Man...drives me mad. Anyone do the same? Any suggestions?

Any time you develop a plan, and you start doubting yourself, you need to look at it logically.

First, write down your plan, at the very least you need the major points. Don't forget to describe your starting point, (your current situation) it will be helpful later. Create a vision of what your goal/plan will accomplish. Look at the end result and fix it firmly in your mind's eye.

If needed put in short descriptions on how you intend to accomplish each major milestone. As you expand upon these, you will find you can settle your mind and stop the nagging and doubting you are now experiencing.

When you encounter doubts, list them as well. Then, look at how you can overcome the items that cause the doubts to appear. You will find that after you do this exercise for awhile, you will become better at seeing solutions as potential problems come up. Keep writing them down, so if they come up again, you don't have to start over. As you examine any milestone or doubt in achieving it, note the resources you have and/or sub-steps you need to accomplish to achieve that goal.

Given a bit of time, you can develop a step by step plan that not only describes what your goal is, but a very good idea of how to get there. As you move forward, don't be discouraged if you need to revise the plan as your situation changes.

Make sure you check off the things you do as you complete them. Being able to look back at where you started and how much you have progressed will help in keeping a positive attitude along the way. Don't lose your vision of the end, it makes all the difference.

Personally, I live by a week to week plan. If you have a 10 year plan, you see mountains. If you have a week plan, you will see small hurdles you can overcome, then when you get momentum, you get more progress.

It's not about the plan, its about the momentum you have. Ironically, 520 one week plans will take you SO MUCH further than one 10 year plan.

The only way you'll achieve your goals is to work in smaller cycles. It's ok to have major goals in mind out to 10 years, but what you really need to concentrate on is the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly picture. We work best in bite sized chunks. I put together a weekly plan of what I plan to do with the end in mind, and I use a little program called action enforcer that puts my tasks on timer daily to keep me on track.

Best advice I can give you is just get started. Even if the tasks are small, they add up and you can get them checked off your list. Face the Fear and Do It Anyway.

Good luck and just remember it isn't a sprint, it's a marathon

You need short term, medium term and long term goals so that you always have things to aim for but you also have achievements along the way.
Break the mountains down into molehills and devise ways to conquer each one, knowing there are plenty more to come.

Laurence and John, you've both hit the nail on the head. The long term goals gives you the burning desire whilst the short term ones give you the momentum of little victories.
Goals change lives and by having them, you're already way ahead of the game!

The earlier posts about breaking your goal down is spot on. I was once asked the following Question by my coach.
Question "How does one eat an elephant?"
Answer "One bite at a time"
Logical when we sit down to eat, but not so easy when we go to work on a goal. We also tend to view the goal as the end all and be all. If we change our focus to completing the project at hand for its own sake it becomes less overwhelming and as it is completed we move one step closer to the desired end. As we all know its difficult to stay focused for a day let alone for 10 years.

My suggestion to you is that you start a mastermind group that meets weekly and you only discuss things that are pertinent to your goal, the accountability and support will propel you in ways you can not even imagine.
