Hi Warriors,

Just a general question. Have you read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and how influential was that book in your life?

Would love to hear how other Warriors have been applying the principles to their businesses and their lives.

Thanks

Mo

I did read that book, but it was very hard to follow. I mean, theory is there but to do that practical is very very hard. But it does change your mentality at some level.

It was absolutely life-changing for me. I went from being a waiter on a cruise ship to owning and running my own business in London, teaching, speaking at seminars - all in less than a year & a half. The fundamentals in this book have far reaching effects in ALL aspects of your life.

I must have spent about 10 years taking course after course in self-improvement and getting stuck in all the theory. When you read this book and actually APPLY the concepts and be diligent about doing it, major things shift in your thought patterns and great things just happen in your life.

I suggest going through the book and writing down a technique for applying each section. For example: Visualization - take 2 minutes to visualize yourself reaching your goal and every time you have a negative thought about that goal, use the positive visualization. The more you do this, your belief in attaining that goal increases as well as your success of achieving it. It's powerful stuff!

    To Wealth & Success!

OMG, don't get me started! LOL. I'm on my 3rd reading (Hill says it really needs to be read 3 times, then you won't be able to stop!).

It's been the biggest game-changer of my life.

I am in love with this book!

If I was able to have only one book in the entire universe (and I am a voracious reader)... it would be Think and Grow Rich.

It is absolutely brilliant from cover to cover - For me it was the perfect book, with the perfect outline of practical steps to carry out to guarantee manifesting wealth and all the desires of our heart. I am now working on mastering the art of autosuggestion, as Hill repeats at least 2x, that that is how one achieves wealth and "the other principles are simply tools with which to apply auto suggestion.

Napoleon Hill should have won a Nobel Prize.

That book has a lot of influence in my life. One of the biggest things I learned from that book is PERSISTENCE and for that, I am very grateful.

That book is not the only thing that I am grateful for. There is one guy that has influenced my life and his name is Tony Robbins. He is a great leader and I respect that guy like you wouldn't know.

I'm on my second reading of the book. Some of the language and references are very dated but the core message is as important now as it was back in the 1930's.Napoleon Hill is a hero of mine.

I have read that book and a lot of other self-help and positive motivational books. I believe that you should reread these books because it's impossible to glean every golden nugget from the book in 1 reading.

Cynthea, I totally concur with everything you have said. Read it 3 times, read it 30 times, read parts of it every day like Bob Proctor and you will still find new perspectives!

    Happy reading!

Tal, persistence, persistence, persistence! If you keep trying and changing your approach you'll run out of ways to fail and start succeeding.

Tony Robbins is one of my biggest influences! Have you done the UPW weekend?

Assertiveone, I love the language and the way its written. It makes it sound just that bit more credible. Have you heard the Power Talk interview with Napoleon Hill? He had such an amazing way of articulating himself.

Great book. The one thing I really changed in my life as a result was the manifestation of success by dwelling on it. I used to think "sure would be cool to make money online".. and I'd try little things that didn't work and think about tryiing something else later on. The book kind of made me realize I wasn't focused on making it happen. I started dwelling, day night, morning as soon as I woke up.. and voila.. made my first $100 online a couple months later and my first $1000 in AdSense last month... all in about 8 months. I do feel that following the advice of the book was largely responsible for much of my success... and I plan to just keep on going...

I read it once a year just to keep everything fresh in my mind, it's that important. Every success principle is highlighted in this classic (visualization, goal setting, purpose, mastermind). It's one of only a handful of books i re-read every year.

Guitarjosh, you are a perfect example of how this book changes lives. And you hit the nail on the head when you said "sure would be cool"... without really focusing on making it happen. Ya' gotta have a burning desire, says Hill.

Here's a great quote from Think and Grow Rich:

"Every human being who understands the purpose of money wishes for it. Wishing will not bring riches. But desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning definite ways and means to acquire riches, and backing those plans with persistence which does not recognize failure, will bring riches."

Great truth in that quote Cynthea! To me, the most important line in Think and Grow Rich is this:

"When Riches begin to come they come so quickly and in such great abundance that one wonders where they have been hiding during all those lean years"

Work smart, believe and before you know it, you'll be met with wealth and success far beyond what you expected.

            Hi Cynthea,

It was a rather interesting experience. I used to run a site called SelfHelpNotes which basically took a personal development book and summarised it.

I always wanted to be ethical get the author's permission and send them the summary to approve.

Most of the authors and their publishing companies would just reply and say yes.

However, only 2 authors and, in this case, Foundations, really went into a lot of detail into getting things spot on.

The first was the lady who wrote a book called 'Your Best Year Ever' and the second was the Napoleon Hill foundation. We exchanged numerous ideas and revised the summary about 5 times before they approved it. They also asked me to put some details about them at the end, which is what I did, because of how helpful and effective they were.

In my experience, Napoleon Hill left 2 legacies. The first was Think and Grow Rich and the second was his foundation, which is run by and works on the same level of integrity and desire for excellence that Hill aspired to live by.

Thanks Cynthea! I stopped doing SelfHelpNotes a couple of years ago.

However, I'm looking to restart it in a month as it was a real passion of mine and helped a few people!

Which sites do you have Cynthea?

                Thanks

I'm just getting started in Internet Marketing. I owned an event company that I sold (ArtandSoulEvents.com), was a professional writer before that for about 8 years and now am getting ready to launch several websites, one of which will be aimed at the personal development/human potential audience, which is why I was interested in knowing what happened to SelfHelpNotes. It sounded like a cool site.

Right now I've had to put the websites on the backburner, because I've been busy with writing gigs for fellow warriors.

Congratulations on selling your company, Cynthea.

Sounds like it's exciting times for you, launching several sites! Good luck and if there's anything I can do to help, let me know.

SelfHelpNotes was a really cool site, I enjoyed it a lot and can't wait to relaunch it! Just working on all of the pre-launch material right now, so exciting times. I'll be changing the model slightly too, so much more can be done now!

What will your personal development site be on? I'm always on the lookout for products I can promote to my list and love to help give fellow Warriors their first break.
