I completely agree with you here!

Your right on point about all the things we can use to push ourselves to keep head strong in the right direction. The mindset you have will always determine the level of success you see, or if you see and success at all. That should be the frost step in your imporvement.

      Hope that helps!

      God bless,

  • Everything is impossible until it isn't.

This is precisely why you need to believe it before you see it instead of believing it when you see it.

Here's a short list of beliefs that if listened to, would've kept us in the dark ages...

640Kb ought to be enough for anyone. Bill Gates.
Aerial flight is one of that class of problems with which man will never be able to cope. Simon Newcomb, American astronomer (1903).
Everyone acquainted with the subject will recognize it as a conspicuous failure. Henry Morton, President of the Stevens Institute of Technology, on Edison's incandescent lamp (c.1880).
I am tired of all this sort of thing called science here ... We have spent millions in that sort of thing for the last few years, and it is time it should be stopped. U.S. Senator Simon Cameron, on the Smithsonian Institute (1901).
I think there is a world market for maybe five computers. Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM, 1943.

All of the impossibilities we're made real by great men and women who believed in something similar to this...
"If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable." Seneca.

And it fueled them to turn the picture in the head into reality.

Believing is a tricky thing. It doesn't work quite the way that you just say one day to yourself you want to believe in your success and every thought to the contrary would change that very moment. Your subconscious would rather say, oh really, and who was that failure last year and five years ago and the year before that? Or it would list all the possible reasons why it is much safer, easier, more convenient etc to be unsuccessful. You fool want much more money? What about IRS? What your friends would think about it? Don't you know that money is the root of all evil? This goes on and on and your subconscious wouldn't let you fall into all those great problems it knows are connected to your goal.

Without using a good method first to clean this stuff out, nothing would never ever come out of it. I would suggest The Sedona Method, EFT, or Ho'oponopono. Even Innertalk subliminals could help.

Believing in yourself is what we all need to do. Most people I meet are scared to actually believe in themselves, it's actually quite easy to do, you just have to dish out more to prove it.

I think that not believing in ones self is tragic in that it keeps a person from ever knowing what they could have achieved had they believed and took a chance. I read a book many years ago that I think was called "Imaging" and in it was a method described that was so simplistic that it is easy to dismiss but I have found it very useful.
The method taught is to take possession and control of ANY negative thought, immediately expel it, and replace it with positive affirmations relevant to the situation, and believe it. It takes practice, but once it is practiced enough, it is nearly like second nature. It then becomes easy to push out self-defeating negative thoughts and beliefs and replace them with your untapped power within, which we all have and need to recognize.

Great topic and wonderful insights. I've always used the magic question to make me focus on the positive instead of those limiting negative beliefs. The magic question is How can I do this? It works wonders and I always find that it helps me stop telling myself I can't, and focus instead on what I can do to achieve my goals.
