Think and Grow Rich is About Action

Yesterday I had a cross country flight so I picked up TAGR to take with me. It is a cool experience to read the entire book straight through. The book is amazing and mostly has stood the test of time, certainly the content has. There are a few dated references and examples but the principles are great.

What struck me is how many references there are to action and planning. /i know there are many threads on the LOA on the forum, but I view TAGR as a book primarily about action.

Anyways I recommend it highly as the principles are great and universally true.

Wow, do I love this book. I'm on my 3rd read of it. It has radically changed my life.

It's interesting that your take away from your 1st reading was that it is a book primarily about action. I'll have to look at the book from your perspective! You've got me to thinking...

For me, Think and Grow Rich is About Ideas.

    No wait... It's about Desire.

Oops ... I mean it's about Visualization and Faith.

Hmmmm ...isn't it really about Imagination?

Come to think of it ... it's *really* about Autosuggestion, the Subconscious and utilizing our Sixth Sense.

Oh silly me ... it's really about Decision.

    or is it?!?

Now you've *really* got me thinking, USGTMauthor.

It's a 13-step formula to riches, says the author. Can it really be distilled down to just one thing?

I'll let this question linger in people's minds with a quote from the author Napoleon Hill:

"Anybody can wish for riches, and most people do, but only a few know that a definite plan, plus a burning desire for riches are the only dependable means of accumulating wealth."

    and

"All achievement, all earned riches, have their beginning in an idea."
    ~Napoleon Hill, 1937

There is no single resource or technique that leads to success. We'll always need a mix. In a sense, imagination and action ''are the same''. You know like Gas and Ice. Two states.

The truth is that the imagination creates a world (that's not visible to most, so let's not go into it). But action, yes action is the ultimate. Yet, it's an extension and reflection of a deeper and invisible process.

TAGR is an absolutely awesome book! Being able to "stay the course" in what you want to achieve in life is the most important thing any of us could do to attain our dreams. The thing is, we have to also be physically in tune when it comes to being able to start attracting what we want.

Focus and Concentration are skills that have to be worked on as our mind is a garden and we are the gardeners so it is up to us to keep our minds clear of distractions and negativity. All of the moguls in TAGR all had tremendous focus and drive, even though many of them had never been formally educated!

Physically, we must understand the Cerebro-Spinal system, The Concious Mind, the Vagus nerve, and the gangliomic mass, better known as the Solar Plexus which is home to the Subconcious Mind. When we're really, truly focused as is described in TAGR, we automatically radiate the exact frequency necessary to attract what it is we want. I absolutely LOVE this book!! Everyone should definitely read it several times!!

Loved that book. Another classic is "As a man thinketh" by James Allen.
Also not forgetting the Magic of thinking BIG by David Schwartz.

USGTMauthor, I've been thinking about your OP for the past couple of weeks. I made a wonderful discovery this morning while reading Think and Grow Rich (I'm on my 3rd reading).

Here's my discovery: This book is about the power of autosuggestion! Hill says this at least 2x (at least that's what I could find):

"The actual performance of transmuting desire into money involves the use of autosuggestion. The other principles are simply tools with which to apply autosuggestion. Keep this thought in mind, and you, at all times, be conscious of the important part the principle of autosuggestion is to play in your efforts to accumulate money through the methods described in this book." (Chapter 4: Autosuggestion, the 3rd Step to Riches)

    and

"The 13 principles are the stimuli with which you acquire the ability to reach and to influence your subconscious mind." (Chap. 12 The Unconscious Mind: The 11th Step to Riches)

And the way we reach the subconscious mind is through the principle of autosuggestion.

So it seems to me, that while action is how we implement the steps to becoming wealthy, the foundation of the book is aimed at mastering the art of autosuggestion. I think Hill is suggesting that we receive the motivation for carrying out successful through the power of autosuggestion.

    Just a thought!

What I have learned in the past few years, especially when it came to making money online, is that action alone will not make you successful.

It is taking the right action and focusing one ONE thing and do it well.

Just like writing an article a day is TAKING ACTION, but this will probably not make you any money.

You got to take the right action and if you are promoting a product, you need to focus on promoting that one alone and until your see its fruits.

Take action is a skill that is learned. But the book will help you "ACQUIRE THE SKILL TO TAKE ACTION". Its not a good idea to just take action for the purpose of just taking it alone. But keep reading you are on the right track.

Great idea James. I have a philosophy, a book I read can save me 3 months of trial and error and a conversation with someone already getting the results I want can save me 6 months.

But, of all the books, Think and Grow Rich has saved me the most!

        Thanks

Totally agree Tal, start one thing and finish it! Most people jump from one product to the next, to the next... looking for a quicker, easier way! Stop jumping and get doing.

Once you've nailed one method, then you can look at the next one. But the key is stop jumping, start nailing!
