Bless what annoys you

It taught you a lesson in patience.

It taught you a lesson in attachment.

I'm noting plenty of annoyed people today....noting, and releasing, of course But I see the time and energy invested in complaining and it seems to be a general waste.

Venting is fine. Complaining for extended period of minutes, hours or beyond is absurd, because it's you fighting against a situation you created in the first place.

Don't pick the fight, it doesn't exist. Or change your perception and what annoys you just taught you how to be more tolerant, or mindful of your negative emotions.

Thoughts?

Back when I was looking into Gurdjieff's Fourth Way, we learned a phrase that has helped immensely over the years. Over time, it morphed for several different uses, so I don't remember the original right now.

Someone cuts you off in traffic? Instead of sweariing at them, smile and say toward them: "Thank you for being such a unique and individual expression of life."

Face to face with someone you would surely strangle if you don't calm down, you could say: "You are certainly a truly unique and individual expression of life." On quite a few occasions, I've had the other person say "thank you".

It takes time to learn how to tame negative emotions.

The knowing of true reasons why smth happens really helps.

What practical actions do you do to stay motivated and calm when something is annoying you? or what affirmations/afforemations?

      Great point Justin.

How a person behaves has nothing to do with how you see them.

Thats very true! Need to make peace with our enemies, and whatever is annoying us about someone else, probably exists within us anyway!

as you said, good to vent your anger and get it out, then carry on with what you want in your life!
