About two years ago I had a epiphany....

I was up late one night and the tv was on. It was the some guy speaking about the different laws of life. So I grabbed a bowl of cereal and began to watch the television. He soon began talking about knowledge and feeding your mind. He began talking about the importance of reading and little did I know my life would soon be changed....

" When reading you can learn what took some one a lifetime to figure out in a couple hours..." That sentence hit home and a HUMUNGOUS light bulb went off in my head. Up until that point I dreaded reading and probably read 4 or 5 entire books my whole life. But that taught me in order to become successful and reach my goals and dreams, all I had to do was read how others did it, or read how to do it !

That started my journey and I won't stop until I'm a Billionaire !!!!

    Awesome.

Reading is one of the major things I do, actually it's like a short-cut. Seeing as a lot of people document how they have achieved their goals. There are a lot of skills, distinctions, and techniques that one can easily pick up from reading.

When I was but a boy, my father, a former researcher, told me ''study if you want to understand the world, because virtually every aspect of life is documented in books''.

We'll make great progress as long as we apply the lessons. Thanks for sharing.

Michael, what a rich lesson your father taught you!

One of my first jobs as a teenager was shelving books at my local library. What a blessing in disguise that job was!! One would think that a job like that would be boring, but here's what I learned (and it's the same lesson Michael's father taught him): everything you need to know to accomplish anything is available in a book.

While it is a matter of discerning the highest quality from the poorly researched, one can learn that over time.

God bless Andrew Carnegie for making such a great contribution to building the library system in the U.S. and making those repositories of vast amounts of knowledge free to all.

Thank you OP. Thank you for sharing your epiphany.

Great post. I would like to thank the bullies for ehancing my love of reading. Spending the summers at my grandmas, the nearby library was my only safe haven from daily beatings. I learned to love science fiction and computers there. I'd stay there from the time my gran sent me out to play until the library closed. When I go home I still drive by that old place and remember all the lazy summer afternoons with Asimov, Bova, Clarke, Heinlein and Herbert, or reading about Abraham Lincoln and other presidents. Wow, I just outed myself as a humongous nerd.
