What Do You Do If You Start Feeling Discouraged???

What do you do if you start feeling discouraged? What helps you to keep going?

For myself, small successes help me, and thinking and focusing on those small successes, or large successes, that have happened in the past.

I keep a running list of ideas, when I become discouraged or complacent I whip out my list. Perhaps starting a new project. I often bounce between a couple of projects to keep things fresh and interesting. If the list does not work for motivation I take a day off and go enjoy myself, I always come back invigorated and energized.

I just keep my emotions in check. No emotional roller-coasters please! The best way for me to do that is to keep focused on my present work. Discouragement (which is a form of worry) is a distraction I don't need.

Stop, breathe, go back to square one and figure out what I need to do RIGHT NOW to help take me closer to my goal. Most times just stepping away from the computer helps!

I always think back to what inspired me to commit, then I always remember the commitments that I have made which are based from my inspiration. I like to go after WHY's more than wants, so that when I get discouraged (normally we only get discouraged from the perception of lack towards our wants) I remember that I don't do the things I do for the wants, i do them for the whys.

I have committed myself to being an inspiration to others and really I think that is what holds me accountable to persevering the most.

I look at all the people around me who have made it, some with less resources than I have, then I thank God and ask him to help me remain Focused, because I know Online Marketing is not easy, it is not for the faint hearted, BUT has great returns if you just remain focused and do the right things, it helps though, to have a mentor as well in this business! either from books or a friend who is earning a living from it!

Very Inspiring Vid...just thought I'd point this out!..

        Ya...

I'm at a frustrating point myself...made a little money...and need to keep pushing along (somehow)....

I think I need to a take a break for a few day...since Oct 2010, every day whither it's 4 hours or 20 I've been trying to build my biz...

Basically I haven't had a day off in what...6 months...

I should take a few days to a week off...but I find that I can't do it....don't really no why...but I cannot get away and relax.

I know that I'm probably HINDERING MY SUCCESS by not finding a way to re-energize...

        Anybody else have this problem?

If I get discouraged I spend more quality time with my friends and treat myself better as a whole.
Then - after a week or two when I get back to Internet marketing, Im good again.

I have this intense ability to FOCUS on what I want and on my work. But, once in a while, life happens...I listen to uplifting classical music -- it transports me to another realm, away from my petty concerns.

I read inspirational literature and reflect on the lives of great men (they had their shares of the ''dark'' times, too)

I watch movies... and I see life itself as a movie , as in...these current disappointing scenes would pass:-)

In my case, I take a look at the world and the people that have such scarce resources. There is people out there that barely have anything to eat, or even a home to stay in at nights. These people would love to have at least some of what we are able to enjoy, and often times it is not even the money. So, I get out of my discouragement and try even harder.

Work on something that generates money (even small amounts, like $37) on a consistent basis. There's nothing like a 'hands-free' system pumping daily credits into your PayPal account to cheer you up

My WHY is what keeps me driven...My kids. It has been a gift to be able to work at home full time and get to see sons grow up.

This is a white flame of burning desire that can not go out. If it goes out, I go out.

When you get paid by your results in this line of work, there is good times (flow) and there are bad times (disconnect). If I hit a road block, I have to find a way around it or through it.

If your why is strong enough, it will keep you focused and moving towards your goals. Everyone feels discouraged at time no matter how successful they have been. Remember why you signed up and what you will miss if you do not follow through.

    It depends...
If it is a project, I take a break from it. Sometimes I do something to take my mind off of it like read or watch tv. Sometimes I just relax and kind of let my mind wander for a bit.
If it is an overall "stuff ain't going right, why bother" mood, I spend time doing things to remind me why I do the things I do. I spend time with my family. Reading and TV are just an escape in this scenario and they don't help the situation, they just mask it for a while.

Why do you need to succeed? What will success bring to you and your family? Imagine how it would feel to be able to do what you want, when you want, with whom you want and how much you want. It's a wonderful feeling.

A compelling reason why carries within it the seeds of motivation and it will give you the strength to persevere when you feel like throwing in the towel. What is your reason(s) why?

The only way you can ultimately fail is if you give up. Don't give up. Learn from your mistakes and keep trying. "If at first you don't succeed, call it version 1.0."

Focus on the reason(s) you absolutely MUST succeed and let that really fire you up and inspire you take the committed and consistent daily action that will propel you forward toward achieving your goal.

I pick a fight with someone smaller than me, I'm just joking- settle down...

But seriously, I like to think of all the people that have put me down, if I give up they win- I can't live with that!

    and if you're into it...

Nothing boosts my confidence like getting a new tattoo.

    or if the weather's nice...

A quick blast on the motorbike, it is impossible to feel discouraged 200kmh.

I try to analyse the things and situation - as to why it is so happening ? If i can get reply , well, i try to do something in that direction. Many a times we do not know what is the reason. Many external factors totally beyond our control or the various planets also cause such situations. In that case i simply keep quite, let the time pass on like it, feeling that time is best medicine for every problem. I pray god and wait for sunshine after the darkness with a hope in mind.

First of all, I clear away all worries or clutter in my mind then relax. Once I have relaxed, I go back and review my plan and the goal...maybe they need some changes or modification.

i take a step back and tell myself "remember that this feeling of hopelessness is temporary, don't lose sight of the bigger picture" and it works every time.

You see, if you can convince yourself that instead of living in a "day-by-day" mentality, you have to focus on what you will accomplish in your FUTURE, if you work TODAY you will have no problems getting back up after being beat down. It might be a bit complicated but trust me, it works for me

  • Here is one more for the list -

Practice Smiling - This may seem extra simple but if you smile it is very difficult to feel discouraged. Take a moment right now and begin to smile and you will see exactly what I mean.

I take a breather from the computer and take a walk to clear my head. By the time I return, I usually have a fresh perspective, especially if the software is hung up, or something won't post. Doing something over and over and getting the same poor result drives me batty! Then, I just decide it is a good time to take a break. Works every time.

Focusing too much on the past gets you depressed because of longing of better times or regret, while looking forward too much will just make you anxious. I try to keep my mind in the present and that helps with my concentration and output in whatever I engage in.
