Why Be Someone Else When You Can Be Yourself?

Day after day, I see people try so hard to be like a famous person they admire. If that person wears their hair a certain way then they go and do the same thing. If the celeb talks a certain way then they work their hardest at replicating it.

Why? Why? Why, is the question I must ask...

I see famous stars all the time, but everytime I look in the mirror I see the biggest star that I know. In the end, it is much eaiser to be ourself and do us. Being ourself is how we stand out from the crowd.

When we start following people we are always going to be one step behind them. To be the greatest we have to be one step ahead and that is only going to happen by making our own decisions.

Learn to make your own foot prints in the snow or you will never be the best at anything.

Being a follower means we will always be a runner up.

Best Wishes,

everyone takes time to reveal true themselves. It is a long and hard way and requires much effort and willingness to work and establish yourself.

So it is easier and more secure to follow others who are acknowledged and loved by public.

What difficult questions. The struggle is not only being ones self, but understanding who that person is, and accepting that person. The problem arises when one cannot accept who one really is, because of limiting beliefs. We all had parents who meant the best, but as toddlers we began drawing our own conclusions that were often only one way to interpret the situation. We form most of our beliefs about how the world works and how to survive before the age of 5 or 6. From then on, we interpret based upon our preconceived beliefs.

One must believe success is attainable before it can be obtained. The tool I use is Morty Lefkoe's method ... ReCreate Your Life. Morty promises to guide you to eliminate your negative beliefs, or your money back...for life. That's a good guarantee.

Once one has eliminated limiting beliefs, then it is easy to take the advice here and integrate it. Once you have your natural confidence, then absorbing the energy and philosophy of successful people is natural, and success is a foregone conclusion.

        That's my 2 cents.

I clicked because I was interested why there were so few responses.

    I am 49 1/2

I have definitely come to completely accept myself - proof of this is I recently overcame my fear when tackling the challenge of recording my first YouTube video.

I specifically chose my domain name so that I would not hide behind a product or company.

I am valuable. I have a lot to give, and I can make a contribution to whomever chooses to receive.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but an habit.
I think we should never resign ourselves to the status quo. If you're fat, lazy and a procrastinator, then set out to overcome these bad habits and become a better human being.

Be yourself is not enough. We should try to be better than ourselves, get the most of our potential.

I do not believe we can be better than ourselves. That does not make sense to me, but I do believe in being the best we can be. In my opinion, that comes though patience and the willingness to accept change.

    Great thread,

and Carol.. awesome reply (and everyone else).

I'm totally aligned with this William. I'm for speaking to the people who get it, and not trying to be for everyone.

I'll add: I'm a fanatic of human behavior, personality types, psychology and deliberate mental conditioning and I've found it quite beneficial to "pull from" effective individuals traits which you want to embody and then altering and molding them in your own unique way.

    Great thread.

I am inspired by people who make a name for themselves or just those random people I meet everyday, but it doesn't always mean that I want to be someone else other than myself. I think it is but natural to follow something that has been proven successful, what is important is that you don't lose your identity in doing so.
